  1. I had a class in college called "War in Film." (God, I loved freshman year.)

We saw about 10 films and wrote short essays about each one. For our final we had to see a film that was not shown in class and write a paper on it. I chose Kelly's Heroes. The kids teaching the class (they were sophomores) hadn't heard of it. So who was teaching whom? smile.gif

  2. When you install mods they take effect immediately, although I am not sure if you need to reboot CM for some of them. They are only graphics files, so they do not affect gameplay. When you play against another player each of you sees the game with the mods each has installed. You may have all the winter mods installed while your opponent doesn't. You will see the winter camo while your opponent won't.

I think Matt is alluding to a sex change operation again. wink.gif

  4. I had a similar problem when working on an Omaha Beach scenario. The Americans would flee down the beach instead of trying to move up to the beach exits. I solved the problem by putting the friendly edge of the map opposite the troops, i.e. the same side as the exit. Your troops may be afraid to cross the bridge, but they will do so if they perceive that they can seek safety on the other side. It improved my scenario immensely.

  5. MadMatt, I am pretty sure the contract between you and TGN is binding. They sent you a contract to sign, you signed it, and returned it to them. Their parent company was not named or identified in the contract, so you could not know that the contract was subject to their approval. TGN, has apparent authority (that's a legal term) to bind its parent company to a contract if it acted as if it had the authority to do so.

Judgement for Plaintiff. Mr. Madmatt, please see Rusty the bailiff as you exit the courtroom as he has some papers for you to sign.

  6. This is taken from Ambrose's D-Day, which I am currently reading:

A small hay barn on the south side of the church square was on fire, evidently caused by a tracer.

The first men to land in an around the town were from the 506th PIR, 101st Airborne, although their objective was Ste.-Marie-du-Mont. Lt. Richard Winters was the ranking officer, as the company commander was killed when his plane crashed. Four men from that group were killed, as the Germans were distracted by the fire.

After the men of the 506th scattered, the second platoon of F Company, 505th PIR, landed right on top of Ste.-Mere-Eglise. By this time the German garrison was fully alerted and fired on the men as they drifted down and as they landed. Ambrose does ot say how many paratroopers were hit or give any information on the German garrison.

A few hours later Lt. Col. Ed Krause, 3rd Battalion, 505th PIR (I think from the 82nd, as Ambrose is talking about the 82nd at this point) headed towards Ste.-Mere-Eglise with 180 men. When they got there the fire was out and the town's residents and the Germans had gone back to sleep. The paratroopers quitely worked their way into town and were directed to the German billets by a local Frenchman. Thirty Germans surrendered and ten were shot trying to resist

At that point, Ste.-Mere-Eglise was taken.

    I hope this helps.

You will need to replace the ambient sound wav with ringing bells if you want an authentic atmosphere. smile.gif

  7. To create a setup file start out as if you were playing against the computer, go to quick battle (if that's what you want to play), set the parameters, choose your side and then select PBEM when given the choice of type of game you want. I am pretty sure that is the order, but you can figure it out easily. Then you will be given the opportunity to select your units. After you finish, it will ask you to name the file - call it SETUP or something. Then you go to your e-mail program and attach that file to your e-mail, and send it to your opponent. After that, just sit back and regret every move you make. smile.gif
