1. Excuuse me! I'll have you know that in IN we do have HS Drivers Ed, even to this day. I spent a couple hundred bucks on my son to take it, so I could save 10's of dollars on insurance. Geesh, ya act like us Hoosiers are backward or something. :rolleyes
2. My approach to this problem is to lay down half again to twice as many waypoints as I need as I am laying down a path out to the end point. Later if necessary I can go back and am usually able to fine tune with a bit of push and drag to place the path just where I want it.
3. FIRST REENACTMENTs - My brothers and I recreating "Combat" and "Gallant Men" in the back yard. FIRST MINIATURES - Green army men and tanks out in the dirt. FIRST 5&10 WARGAME - Milton Bradley's "DogFight" FIRST ELECTRONIC WARGAME - Parker Bros. "Codename: Sector" a self-contained computer game of Submarine pusuit. FIRST CONSOLE TV WARGAME - Nintendo "Silent Service" FIRST "REAL" BOARDGAME - Avalon Hill's, "D-Day" FIRST COMPUTER WARGAME - Will Hutsell's "Civil War Battleset" And the good times are still rolling
4. I just played around in a QB using upgrade 1.1. Minefields worked great. Overlapping is excellent. Stringing them in a line down a road worked nicely also. They may make it through the first set but none through the third set. Once a mine exploded then the Minefield sign comes into existence for that field. The daisy chain minefield sign was seen as soon as they came into sight. There is just no accounting for bad luck
5. I consider it to early to say for sure... but I am also seeing more unexpected smoke and for no apparently good reason, than before. My opponent in a QB had Infantry leave houses as soon as they came under fire. Last turn I had Veteran unit with good morale retreat from house during the turn when it came under fire. Actually it is the same house the other fellow retreated from so maybe there is something inside it that no one can stand....but that may be another story This is the 1.1Beta patch. Again these are only the first instances of said events and I ordinarily would have put them down to random fuzziness....until I saw this thread of messages. --Randl
6. Bumping once for those coming on in the evening --Randl
7. We are in need of a Few Good Men to complete an Indiana group for the Rugged Defense Wargame Club Group Ladder. You're fine with us if you are a native Hoosier or if you live here now. Regards, Randl sickbert@psci.net
8. I second the motion also. The second PBEM player should know everything pertaining to the Quick Battle that the originating player knows. --Randl
9.
quote:
Originally posted by Jadayne: ....wasn't that Conan the Barbarian's girlfriend who said that before she got shot by James Earl Jones's snake arrow?......

Speaking of Conan, there's this: "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women!" -- Conan the Barbarian --Randl
10. Hello HowardB, this is Randl. I am to play you in the second round of the RD tourney. I also sent mail and haven't received a response. I'll try again. Email me if you see this. Regards, Randl
11. Concerning how to influence the use of various game units particularly in the Recon role; My Opinion: 1) Do not change purchase points. 2) Do not use a penalty or bonus to control play. 3) Realism changes would be my approach. Particularly these that have been mentioned before; a. slow the speed in terrain b. lessen spotting ability while moving c. have them knocked out or abandoned more easily. My feeling is... if it could have been done ... then allow it to be done... with the proper and realistic consequences. Regards, Randl
12. Jeff, Have you, or has anyone gotten back to you, or does anyone have thoughts concerning, where Rubble fits into the Cover and Concealment list? Thanks, Randl
13. Allow me to second the motion....go there! The maps are awsome and so far...so is the fighting. I am currently doing "Station". Good stuff. Regards, Randl
14. When did I get this old anyway? Last time I remember I was 32 47 /Randl
15. In a manner of speaking, wargaming is recreating a reality in miniature and modeling is recreating a reality in miniature. I guess I like miniaturizing things, and do them both /Randl

It will be found on the Scenarios/Operations page. Cut the Road to Marseille is a conversion of an ASL scenario done by Berlichtingen with French and German analysis by Fionn. /Randl

18. On a parallel track I would like to say that being a tyro CM'r that I found quite interesting Mr.Kelly's treatment of the "Cut the Road to Marseille sp.?" scenario found on the CMHQ annex. I would very much like to see other scenarios dealt with in a similar light, that of how they can be used for training purposes. For me as a novice squad level player, the AAR's and scenario analyses make for a speedier grasp of the fundamentals of the CM approach to WWII combat. I also thank you sir...and everyone else who is contributing pertinant information towards our gaming pleasure Regards, Randl
