@Hubert --- So what's next?
Lars replied to jon_j_rambo's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Bah, civil war, napoleonics, give me a change. Hubert, you ever play Sword of Rome? That's got my vote and I'd love to see it, or something like it even larger (whole Med?) made on a computer. Totally devious, four player action, tons of strategy, and unique depending on what country you are. Battles are a riot. You can have a huge army and still get kicked in the head. Seanachai, dalem, Papa Kahn and I get together every so often and have a game. Usually start at 5pm, finish at 4 am, with lots of cursing the whole time. I give it top rating for "Screw Your Neighbor". The guy who's best at laying in the weeds unnoticed and inciting the others to violence usually pulls it out. -
Z-Plan Discussion
Lars replied to JerseyJohn's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Z-Plan is an interesting scenario, but let's remember it is almost a complete fantasy for Germany, not to mention the entirely wrong strategy, given hindsight, unless you're willing to wait til '46-'48 to kick things off. But, the most important thing to remember is UK is not going to be sitting on their hands watching new uberBB's rolling off the line. Better do a little research into what their build plans were and adjust accordingly. -
My pasty white body has reached a glorious new state of lovely brown. And God bless the man who invented dark sunglasses. The looking on the beach, she was good. Hate the French, love their boobs. The other highlight of the trip was diving off the bowsprit of the sailing ship. About a 35 to 45 foot drop, depending on how you timed the swell. Also brought along a ice fishing rod. Crew had never seen anything like it. Caught a 5 to 8 pound shark off the stern. Now that was fun on a two foot rod. Woot!

So the French getting lucky on a Inf Tech isn't a fantasy? That's in the game too. -
Neutral USA?

Yep. Which is why the game lets you change the script. This is a fantasy, bound loosely by the possible. -

US embargo was not fore-ordained. Neither was Pearl Harbor on Dec 7. Kick it out to a later date. It's called diplomacy for a reason ya know. Figure out the rational that you like, but a Japan not tied up against the US would have been a threat to the USSR, preventing those troop movements. -

Now there's an interesting idea. Axis chits keep the Siberian Transfer out? Say US below a certain percentage when they're due they don't show? Would be tough on the Axis. You'd have to budget for a early Barbarossa and the chits. Don't think it would throw the game balance too far out of whack. Could really come back to bite a guy in the butt actually. But just might be crazy enough to work. -
Neutral USA?

Yep, especially when it issues Out the mouth Of the Nazis. Well, For that matter, "War Propaganda" Then, or, NOW, Ain't exactly the whole truth And - nothing but, eh? JUST because something is WRITTEN down, Doesn't mean it is Exacto facto. Does it? And, What you can Every day mundane - see, witness, Breathe in, ozmose, Is, oh, probably? A tiny FRACTION Of all that is... actually "there." So. I wouldn't bet the Gigantic Corporate Farm On anything - ANY Government CLAIMS, During... war. Peaceful existence... maybe. </font> -

Huh, only 74 miles from U-2513. History is very odd sometimes. -

btw, one of those sinkings. You might have seen it on Deep Sea Detectives. http://uwex.us/msrhein.htm And if you're ever in Florida, you can go fish it. Only ninety miles out from Sanibel. -
Neutral USA?

The US was "officially" neutral. They never were "truly" neutral. There's a difference. And you might want to read the German Declaration of War sometime. In part, You might also want to read Hitler's Reichstag speech of December 11, 1941. Rather a laundry list of violations there. Just to keep it to the naval side. These are not the actions of a neutral. The German declaration of war was justifiable. Wasn't smart, but it was justifiable.
