  1. As I notice more and more whining on this board, I wated to reiterate a thank you for such an incredible game. This is a game I will have on my computer for decades to come, and provides unlimited fun. I am so glad you went with your passion, took a calculated risk, and made the best wargame ever. Thanks!
  2. Looking more closely I discovered as I usually ran with enlarged units "+2 or +3", I believe I lost detail and proportions.
  3. I was just looking through the latest version of the Excel Chart that has a pic of ALL the differet units and their stats, and noticed they are quite differnet (and more detailed) that what I see in the game. I'm wondering if he has the Mac version? Or maybe the pics are enhanced or changed somehow? Anyone have some insight on this?
  4. Your welcome. I am still amazed at how much detail you can convincingly portray on just a few polygons to make them look like tanks! I wish I had that kind of publishing talent.
  5. I wanted to post a public note to both of you thanking you for your brilliant additions to Combat Mission. After trying every single mod available, I can honestly say your work is a whole class above every one elses. If everyone didn't know it already, Kwazydog Dan does all the high-res tank textures in the Mad Matt packs, and Tiger John's latest work - the Allied weathered tanks - shows much better/realistic detail on them - I was amazed at how good they look for being low-res. If you're wondering what mods to use here you go: 1. Kwazydog's tank mods in the Madmatt packs. 2. Tiger John's Weathered Allied/British tanks. These will improve the game for you immensely. Kwazydog and Tiger, I look forward to each new screen shot posted of your work, and love the end results! [This message has been edited by jpinard (edited 08-24-2000).]
  6. Rommel72 I'll try them out and let you kow. I'll post my responses here OK?
  7. My two favorite mod artists. You guys have done excellent work. Kwazydog, your hi-res work blows me away. JohnS. - Your weathered allied work is just wonderful. Thank you both! You're the best. -Jeff
  8. Rommel32, will you try Fireman's Brigade and let me know what you think? I spent so much time on it, and had good feedback, but I'd also like to see what another scenario designer thinks of it. If you try it, read everything, and keep in mind it is of course fictional. My main purpose was for something totally unique.
  9. Oh my goodness. Daveman!!!!!! I guess you should have known I would comment on something like this Actually there is a bug in their javascript or whatever html they use to generate the ratings. Plus it irks me I have a scenario I spent a lot of time to make challenging, extremely interesting, and different, and it shows a rating of "2". I actually thought about it, but is is soooo much work. I feel guilty every day because I have not kept up my AoW site better.
  10. Well, I have now come to the verified conclusion that the ratings at the Scenario Depot are totally useless and there's a problem with it as well. Here's why: I had 5 differenet people send me e-mails telling me they thought "Fireman's Brigade" was fun, unique and they gave it a good score (5 stars). I had these on the first two days it was officially posted. At that point the rating was a 4 (with only 5 ratings posted). This alone made no sense, unless the people who e-mailed me lied and only gave it 4's (which I highly doubt). So I rated it myself - giving it a 5 - (as I felt I could add my opinion ONCE), and the rating dropped to 3 stars!!!!!!!!!! Now, the rating is at 2 stars, and is far better than at least 1/2 the scenarios on that board. Certainly better than my other two scenarios posted that still have a "3"... So, my advice to you is ignore the ratings, they are seriously flawed. One exception: You MUST download all of Wild Bill's scenario's. They are the best.
  11. Not much chance of surviving? I would think they would only do it when the tanks were buttoned...
  12. Sounds like dangerous work for the runner. Had to be a good athlete! What is "SC"?
  13. So are you saying that Russians would run right up to a tank and place this charge on the side?
  14. WOW! That sounded very exciting! Sounds like it was VERY much down to the wire? Congrats on the tactical victory. With eveything on fire, did it slow your computer down a lot?
  15. Very interesting strategy... Those of us that tested it, never tried what you're doing... Are your recoilless rifles still alive? I must say, I learnednew respect for Ppiioneer platoons from this scenario. That pack of flour sure packs a punch when they're close enough! How many tanks have you destroyed? They have quite a few, a couple of Priests, plus I believe a few greyhounds as well. The AI does an excellent job with this scenario as the Allies...
  16. Matt, I'm wondering if Mod releases are going to be affected by the problems you're having from being hacked? If so, I will create my own site just for Combat Mission mods. I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to having to wait for new mods... we want them quickly...
  17. Von Brizee. Did you win? You seem to have caught on to the strategy maybe??? The ambushes that can be done in this scenario are sooooo much fun! I would have LOVED to have seen that grenade that took out 3 tanks. WOW!! You probably didn't take a screenshot did you?
  18. I created a scenario that I feel offers a very interesting battle. "The Germans have been pushed back to a small section of land which houses their headquarters. The surrounding area is primarily pine and grain fields with a narrow dirt road running through the heart of the land. The German army is hopelessly outgunned, but they have 2 aces up their sleeve: 1. They can dig in and set ambushes for the advancing Allied troops. 2. They have a wide assortment of fire-making units (hence the name Fireman's Brigade). This scenario has been tested very, very thoroughly, and we have found only one way for the Germans to win. Once again, the title should help you figure out what you need to do (how do you fight a forest fire?). Please try it out. I think you'll find the detail in this battle is second to none, and you'll enjoy an experience you've never had in CM before. If you need hints on how to be successful in the scenario as the Germans, you can e-mail me: jpinard@home.com
