Wow, Squad Leader is amazingly horrible...

Squad Leader is now averaging a 40% score. Good job Hasbro! Just amazing work! I'd be sooooo embarassed to work for them. -

Johnno, Rollercoaster Tycoon is excellent because Hasbro had NO part in the development. A single guy in England (Chris Sawyer), did all the deveopment himself. He shopped for publishers when it was near completion, and Hasbro bit. It could have been published by many other companies. Hasbro does not run the Rollercoaster Tycoon site either, Chris and his group does. Chris is like BTS, except he went mainstream with the publishing. -

Hey Turretring. Mechwarrior 4 is being produced in-house by Microsoft, not Microprose. So you can buy it with confidence when it is released. I'm looking forward to it also. -
I love my GeForce 2. Not ONLY do I get excellent FSAA, but I also get T&L (which voodoos do not) and yes there are great games that use it now (Commanche Hokum is one), but I can run games at 1600x1200 with zero slowdown. At 16-bit or 32-bit. You cannot do that with a VOODOO either. Also 3dfx is reporting much lower than expected earnings while NVidia is flying high...

Anyone else tried it? I sent a note to Hasblo(a negative note), they did not respond. I convinced the guys here at EB to dissuade people from purchaseing it, and they may pull it off the shelves. -

I'm curious if anyone else tried SL? Once again, it was so bad (and poorly programmed( I just don't know how they could have released it. I think Paintbrawl 3 was probably a better game. -
Any news about CM2 date of release ?
jpinard replied to DmTs's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It was released yesterday. Didn't you hear? -
I've been gone for a while. I got extremely sick from my CF this last month. After trying Squad Leader (see my thread), and Close Combat V, I just wanted to thank you for having the BEST wargame in the world. I am so very grateful you put so much hard work into this game. Both the aforementioned titles don't even come close to providing the enjoyment and thrill Combat Mission provides, and I'm just happy to have this game. Thank you. -Jeff Pinard

Actually the screenshots posted are touched up. It does not even look that good during play. I like Falcon 4 a lot, I didn't like Hasbro for ulling the plug on the designers when they were making huge strides in stability. All of us would have bought a Falcon 5, but Hasbro (being the geniuses they think they are) said we're done with wargames. Funny thing about the Hasblo Squad Leader game is that they cannot blame Gronards for it doing bad. No one would have the patience to deal with such pathetic crap (unbelievably it is horrendously slow on an AMD 1 Gig machine).... not a gronard, and not a teenager. It's just plain awful programming. I am so thankful for Combat Mission. Thank you BTS! I only tried Squad Leader for a little variety. Just went to prove how lucky I feel to be a part of the Combat Mission phenom. -

To the guy who stated not to blow $45... Actually I set my expectations low so I would not be disappointed. Geez, big surprise!! I have a great deal with Electronics Boutique here. I buy tons of games and they let me bring anything back. No worries about purchases is nice. -

Any of you play Falcon 4.0? We all hate Hasbro from that debacle. I don't understand why they bought Microprose just to drive them into the ground. Now Microprose will never have any respect. -

Hasbro has taken over Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, and many other game manufacturers. They almost have a monopoly (actually they own that game too) on board games now from all their purchased sub-companies. -

I didn't see any other reviews, but went back a day here on the forum and saw the gonegold review. I REALLY hope no one buys crap like this. Mine is going back to EB. -
Like many of you, I was a fan of Squad Leader. So expecting something mediocre from Hasblo/Microprose, I picked up Squad Leader and... I cannot even begin to say how horrible the graphics are, and terrible the gameplay. My mediocre expectations were waaayyyy too high. Has anyone else tried this game? On a 1 Gig AMD Thunderbird it was painfully slow, and nothing was happening!! Please has anyone else tried this? If you cannot take it back to the purchase store, save yourself and don't even try it. That's why there is no demo for it. Close Combat 1 is better, and Combat Mission of course is in its own gold league.

I think it's been long enough. Can you please release Combat Mission 2 now? Just kidding. After playing a little of Close Combat 5 (Normandy Invasion), I have now come to the conclusion I can never go back to that type of game again after Combat Mission. That means I have to wait until Combat Mission 2 is released for a new WWII game! Charles, you are a programming genius. Keep up the amazing work. I have one request for Combat Mission 2: Allow units to get better with experience (from battle to battle they can go from regular to veteren etc.)

How to place AT-guns inside a building-IT IS POSSIBLE!

Matt, what other secrets? Please, pretty please, give us another secret! -
If you install a rarity factor, could you please make it an "option", instead of forcing it? That we we will have a lot more options in the game, instead of "just" being limited to what historically happened. Thanks!
