  1. I think the answer is no - it is something to do with the backblast from such weapons. They were deemed dangerous from within a building to the team firing. But if I recall, I'm sure you can now fire Panzerfaust from within buildings. I know there was a big debate about it all some time ago. I'm pretty sure the Panzerfaust from within buildings was added in a patch.

  2. Thanks for making this, but I have one problem: I do not hear the falling of artillery. Everything else sounds ok its just these sounds missing. I checked the permissions and they look ok. Someone else with the same problem?

@Seedorf: these are all wavs - no virus in wavs.

There is no falling of mortar rounds anymore, but that's how it should be. I love the 'crump' of the shells now. But you do hear the heavier shells incoming, although I think the noise has been shortened a little. But the overall effect is stunning - the meaty explosions of the 155mm is great.

  3. Amazing stuff!! Absolutely amazing. This is a must have sound effects mod.

I absolutely love the pings and the small arms fire. Incredibly detailed. I found myself ducking at one point.

I have to agree about the nature of the heavier stuff - I have yet to hear artillery rounds, but did the 75mm really sound like that? (I'm testing it with CMFI by the way, and am using a T30 HMC, with a L/16 75mm. I *think* it sounds right to me, especially because its a L/16 but I'm not sure this will sound right for the faster Sherman gun. I could be completely wrong though!

  4. I realise that Wodin. But unless you intend to play games like Crysis 23 whenever that comes out there isn't a good reason to invest in 2gb of texture memory at the moment. You won't notice it.

But you WILL notice the difference generally speaking with a RAM upgrade (system RAM, not Graphics card RAM) unless you are already running at 8 or 16GB.

  5. I don't think CM will make any use of the extra texture memory. 1GB is perfectly fine. If you are running with Windows 7 you can use as much RAM as you want even though the games still only use 3-4gb mostly. I've definitely noticed the difference with 8GB over 4. And one of the best upgrades for me was the SSD. Absolutely fantastic that is.

  6. Aris. love your work but hope you don't mind some criticism. I've tried the smoke and dust mod and just can't use it - that 3d type effect of the smoke bellowing up from the explosion just looks a bit odd in my opinion - it doesn't look overly realistic and it hangs around for too long. I'm not sure there's much you can do about it.

  7. After spending a fair amount of time beta testing and then having exams and assignments plus my 2 year old son to look after I haven't been able to spare a lot of time for actually playing and enjoying the game! Have I been missing out or what!!

What a campaign! Immersive, challenging, pretty, and thoroughly rewarding. Kudos to the designers. It feels so totally different to anything in Normandy, which is what you would expect obviously, but to produce something that portrays the epic struggle that was the Italian campaign in 1943 so well is remarkable in my honest opinion. I'm part way through the campaign, or rather I was until I foolishly deleted my two save games ;) Now I have to start again.. But I'm not complaining.

Time for a brew and then another onslaught no doubt!

  8. The M3 is certainly in the game as I have used it many times in the beta. I like the punch from the 75mm HE and to an extent the fact it is 'open' means you have half decent ability to spot things. But that 75 AP round - hmmm not so sure how good that is against German armour unless you are close..

The M10 is obviously the tank killer of choice. But as I played the beta to death and haven't really had a chance to delve into the game proper until now, I'm not even sure if it is available ;)
