  1. Okay I think it's the mission I was thinking of, but it's been a while since I played it.

It's a difficult one for sure.

What I did was keep a few MG teams down on the right flank - and keep most other units on the left. I drew fire from the MG's on the right whilst laying a vertical smoke barrage on the left - I ran a few units up the left flank. Heavy artillery bombardment horizontal across the top. Most enemy units are in defilade if I recall which causes problems when you reach the top. It's that part that is harder.

When you get there post another pic and let me know your progress. I enjoyed this mission as far as I recall.

  2. *SPOILERS*

Okay I think I know - but that single TRP is confusing me.. Could I have a screen capture of the starting position just to confirm.

I believe this is the mission where you need to use generous quantities of smoke to cover your advance up one flank - but you also need to use generous amounts of heavy artillery to suppress the Germans dug in on the top. There is a large AT gun up there as far as I recall. But I need a screen shot just to confirm.

  3. School of Hard Knocks is tough but beatable. I managed it once. This is incredibly difficult. As MD says, some missions are meant to be 'experienced'. I think what I might try is small platoon action rather than focussing the whole force. I'll keep most back and work one angle at a time. I'll also use a couple of smaller teams as artillery 'bait'. See what happens. By the way, I won't divulge too much but I ceasefired my mission and examined the map. The German force in this mission is immense.

  4. Yep I can't do it either, and I beta tested it :D

I've tried a number of different approaches, concentrating primarily on the centre - but obviously that's where the FJ are focussing too. The mines are the killer for me - I can't advance my tanks much further than the first row of mines without losing at least one. I have to use lots of smoke to cover the infantry advance but the German mortars are lethal as they are targetting this central channel with great effect. I've tried flanking two platoons left and right but the mines delay and the enemy machine guns mean I take huge losses before I even reach the summit.

I think smoke is going to be key, as well as huge amounts of prep artillery to soften the dug in positions, but either way casualties are going to be extreme. I will keep trying.
