1. Welcome to the club! I don't know how either; how do you do it? Also, how do you move the movie on frame by frame? The Major
2.
quote:
Originally posted by Thomas Davie: Odd, but until I downloaded QT 3.0 I was unable to view 3 of the CM movies. Dunno why, they all appeared as either blank or all black on both Macs and Wintels. Couldn't download em with either a 56k modem or a T1 at work. Just moments ago with a cable modem I was able to view them. Odd. Shrug. They look nice. Oh yeah, grab yourself the Star Bores movie trailer from www.apple.com if you head over there to grab the new version of quicktime. Tom

I'm going to sound really dumb, but what movies are referred to here? The Major
3. I'm not really that diciplined; I'm still in home school (last year of high school) and I've got a good mother who takes care of that kind of thing .
4. I only allow myself 1-2 hours a week to keep myself from spending too much time on it; that way it doesn't become an obsession. I don't know; just a suggestion. The Major [This message has been edited by Major Belles (edited 01-13-2001).]
5. Back to the old subject; I probably won't (after all) buy CM; I just don't like the idea of shooting at people/dead bodies. If there was a patch for the people who felt this way, I think it'd be a good idea; i.e.; just an X instead of a dead body, and not quite so detailed people; more of just a standard "man" with not as much realism; this would be a step backwards, but it'd only be a patch; well, how about it? (esp. Madmatt?)
6. I haven't bought it yet, but I can tell you that if it is anything like the demo, BUY IT! (It may bother you to be shooting at people; that's my one drawback.) Download the demo and see what you think. It'd have to be a huge step down from the demo to not be worth $45. The Major
7. Back to the original subject, (the Maus), thanks for the replies; too bad!!!
8.
quote:
Originally posted by Richard III: No Sturmtiger?? Aaargh, I guess we'll have to make do with the wimpy ol' Jagdtiger... Hey Steve, how about a CM expansion set with some of these stranger vehicles. T28 vs Maus! What a battle! Tortoise vs Pather Ausf. F. etc...

I hate to bring up an oooold topic , but I did a search on the Panzer Maus and came up with this topic. I haven't bought CM yet (plan to, though), and was wondering if the Maus was in there or planned to be there? The Major
9. I may sound rather silly, but I don't really like staring at dead bodies during my game ; is there an option to turn them off? If not, how about making one? The Major
10. Echoing what's been said before, we'll miss you, Col. Klink! The Major
11. Great Campaigns of the American Civil War (GCACW). Another detailed Avalon Hill game; however, since they got bought out by Hasbro, it's being produced by Multiman Publishing. Check it out, if anyone likes detailed games! Website is www.gcacw.com The Major
12. Speaking of Bison mortar carriers... (I mentioned something similar to this earlier)I haven't tried it, but could I take a Bison into combat like the Russians do with their artillery and have it fire during the combat phase? Or is this against Western army doctrine?
13. Great; thanks for both answers. I've killed OPFOR art. that way alot also, but not without taking alot of direct hits from it.
14. I've noticed that the OPFOR will take their artillery directly into battle, with suprisingly good effect. During the action phase, it will fire directly at a position, to very good effect. 2 questions. Firstly, is this a better tactic than leaving your art. behind the lines? Also, is it possible for the human player to do this?
15. Not to get dogmatic about it, however. Every man to his own opinions.
16.
quote:
Originally posted by Bruno Weiss: Not sure things are any more violent now a days then anytime in the past. It's just we now have the ability to portray it without it actually having to happen.

True. Still, it isn't nessecary to portray it; it can get people used to the idea of violence and, once that happens, suddenly crime doesn't seem as bad. "I've done it on the internet, I've seen what it's like; it's not that bad." This holds true even for shooting people in a war instead of in a crime scene. The Major
17. Why all this violence nowadays? Realism isn't an excuse . (Not referring to CM, of course, it isn't that graphic.)
18.
quote:
Originally posted by Henri: Yes, they are somewhat similar except of course CM is WW2. If you like Tacops, thre is little doubt that you will like CM. Henri

On the reverse side, if you like CM but don't like the level of realism (i.e. firing at real men and tanks, dead men laying on the battlefield, etc.) you really ought to check out TacOps. It's got almost all the level of realism without the graphics. The Major P.S. I'm not saying anything against CM; it's a great game; I just don't like shooting at what looks like real guys. If that doesn't bother most of you, that's great!

Medics?

I may be missing something in the rules, but I can't figure out what good medics are; what good are they? Also, are FOO groups specifically for spotting, nothing else?
20. I downloaded the maptool, but when I try to open a map it asks for a .dat file, and when I try to create a new one, it asks for a .bmp file. All the maps on the Tacops CD are .gif and .map. Any solutions? I'm feeling rather frustrated.
21. Thanks for the responses, MajorH and Rich! My questions are definitely answered now. I should have looked in the manual for the TRP's (Sorry! ). The Major
