  1. Guys, AFAIK, the scenarios were all designed and tested on v1.02. I'll leave it up to you and your opponent to choose which patch to use, but you both must use the same patch. Otherwise you'll end up with two different scores.
  2. The first scenario of the finals, 'The Petroskov River Bridge' has been sent out to the German players. The Allied players should have already received their briefings. The other two scenarios will be sent out tonight. As soon as I'm done with the finalists I will begin organizing the other players into sections.
  3. No, it was in the CM briefing. The scenario depicts a raid behind German lines to destroy a Chem Lab, and he added several screenshots of the German's defensive layouts, all done in grainy black and white as though they were taken by a spy or recon team. I have no idea on how he did it, but like I said, it added a nice touch. You can still pick it up at the depot.
  4. IIRC, Clubfoot did just that in his scenario 'Fertile fields'. Really nice touch to an excellent scenario.
  5. Ah, insomnia. Don't you just love it? OK, a couple of things we need to discuss... First off, I went back and re-read Treeburst's tourney manual, and nowhere does it say anything about dropouts from the finals and how to handle it. While this is very unlikely to happen, one never knows, so I think now would be a good time to work out a plan. IMO, the best way would be to bring in the second place finisher of that person's section as the replacement. If he is not availible then I will go to the third place, and so on. Sound good, or not? Let me know. Second, I think the Bonus formula for AARs needs to be reworked. Currently a person will get either 4% or 2% of the highest tourney score. However, in reviewing the AARs last night I came to the conclusion that we need to add a 1% and 3% slot. Some of the AARs were real works of art, and deserved the full 4%, while others were not quite on the same level but due to the way the bonuses are awarded I had to score them both the same. Likewise, some guys just gave a paragraph or two for an AAR, and those were awarded a 2%, but there were others in the 2% range that I felt deserved a little more. Comments? Finally, I would like to remind everyone that you are all eligible to play the finals scenarios, and can form your own 3 man 'cell' if you want. I have a list up on the ROW BBS (which BTW is now open to all tourney members, not just those who finished all of their games) which has all of the players so far signed up. Send me an e-mail and I will get you signed up. OK, how about I get my ass in gear and launch the finals?
  6. Gentlemen, After having reviewed all of the AARs in my possesion, and awarded the bonus points accordingly, I can now officially announce the 12 finalists who will proceed to the next round. I'm sure there's probably a mistake or two in there. Even so, it would appear that the finalists are there to stay, as any error in my math would unlikely unseat them. Congratualtions Gentlemen, you are headed to the finals!
  7. OK, Looks like the ball is in my court now. Tonight I will award the AAR bonuses and announce the 12 finalists. Per Treeburst's manual each AAR will be worth either 4% or 2% of the highest tourney score, and checking the list provided by Nabla I see Lt Bull having the highest score with .81. This means that those who have submitted an AAR can expect to see as much as an extra .162 added to their score (.81 x .04 = .0324 x 5 AARs = .162) Not much, but it may provide just enough of a boost to propel the second place finisher into the leader's slot. If anyone sees a mistake in my math, or has a different interpretation of how AAR bonuses are awarded, please let me know as soon as possible. As of today I have received the following AARs: King of Debrecen Nolloff Texas Toast Holien Wellsonian mPisi The Capt Ted Frunze Seahawk Cpl Carrot Vadr Heavy Drop Shock Trooper Spanish Bombs Jon_L The Beast Wellsonian Spanish Bombs mPisi Nolloff Frunze Heavy Drop Texas Toast Shock Trooper Holien Lt Bull Cpl Carrot Jon_L Hosszupalyi Nolloff Wellsonian mPisi The Capt Kanonier Reichmann Texas Toast Frunze Shock Trooper Heavy Drop Holien Spanish Bombs Cpl Carrot The Christmas Battle Spanish Bombs Frunze Holien Shock Trooper Heavy Drop Texas Toast The Capt Lt Bull Cpl Carrot Anthony Hudson Rearguard action Spanish Bombs mPisi Nolloff Frunze Holien The Capt Ted Heavy Drop Shock Trooper Texas Toast Vadr Cpl Carrot Kanonier Reichmann Jon_L A reminder: I am still waiting for the author of the AAR that begins with "Please pardon any misspelling of the Scenarios and such:" to e-mail me. I need to know whom this belongs to if I am to award any bonuses points. Good luck to all [ May 27, 2003, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: Kingfish ]
  8. Kingfish, Could you fix that one, and I'll run the scores again after that. It may even be that we'll have to wait until all players have checked their raw (battle) scores. </font>
  9. Guys, I have another AAR with no name on it. This one starts off with "Please pardon any misspelling of the Scenarios and such:". I need to know who this belongs to. Also, as Jarmo stated, the finalists will be announced soon, so now is the time to announce if you wish to play in the finals even if you don't make the cut. Don't post here, just send me an e-mail with the title "ROW finals"
  10. Go back to the B & T site, click on the 'About the team' tab and then click on Kevin Kinscherf's name. From the looks of it he doesn't have it listed at the depot, but I'm sure he would love to hear from you.
  11. The missing scores were filled in with either a "G" or "I" tag as per his instructions. I'm assuming that the programing he is doing involves getting the Nabla system to recognize those tags as opposed to a regular score. IIRC, all 24 players of ROW I had finished their games, and Treeburst was able to fill in the blanks of ROW II with actual scores (I could be wrong here), so this is the first time where we used a tag instead of a score for some games.
  12. I had sent him an e-mail around the time I contacted Jarmo, but so far I haven't received a reply. The e-mail didn't bounce, so I suspect that his account is still active. AFAIK, not even Winecape has heard from him since his departure. Edit: Updated scored list has now been sent to Jarmo. All the missing slots have been filled in, so he's good to go. 13. OK, time to bring everyone up to speed on whats going on, and why the holdup. The problem we have at the moment is that, in it's current form, the Nabla system requires all the games to be finished for it to crunch the numbers. Although we came very close to doing that, we didn't complete all of them. Therefore, it is up to me to 'fill in the blanks' so to speak. This will require me to go back and check on what games were not completed, ask the players to send me the latest file, and determine who would have been the likely winner, loser or if it would have ended in a tie. Here's the important part. I will not wait too long for people to get back to me with their files. If I do not hear from them in a couple of days I will decide on my own what the outcome is from their games and take it from there. Those who have unfinished games can help out by sending me the files ahead of time. Please make sure to include who played and what side they had. That is where we stand at the moment. Although it is not an official deadline extention, it does give some people an extra day or two to see if they can finish it on their own. I would much rather fill in the blank with a score than just a W, L, or T. Thank you for your patience
  14. Guys, In an effort to generate more discussions on the scenarios, as well as maintain FOW for the Overflow, I would like to make the ROW BBS availible for all members of the regular tourney. Instructions on how to join on posted on the first page of this thread. If at all possible, please use the same username as what you have on this board. Otherwise you'll need to e-mail me first to let me know what name you've chosen.
  15. Ted, I just tried sending it to you to see if it's yours, but the e-mail bounced. E-mail me and I'll respond back with AAR attached. BTW, you may want to edit your last post, as it mentions certain units in the scenario.
  16. Here's the list of AARs so far submitted: King of Debrecen Nolloff Texas Toast Holien Wellsonian mPisi The Capt Ted Frunze Seahawk Cpl Carrot Vadr Heavy Drop Shock Trooper Spanish Bombs The Beast Wellsonian Spanish Bombs mPisi Nolloff Frunze Heavy Drop Texas Toast Shock Trooper Holien Lt Bull Cpl Carrot Hosszupalyi Nolloff Wellsonian mPisi The Capt Kanonier Reichmann Texas Toast Frunze Shock Trooper Heavy Drop Holien Spanish Bombs Cpl Carrot The Christmas Battle Spanish Bombs Frunze Holien Shock Trooper Heavy Drop Texas Toast The Capt Lt Bull Cpl Carrot Anthony Hudson Rearguard action Spanish Bombs mPisi Nolloff Frunze Holien The Capt Ted Heavy Drop Shock Trooper Texas Toast Vadr Cpl Carrot In addition there are 2 others which I have no idea whom they belong to. Both are for the Beast, one of which is written in WPD (which I cannot open BTW). The other was written by someone who played the Russians, and makes mention of the game auto-surrendering on turn 19. It is a short AAR, about 4-5 paragraphs in size.
  17. No problem. Please feel free to ask me any question at any time. I'll do my best to answer them. A good while back I had mentioned May 22nd as the cutoff for AARs. While I have not changed that, I have suggested that we get them in as soon as possible so as to get the winners announced (remember, the Nabla score is without the AAR bonus added in, so the real section winners can't be announced, and the finals started, until I can add the bonuses to the Nabla scores). I have asked that those how are still working on AARs e-mail me so I have an idea of how many more to receive. My apologies for not adding that in. All scores are axis first / allied second. If any one sees any errors please let me know right away. I've just checked the lists I posted last night, and I see your scores posted in 4 of 5 scenarios, with only King of Debrecen missing (see section 2-2). IIRC, you told me you never got KOD finished (can't remember why at the moment). If this is not the case please let me know asap. Are you looking at the averages posted on the ROW BBS? If so, those averages were computed on Windows Excel. I'll have a look at them again when I get home tonight, but I'm pretty sure they are correct. Also, as with the scores listed here, the axis played is always listed first. Those two lists originate from a single excel spreadsheet that I use to record the scores, and I simply cut & paste the data directly into either BBS, so there shouldn't be any mixing up of sides / scores. What data do you think is incorrect? Thank you for the support, and offer to help. To be honest, I don't see myself rushing. With the exception of one score confirmation, everything else has already been turned in. All I'm doing now is sending the scores to someone else to compute. Sure, I could send it a few days later at a more leisurely pace, but I won't gain anything from waiting. I have already stated that I cannot accept anymore scores. BTW, I appreciate, and encourage, others to crunch the numbers to verify that we ll get the same results. I am all for that. However, keep in mind that getting the Nabla score requires a seperate DOS-based program created by Jarmo Hurri. That program was not given to me when Treeburst left, and I didn't know it was required unitl a week ago. It was because of this that I chose to ask Jarmo to crunch the numbers for us. I have since been given the link to download the program, and anyone who is willing to help me out can e-mail me for that link. I would greatly appreciate having an extra set of eyes checking the final scores. Please refer to this link for an explanation of how Nabla works: Nabla scoring system Again, thanks for the support and offer to help. Sergio
  18. Still awaiting confirmation of jjelinek / Gunnersman's score in Rearguard action. Hopefully I can get that by this afternoon, and have the final scores in Jarmo's inbox by this evening.
