  2. Check your mail, Griff! Its all yours! Franko ------------------ Plants and animals die to support your fat ass.
  3. I have a new mega-uber-armored scenario for the CM Community. If you liked "August Bank Holiday", you'll love this one. It may be the only scenario which has naval infantry manning tanks. Like always, I'll email it to anyone who posts here or emails me, but I would prefer if someone would host it (Griffin? Manx? Hint hint). Here's the briefing: THE CHASSEURS COUNTERCHARGE The Destruction of Panzer Brigade 112 at Dompaire September 13, 1944 Turns 50 Weather: Clear Ground Condition: Damp Location: Lorraine Region, France On September 11, General Wade Haislips XV Corps began to push the weakened German 64th Corps back over the Moselle river. Haislips spearhead consisted of the French 2nd Armored Division, commanded by General Jacques Leclerc. Leclerc preferred to fight under American command, rather than under the de Lattres 1st French Army -- perhaps because Haislip spoke perfect French, but most likely because de Lattres was a former Vichy general. Nevertheless, Haislip was pleased, because he had fought with the 2nd Armored in Normandy and respected its combat ability. While the US 79th infantry division pinned the German 16th Infantry Division by frontal attack, Leclerc sent in Groupemenet Tactique Langlade (roughly equivalent to a Combat Command in an American armored division), commanded by Col. Paul Girot de Langlade. The "GTL" soon penetrated through German positions and threatened to encircle them. Meanwhile, the Germans had created three "Panzer Brigades", which comprised the bulk of German armored strength during the Lorraine campaign. They had been created during the summer of 1944 based upon Hitler's suggestions and against the orders of the inspector of armored forces, General Heinz Guderian, who knew something of armored matters. Hitler had ordered that these Panzer Brigades be conserved for a planned counteroffensive in Lorraine. However, Hitler allowed Manteuffel to relase one brigade to save the collapsing 64th Corps. This brigade was Colonel von Usedom's Panzer Brigade 112. On September 12, it began its march to the front. During the evening of September 12, it went into bivouac in a shallow valley from the Village of Dompaire in the West and the neighboring hamlets of Lamerey and Madonne. The French, operating with excellent intelligence provided by local villagers, discovered the German movement and decided to attack first. This scenario is similar a prior scenario of mine called "August Bank Holiday" -- Although historical, it is a resource hog. Don't get mad at me if your machine can't hack it. However, I think the turns will be worth the wait it takes to load. This is a particularly tough battle if you are the French player, but the French won the real battle, so be brave and seek vengeance for 1940! ENJOY YOU CRAZY GROGNARDS! 4. Finally! Bright Orange recognition panels! They've been missing on all mods. Good job! ------------------ Plants and animals die to support your fat ass.
  5. I have completed a New Operation for the CM Community. It is smaller and more "playable" than past operations, but nevertheless should be quite challenging, especially if you like infantry battles. Its historical (of course). I will gladly email anyone a copy. However, I would appreciate it if someone can host it. Here's the briefing: THIS IS IT January 16-17, 1945 OPERATION ADVANCE -- Four Battles, 25 turns each Night falls on the second battle. Ground Condition: Light Snow Weather: Bad The Ardennes Offensive has passed its peak and the opposing armies have locked themselves in an icy grip along the freezing Bulge salient. The Americans are seeking to recapture lost ground, while the Germans seek to retain the gains for which they have fought and recapture the momentum of their offensive. In this Operation, elements of the 2nd Infantry Division seek to open the Ondenval-Iveldingen Pass to enable the advance of the 7th Armored Division to St. Vith. In their way stand heavily armed and well-equiped German infantry. All historical figures are marked with an asterisk (*). One historical figure, Charles B. MacDonald, commanded Item Company. He writes that before the battle "my inexperience [at attacking] made me afraid. The old phrase 'This is it,' ran through my mind again and again." This battle is best played, and meant to be played, as the American player, with fog of war turned on. There is no German briefing. Also, set the German player to default set-up (the first time you play). Historical Sources: MacDonald, Charles B. Company Commander MacDonald, Charles B. A Time For Trumpets: The Untold Story of the Battle of the Bulge Pallud, Jean Paul. The Battle of the Bulge, Then and Now. [plus other citations omitted] ENJOY YOU CRAZY GROGNARDS! ------------------ Plants and animals die to support your fat ass.

  7. Okay, I'm in the middle of finishing up a new operation for all your enjoyment..however, it looks ugly..its set in the wintertime and I want to know what the BEST non-gridded snow terrain mod is out there...and has somebody design SNOW ROADS that you can see???? I mean, every photo I've seen of the Ardennes shows the "snow road" as a muddy track which you would be able to see JUST FINE on a CM map. HELP! Franko ------------------ Plants and animals die to support your fat ass.
  8. Excellent link. thanks. F. ------------------ Plants and animals die to support your fat ass.

  14. After a one-month hiatus from scenario design (I've been in trial), I am pleased to get back in to the CM arena with my newest scenario..its small but fun (I hope), and anyone can have it if you post here. If any of you webmasters want to host it..let me know. The scenario is primarily designed to be played solitaire s American. Its purely historical with no thought given to "balance". Here's the American briefing: Private Zellin, one of the battalion messengers, arrived midway in the afternoon with a stranger whom he introduced as Fred Bankers, a war correspondent with the Associated Press. Mr. Benkers was writing a feature story on life inside the Siegfried Line. He took the names and addresses of most of the company headquarters men and Sergeant Castro's mortar squad and asked questions about the life we were living. "Well, if you're from Boston", he said to Butare, the 2nd Platoon runner, "I suppose what you'd like best about now is a dish of good old Boston Baked beans, right?" "Thats right," Butare smiled, "Nothing better." The correspondent then turned to Private Croteau. "And how about you?" he asked. "What would you like best from the States about now?" Croteau was sullen and seemed to object to the correspondent's questions. "I've got nothing to say", he said morosely. The other men looked up with a sudden interest in what was being said. The correspondent seemed to miss the tenseness which his question and the answer had developed. "Oh come now," he said. "Surely there's something we could say you're missing for the folks back home." "I've got nothing to say," Croteau said with an inflection in his voice. I looked at his eyes. There was a curious flame kindling there that caused his eyes to sparkle in the flickering candlelight of the pillbox. The correspondent started to speak again. "OK," Croteau interrupted. "I've got something to say. Tell them it's too damned serious over here to be talking about hot dogs and baked beans and things we're missing. Tell them it's hell, and tell them there're men getting killed and wounded every minute, and they're miserable and they're suffering. Tell them it's a matter more serious than they'll ever be able to understand. Spread it on thick...and leave off the sweet syrup that all the others write about"...there was a choking sob in his voice..."tell them its rough as hell. Tell 'em its rough, serious business. That's all. That's all." That night, Croteau became the thirteenth man to be evacuated from our pillbox positions. My company strength was now only 123. Only eight men to defend the actual forward firing positions. Eighty men to defend a five-hundred yard front with a two-hundred gap in the right flank. I climbed into my bunk. It seemed like I had been asleep for hours when I awoke suddenly with a start. Sparky's voice came to me from somewhere in the distance. "I'm trying to get artillery! I'm trying to get artillery!" Blackburn's voice was somewhere there beside it. "Get me Captain Anderson! Get me Captain Anderson!" I jumped from my bunk. My feet stung from the rought contact with the concrete floor. There was artillery and mortars exploding in my head. I couldn't think. I shook my head sharply to clear the sleep from my brain. The Germans had come again. There was a wild look in Sparky's eyes. "They've hit all three platoons Cap'n." "Head on. They're pounding the hell out of 'em." -- Captain Charles MacDonald ENJOY!
  15. Okay, I realize this is utterly sexist and pedestrian of me...but I'm SOOOOOOOO Excited when I find a woman who actually PLAYS this stuff and enjoys it! Cool. Frank ------------------ Ruth, Ruth! We March!
  16. There was no snow that day. There was snow on December 16 and 17, but it had melted off by the 19th, 20th. Frank
  17. Someone just posted a thread about the HBO series called "Band of Brothers"..I just thought I'd announce that I'm almost through with the Band of Brothers Scenario Pack, based on the same book by Ambrose (after laborious fact-checking, BTW, Ambrose can be frightfully inaccurate sometimes). Four of the scenarios are complete (including an interesting one where E Company rides into battle on British Cromwells).
  18. Dang! I might as well announce it...I'm doing a scenario series called "Band of Brothers", based on the book. Four of them are complete! Frank
  19. If you guys liked "August Bank Holiday", you'll love this one (I hope). It is now available for playtest. Big uber-armor engagement between Veteran French Tankers (and Naval Infantry on Tank Destroyers!) versus an inexperienced but well-equipped Panzer Bridade. If you're interested in platesting, post to this site. I need playtesters for both side, and you gotta finish within four days, so I can release this monster. Frank
  20. You duh man...but you set my scenario design stuff back a few days. damn you.
  21. Unfortunately, you cannot. I'm sorry to break it to you..but I learned it the hard way, too. Frank
  22. Thank you for clarifying some of the operations stuff in that other post..and thanks to all the the members of the CM community who shamelessly bumped it! Thanks everyone! P.S. Two New Operations and Three Scenarios are on the way! Bump There it is! Bump There it is! Ruth! Ruth! We Bump!
  23. Thank you BTS! You guys are awesome man! That gives me enough to chew on for now! I have two new ops and three scenarios to finish! Frank
  24. Yes...this is particularly annoying and I would love to know why this happens, too, and how to prevent it.
