2. Double post. [This message has been edited by thomasj (edited 08-10-2000).]
3. My guess would be he is going to a Local Area Network get together and he wants to have all the KEWL stuff he can get to show others there and convert as many of them as possible. Am I on the right track here? [This message has been edited by thomasj (edited 08-10-2000).]
4. I would very much like to know all of the players that are GMT+1 also. I am american living in The Netherlands, in South Limburg, near the city of Maastricht. Would be willing to play PBEM games would prefer though to play TCP/IP when it comes out, and even have peopel over to play for I have 5 machines at my house more then able to run CM. =] Let me know people. For if I don't hear from you I'll have to assume your all watjes! LOL Just kidding of course.
5. I think to answer the original post/question you have to look at when the conceptional designing began on all German tanks. The work on the Tiger started back in 1937 and true lessons learned about its design weren't really known until after late 41, early 42 when it started taking heavy losses to the Russians. Which by that time the Tiger II or King Tiger was already way past developement stages, and we all know what it meant for something they were building to make it past conception, mock up, testing, and into production. It was a huge accomplishment for anything new to go into production without being delayed longer with changes or scraped completely.
6.
quote:
Originally posted by Bad Ju Ju: It's a known fact that German halftracks used to ride along while infantry squads hung outside and whacked down Allied mailboxes.

LOL. Oh my sides hurt. ouch, leave my ribs alone......Should have had a warning on that one! I pictured a 251/1 hauling ass down a road with a rifle 44 squad drinking beer and swinging fausts at mailboxes.
7. US Army, 90-98, 1st Armored Division, Germany. Did my whole stunt there, deployed three times: Storm, IFOR, and Warsaw. "If it moves, shoot it!"
8. AXIS is full and has 4 in the pipe for now as alternates. Please though, feel free to email me. Send an email though with your name, handle, and a little about your CM experience. Thanks Oberführer Thomas
9. Yeah, I mean that kind of information would be great eh pilot? Too bad though they have not recieved their orders/commands yet. Though they will in a few hours. "Hans are you cold? ya. Then go over there and hit on that allied tank. You know they light first time, all the time!"
10. Just a side note. If you have emailed me to be a sub commander for AXIS you are in at this time. At the same time those of you that have not gotten involved and want to fight for a lost cause please email the Allied commander and request a command. If he has none now I assure you that he will shortly have a WIDE range of command slots available for filling.
11. I wish I could remember the name of the company that did the program for the digital versions of the military unclassified maps. Anyone else think of thier name of the program name please post. I am almost sure without even looking or asking that the military version is for Government use only and wouldn't want to go down that road anyway. I do however believe that the company also released it for the public, but have no clue what it was called. Great 1 over 125,000 maps and beyond!
12. People, Can we agree to at least let this go? I have never spoken a word in either direction nor do I care to. Two threads on this have lead to nothing but the locking of them, there for I see this one heading no where rapidly also. The absolute bottom line to all this is that it is between BTS and CCJ, not us. Thanks Now how about the RPG for CM by Pillar? I am still taking field commander applications for my AXIS army.
13. Congratulations! A success that is well deserved! We are all hoping for nothing but the best for you guys for your success means add-ons, future versions, and new releases!
14. Everyone that is wanting to join either side please send us an email with your name and forum handle. Please bear with us as I am waiting for more information so I can decide on how many initial commanders I would like to have. Thanks James
15. Pillar, I have sent you several AXIS relative questions in email. I will be checking my email up to 2300 hours GMT +1. Things are looking rather well eh?
16. Pillar, I believe that it would be in the best interest of all players and in the spirit of Roleplaying that all all elements for the RPG be completely new. IE the map, etc. This way no one person or side has an advantage in out of character knowledge, and also are not confirned to historical blunders. The timeline and equipment is fine, but things such as geographic areas and terrain should be your creation. Just my 2 cents.
17. Hyperstork & olebooya, Send me an email soon. I am starting my, should we say interviews, for field commanders. Pillar, Looks like I left my email at work on and will have to wait until tomorrow to start the flow of email from me then. Any ideas on overall forces sizes so I can work out the number of field commanders I would like to have? One other question/concern. Can we keep the use of HUGE and large maps for battle down to a minimun to promote faster and easier gameplay while we a tuning the system to its best potential? Thanks
18. BTW i think your movement point idea is really good. On the map part, could you not generate several HUGE QB maps to make your area of operation? This way we would have grids, roads, towns, bridges, terrain, pregenerated and from there you could change it how you see fit. I imagine though that maybe the roads would be a hard part for they may not line up from map to map, but the grid update for CM would give us grids lines.
19. I love the sub idea. The idea of being a field marshall is quite entertaining. Nah, really it would make for really great RPG'ing. Specially on the strategic level. The recon part, is going to be very interesting there are many way to try and work it out, will get with you Pillar on my ideas via email, have to keep my war secrets don't I? How are we going to work out forces? numbers, types, quality, year? I believe this will factor in the ideas for the recon to a large degree. Off for now, will check back in later for more input/output.
20. Well........I'm not a NAZI, but I am fairly competent with the German forces. Prior military and tons of RPG experience. I am GMT +1 working for DOD here overseas and might be able to crank out even more than a few emails a day. So if ya'll have me, I'll be the AXIS. "The desert fox commands again?"
21. Glad to know that I am not too far off the beaten path with that thought. Maybe it could be something that could be focused on as a seperate addon, or maybe something in one of the follwoing releases. I believe though the time involved with the PBEM style of COOP will suffer. Not that it is not a great idea, but because of the time involved to make a few turns, let alone complete a battle. I must say though, however it comes, a COOP option is something for serious consideration IMO.
22. Maybe I'm being over optimistic, but would there be a way to do this with multiple people on the TCP/IP LAN/WAN game? Iamgine it that way with maybe a VON(Voice Over Network) program open to talk to the other players to carry out roles. Just a thought, use a VON when playing many other network games on my LAN/WAN. Not to mention people would use email to set the date and time for the game.
23. Former SL/ASL, Twighlight 2000, and many other games, player.
24.
quote:
Originally posted by Lorak: **disclaimer** I'm an idiot. ************** But how about this for an idea. Have two major players run a game(duel GM's). Then have 2 or three players under them.(setup has to be done by GM's) Each player will control a certain amout of assets in the game.given to them by the GM. The players then send in writting there moves for thier troops for that turn. The GM's enter the moves for thier side and send the turn. The players only get to see thier sides movies. And then send in orders for their men again. Would be interesting, and maybe some cool what if's. "I see that squad taking some fire, should I use my tank to give them some support? or continue on?" stuff like that. Sort of like a mini-CMMC but played on one battle map. After that battle is done, GM's decide figures, loses, ect, for the nest battle. Stupid? crazy? might just work? Lorak

That would be a great idea! I mean imagine a TCP/IP lan option where many people could play and control small parts of the assets on the board of one side or another. So instead of only two people playing a LAN youy could have multiple people playing as platoon or company commanders.
