1. Sigh ... Just tried playing CM:BO in Classic after updating to OS X 10.2.3. Still no joy. I'm losing hope that Apple will ever improve RAVE support in Classic to match what CM needs.
2. I had a gamey tactic used against me once when my opponent snuck a single Bazooka team along the edge of the map and into hiding where my reinforcements were to show up. I lost my single Panther that was part of my reinforcement.
3. I know that the Tiger's turret was motor-driven, so I assume this was also used on other German tanks.
4. It occured to me today that I don't know why German turrets are slow. Why are German turrets slow?

6. Requested by whom? How screen shots turned out was an important factor in designing the game's graphics? It sounds like there's more to this story!
7. First, I'm not big on the topic title of this thread since it sounds like CM:BB is just a big pile of letdowns and this thread is devoted to listing the biggest ones. I'm very impressed with the monsterous amount of work that the Battlefront.com team has expended to get CM:BB this far. Great job! I am so excited about CM:BB and I'm so impressed by the talent of the BF.com team that I'm actually putting my thoughts of how to make the game even better into words. There's no other game out there that inspires me to actually write down what I think would make it even better. Just want it to be clear to BF.com that I applaud their efforts and that I am enjoying the demo very much. I would improve the game by: Adding a way to go back to the previous screen while browsing scenarios. Currently, once you pick one, you have to advance through all the screens, load the map & graphics, and only then can you Abort and return to the main screen. You can't read the scenario summary or detail, decide you don't want to play it and return to the main screen. "Side turret hit." What side? Please consider adding some "left / right" detail when it's appropriate. Like in CM:BO, you can determine what experience level your enemy is. I've never read a good explanation of how my troops could know if the enemy is Green, Regular or Veteran experience. I think it should be up to the player to watch the enemy's behaviour and figure that out for himself.
8. Sounds like what we need here is the shockwave effect added to CM:BB, but with a hotkey to toggle it on or off, depending on which side you think has the greener grass.
9. I agree with most of everything posted above. A wonderful, fantastic effort by Battlefront.com! However; the voice acting needs some more tuning to my ears. I swear that some of the voices sound like they were recorded inside a bathroom with an echo. Definitely not up to the same quality of the rest of the work that shines in the demo. Also, the shock wave bubble effects are gone! I love the shock wave bubbles from artillery and around tank gun barrels in CMBO. They make up with visual what your speakers can't possibly re-create. Bring back the shock waves!
10. At my present rate, I'll have it in 2 hours. Surely a faster server will open before then!
11. I'll happily buy and play CM:BB in OS 9 the way I currently play CM:BO. I'll even more happily buy and play CM:BB in OS X if / when it's able to - but I wouldn't ask BF.com to hold up the September release of the Mac version of the game just for that. As I've said before, I will also pay money for a OS X version of the first CM:BO. I also like to think that there's an opportunity for BF.com to re-make CM:BO with the enhancements that will be a part of CM:BB and make some more money. I wouldn't have any problems giving my credit card number for such a "CM:BO II."
12. I don't suppose CMBB has animated wheels yet, does it? Watching pretty vehicles slide over the ground like they're on skis sort of ruins all the hard work the artists gave to make them look good standing still!
13. Not exactly the same, but I once had a Greyhound put a shot into the building it was hiding behind. That's not interesting in itself. But the coincidental voice of a nearby HQ shouting "Pay Attention!" right afterwards was very funny!
14. But a media player like Quicktime wouldn't let you move the camera around. You'd see only what the maker of the movie recorded in his chosen camera view. The introduction Quicktime movies in CM are like this.
15. Getting yourself out of tough situations and coming up with plans "B" and "C" are much of what make Combat Mission fun! Did a single enemy tank on the battlefield defeat your defense? What could you have done to make the tank less potent? Spread out so the tank can't attack all of you at once? Better positions so the tank can't see you from across the map and has to get closer? Better use of sharpshooters and mortars to harrass the tank and keep it buttoned? Try playing a similar match again. Buy yourself an all-infantry defense and practice going up against what ever the computer picks for itself. Adjust the settings to give a hanicap in your favour and gradually reduce it as you get better. I guarantee that learning how to handle tanks when you can't just shoot at them will make you a formidable player.
16. I think what we have here is an illustration of what Combat Mission players are. They want detail. They want accuracy. It's what makes Combat Mission their favourite game and they expect even more detail and accuracy from it's next form. Even down to the spelling of it's name.
17. I believe that the flying dots you see in the movie aren't supposed to be individual grenades being thrown but rather they simply represent the infantry attack on the halftrack. [ June 04, 2002, 01:21 PM: Message edited by: Toad ]
18. Would you please explain what you mean by "gift CM."
19. One tip: Be sure the Crocodile isn't hull-down to the target. I had it happen a few times where a slight hill meant the hull mounted flame thrower couldn't see the target.
20. I've thought about a similar idea, but using a price scale that comes from the historical rarities of different units. Some units would be very common and not suffer an increasing-price penalty. Others would be very rare with a rising price scale that modelled the slim chance of ever seeing more than a few of them in a battle. The prices could also be adjusted according to the time of the battle, so that the historical availabilites of different units during '44 and '45 could be modelled. I would also have a master "on / off" switch for this, so people who didn't want to play with the historical constraints could turn it off.
21. This has been discussed before, but I didn't find any new news in my searches. What was the latest news on being able to play CM:BB with more than two people? For example, a network match were two people each control half of the German forces and two other people each control half of the Soviets?
22. Any one else ever seen this happen? The halftrack has just fallen off the bridge after being killed seconds before. The strange pillar of fire went away on it's own. But I've never seen anything like it before. A new German weapon, perhaps? Fire from the sky
23. I agree. My Windows friends and I have enjoyed many e-mail, Internet, and LAN games of CM. CM remains one of the last remaining reasons for me to re-boot my Mac into OS9 once in a while. I'm looking forward to BTS having the time to work on an OSX version. Toad
quote:
I am sincerely greatful that it is TOTALLY cross platform and that I can play SEAMLESSLY against PC users both in e-mail and via TCP/IP

24. Today I tried CM with the general release of 10.1 without success.
