  3. Funny you ask for a big scenario how dose this sound? Its almost ready for release, we are just warping up beta test. The map is ready, just tweaking the forces a little. Big Valley v1.1 Date: 9/44 (5/25/01) Length: 40 turns Side: American (U.S.) Vrs German (SS) Size: Reinforced Motorized Battalion-level (with large armor attachments) Battle: Semi-Historical Meeting Engagement Location: Eastern France Weather: Clear & Dry Author: Tom the "Big Dog" Oliver CM: v 1.12 Best Played: as PBEM Designer’s Notes: 1. This is a huge map, with a large force it will most likely tax slower systems. With the heavy tree cover and distances that need to be covered, the AI has trouble and it’s not advisable to play against the AI. 2. The map has multiple approaches, good cover and is set up for equal play. Both forces are equal in points & composition. I set it up so that the opening forces are using Fionn Kelly’s Short 75 rule, then about 1/3 way through the battle we move into Fionn Kelly’s Panther 76 rule. Total points are approximately 10000 per side 6000pts with the opening force. 4000pts in reinforcements, broken into 3rds. 3. Its mid September and Patton’s 3rd Army lead by the 4th Armored Division, is driving up from the South East. As they push North East the Germans continue to try to slow the 3rd Army’s advance to the unmanned Siegfried Line. 4. The battle is take control of the main bridge at the center of map. The Valley runs East–West with a winding river running through the center. There are 3 bridges in the Big Valley. The main stone bridge in the center, a small wood bridge at the West end of the valley & a longer wood rail bridge at the East end. The river has numerous fords for infantry crossings. 5. For the Americans you must cross to the North side of the river and establish & control a bridgehead at the main crossing. 6. For the Germans you must stop Patton’s spearhead and try to reestablish a MLR at the river. 7. If you’re like me preferring larger battles with lots of options to achieve victory I think you will enjoy this Scenario. Both sides’ needs to cover their flanks with the diagonal setup zones it makes for the best kind of meeting engagement. Please let me know what you think of Big Dogs Big Valley. We appreciate all comments, or suggestion for improvement. toliver2@home.com I would like to thank the Big Dog testing team. Without there help & input I could not have made this a truly balanced scenario. Murry the "Claymore" Darrach Michael Keating Levi Klein Big Dog

  11. Hey Slapy I will give you a roll in the hay But lets make it a larger battle QB 3000pts Combined Arms, Meeting Engagement, Fionn Kelly's Panther 76 Rule Large Map, Farmland, Small Hills, Moderate Trees, Clear & Dry What ya think Bro? ohhh I will take Allied Big Dog [This message has been edited by Bigdog (edited 01-20-2001).]
  12. This is what I have been saying. I hope this thread doesn't degrade into another flame war, and that all these important points get addressed by BTS. I just started 2 PBEMs ME, CA, 2000pts. It sure feels like I need to be in more of defensive posture, other than advancing up to engage the Allied forces. Jeff you are the man I love you guy's, its nice to now I am not standing alone on this important subject Big Dog
  13. Thank you Vanir. Well I missed this when it came out. 1. The Germans have a much wider range of choice in combat effective vehicles that fall into the "vehicles" category rather than the "armor" category (e.g. all the cannon-armed halftracks). 2. The real German army was more likely to put non-tank AFVs in front-line combat than the Allies were. This is mainly a reflection of the numbers and types of vehicles that they had at their disposal. Giving equal portions for armor to Axis and Allies in combined arms would result in Allied formations that are way too heavy on halftracks. Charles I think worlds of BTS and I believe this is the best game out there. But I stand by what I said, this give's the Allied force an unfair advantage in QBs Combined Arms, Meeting Engagement 1.By reducing Axis armor availability by 1/3 it will put's the Axis in a defensive posture from turn 1. and witch will make taking control of VLs a much tougher task. 2.Game play I know no one wants talk about it. But CM is a game so its is a big part of the appeal of the game. So when you have two guys that want to test there ability too lead there men in battle, shouldn't there be a least 1 balanced battle, that both opponents feel they have the same resource base to pull from? That battle is the Combined Arms, Meeting Engagement. 3. I believe these changes will create a less historical QB by force the Axis player into purchasing more 234/2 & 234/3 to try make up for the deficit in armor we all know using AT guns in offence's roll is difficult at best (a Meeting Engagement is a offensive battle is it not?) and lets not even talk about using a SPW 250/8 against a M4s. So we will start to see more gamy tactics witch is is not good for game. I have to admit I am not a Gonad to me Big Gun Little Gun, Thin Armor Thick Armor, Fast Slow, it works for me. I am a better than average none gamy player that loves CM. I wish BTS would respond to these questions. Big Dog [This message has been edited by Bigdog (edited 01-18-2001).]
  14. Cav your a Troll. Please let me correct myself QB Combined Arms Meeting Engagement. Go back to the 1st page that opened this topic will that work for you? Big Dog
  15. No Cav I want the same points, if you have 600 I want 600. If you can get 6AFV I mite get 4AFV mite get 6AFV its my choice how I spend my 600 pts its your choice how you spend your 600. Why is this such a hard concept? If you feel German armor is to cheep that's were it needs to be looked at not like this. Big Dog
