Thanks for the responses. Mainly, the reason I want the flails in is because one can't accurately model this particular battle without them. They were integral to the tactical execution of the operation as a whole.

I'm still trying to talk my g/f (who lives a mere 1,500 miles away) to get CM. She's fascinated by my Civil War games. There's hope....

If not trenches, then at least anti-tank ditches. Practically every battle map of useful scale that I've looked at has them shown, and I'm still trying to figure out how to model them for a scenario.

That has been my experience. Once a crewman is hit, they are useless as a fighting vehicle.

Hehehe.... Just from the description I know what scenario you're playing. Thus I will tender no advice. Do what feels right.

As Xavier mentions, there was such a bewildering variety of them that there is no way BTS could model them all. Most of the Normandy offerings contained second line guns, captured stuff &c.

Close combat weapon seems right, or perhaps "close combat defence". Sounds like schrecks and fausts to me.

A plague, a pox, and a hangnail on those who post pics bigger than my screen and make me shuttle back and forth, left and right, to read the thread.
Kick his ass, Berli.

Okay, you have the demo. Have you read the readme file which came with it? That gives a good overview of the game functions.

Camo jobs for German vehicles were never consistent due to a variety of reasons. Lack of paint, lack of fuel to mix the paint with, lack of a working compressor for spray application... The list goes on. Even the shades of the brown and green varied due to variations in mixing it.
Practically any combination of brown and/or green over dunkelgelb, in any pattern, is accurate enough. It's only when trying to model specific vehicles at specific times that accuracy becomes important.

I'm working on my first historical scenario, the attacks around Carpiquet airfield by the Canadians early in July. This attack was led by funnies (flails and crocs) borrowed from the British to clear the way. Unfortunately, the first snag I ran into was the lack of flail tanks which were used. This area is big and flat with literally kilometres of flat, unobstructed terrain. To accurately recreate this assault against the dug-in SS, it would be very nice to have these unique vehicles available.

Back in the good ol' 70s, "Acapulco Gold" was very popular, but BC bud has replaced it in recent years.

Well, there's certainly lots of photographic evidence of de-turreted tanks, but it probably didn't occur more than one time in a hundred, if that. Maybe for CM2. It would make some nice eye candy.

I think "Panzer Colours" or some other German camo book has a Panther with a pattern not very different from that. A little more wavy, but still close.

Production began in December '44 and continued to March '45. 89 units were produced in total.

Actually you CAN give the Poles captured German equipment (well, sort of) if you use a little imagination. Here's what to do:
1) For the Panther(s) give them something comparable from the US or British inventory, say an M4A3 with 76mm just as an example.
2) Before playing the scenario, temporarily swap the textures for the M4A3(76) (or whatever vehicle you chose) with the textures for the Panther (suitably marked with patriotic Polish slogans and home army markings).
Now they will have a tank which *looks* and behaves like a Panther. It will not have the same armour characteristics of course, but if you're willing to fudge it a little you should get the effect.
