  1. Not if a message came up that said your opponent was using non-standard values (and listing them precisely). Similar to the warning you get when one side's forces has been bumped up. Might work. Don't really see a need for it though.

  2. If ya want one just for the coolness factor and if ya live in the Toronto area, I got a Mauser 71/84 for sale. All numbers match. Dated 1888 with Spandau factory stamp and Royal Cypher. 11mm (.43 cal). Polished receiver. Excellent condition.

    Make me an offer. smile.gif

  3. Standard doctrine for passengers when being fired on is to get the hell out. Dismount. Seek cover most ricky-tick. Fighting it out from the back of the vehicle is not an option.

The role of the APC is to get you through enemy artillery and into the battle area. It is not a fighting vehicle per se.

  4. Any chance us poor Canucks can get unique textures for vehicles and infantry instead of sharing them with the Brits?

I'm modifying some of the existing ones to show Canadian patches on the uniforms and correct markings on the vehicles, but it's a real pain to swap them into the bmp folder each time I play a scenario with Canadians.

I ask this because little details like that maple leaf on the fender and the coloured divisional patch on the infantry's sleeve really add to the immersion of the game.

LOL - you reminded me of when I was a kid playing Battleline's Flattop game. My opponent was a little miffed when I landed my Bettys on my carriers to refuel...

Stuff like that will happen. No use gettin' bent outa shape about it.

As for "mixed" forces, Germans are especially tricky, but since it's one nationality it's not nearly as annoying as a mixture of all the "best" equipment from the entire Allied arsenal.

  6. Well, anti-tank mines won't have much effect on infantry...

Remember also that a 20m x 20m minefield isn't terribly big. A proper minefield would be much, much larger.

Haven't seen any Cullins textures yet.

  7. There's just something about the way "gamey" players play that goes above and beyond breaking this rule or that. One can usually tell right away because you will see so MANY things that seem questionable. These are the people to avoid.

I sometimes use jeeps and other fast transport to deposit schrecks, zooks, piats, whatever, a few hundred yards ahead of my main line of resistance. If they happen to blunder into an enemy tank then the resultant confusion might look gamey on the surface. Ya gotta give your opponent the benefit of the doubt when possible.

But the real gamey ones -- they're easy to spot.

Gotta disagree with ya on that one, big guy. A couple of pistol packers who are probably already deaf, numb, thirsty and more than a little singed around the edges have no place in my battle line. They go for the nearest cover and into hide mode until they can crawl away.

If your force is whittled down to where the infantry can't do the job then it's time to submit a cease fire request.

Against the A/I I'll do anything (hell, one time I used a group of prisoners to march ahead of my tanks and sweep for mines smile.gif ), but I truly hate being rushed by stray crews and I wouldn't do it to somebody else.

  9. They don't even need to be that close to the enemy, to judge by some of the stories I've heard. Jabos are a caveat emptor purchase for sure.

On the other hand, watching that perfectly positioned StuH which had me stalled detonate under a stream of rockets was pretty sweet smile.gif

  10. I had the good fortune to have some CAS appear on time, on target, and to good effect, dropping two 500 lb bombs and a slurry of rockets onto my opponent over several turns. Two well-positioned AFVs were spectacularly KIA'd. Scared the hell out of me when they ran out of targets and started strafing a wreck though...
