  1. No doubt a stupid question with a simple answer but how is it done?
  2. I also paused to remember the guys who hit the beachs on d-day all those years ago.. What sticks in my mind is the scene in SPR when the gang plank on the landing craft dropped down, and we all know what happened then. That scene and what followed honestly put me into a kind of shock when I saw it at the movies for the first time. I reckon my jaw was hitting the floor, I know I was crouching in my chair to instinctively take "cover" from the surround sound bullets but what was the outstanding thing was the panic I was feeling for those guys. My brain was shouting "do something, do something!" as they huddled behind the pitifully small cover the landing craft obstacles offered them..My girlfriend cried and I did'nt really talk to anyone for about 3 days. No-one ever deserves to be put through that kind of ****. SPR is the only video I have ever bought to keep, more of a reminder that war sucks, but playing war(CM) can be cool. It's kind of eerie, enjoying playing so much something that represents something so terrible. Still, I reckon I can live with myself. Hats off to the veterans!
  3. As we all profess to be master tacticians of some sort, here is a tactic to ensure wife/girlfriend free game time. (a) Ensure a constant steady diet of chilli, indian curry (extra hot), cheese, roast chicken and beer. ( Close all windows and doors © Proceed to emit a dense and foul cloud which will bring new meaning to "fog of war" (d) Enjoy interruption free gaming!! Simple isn't it guys? Smelly Stuka out
  4. O.K. by me if CM is another 2 weeks in coming. Here in Australia I've got university exams on 19th & 23rd june. There is a definite chance of complete failure (that's even if I show up at the exams) if CM arrives before then! Studying Stuka out
  5. Are we talking about the anti-tank gun or the infantry gun? Is the infantry gun suitable for use on tanks or best kept for soft targets?
  6. Thanks guys, those suggestions should be a big help. I feel so responsible for my troops, it's kind of depressing when they die because of a foul-up on my part. Typical stuka eh? Slow, defenceless and only brave in large groups!!
  7. nice one Joe! I think we can all write our family/social lives down to zero when that blessed parcel finally arrives!!
  8. I have noticed a difficulty in placing units in the correct part of a building for them to be effective. For example in CE I had 2 US rifle squads in the lower floor of the big building (church?)acting as defence for the .50 cal mg that I had on the top floor. AHa! thinks I, I got you germans now, a nice supressing fire from our pal with the M/G, a Sherman on either side of the church and under cover of all this I figure I can move my squads forward for a little hand to hand. But wait!, old mate with the M/G has no LOS, even from the top floor! Clicking on him indicates he is positioned at the rear of the top floor probably waving hello to his friends still moving up from the start off point. It seems I couldn't move him over to the windows facing the enemy to do his job. Guys, am I doing something wrong here?
  9. Not only does the laying down of untold numbers of smoke shells spoil LOS and waste ammo, my poor old pentium 200 struggles to cope with the graphics!!! More smoke coming out of my CPU than there is on the screen! Smok'in Stuka
  10. While playing VOT as the dirty hun,(2 am this morning)I had a rifle squad hidden in trees in the far left flank, just forward of the barbed wire. While I was busy on the right flank and unfortunately moving on to the next turn so I can't see the replay,I've now got a large area of fire just in front of the squad's position. There were U.S. troops (including a flamethrower) in the vicinity but not too close. I couldn't find the F/Thrower unit later, maybe they did a suicide charge and got nailed in the process? Or could it be just a fire started by HE artillery? The smoke was black, possibly indicating a jellied gasoline fire rather than timber? Certainly added to the visual effect! Stuka out...
  11. yeah, wouldn't it be cool to nail a flamethrower team with a burst of heavy m/g and watch them flame up and take out any nearby units aka the beach scene in SPR?
