Possible, but not very likely. In real life the number of times a bridge was blown within the context of an ongoing tactical battle could probably be counted on one hand. And when the bridge was blown, if blown successfully, then the battle basically ended.
Deliberate destruction of a bridge is one of those features that sounds far better in abstract discussions than actually would be in terms of historical reality or an overall net positive impact on gameplay. Since all things take time to code, test, and tweak... we likely won't get around to this any time soon.
Steve
Fair enough Steve and thanks for quickly answering my question. I had the examples of the Son bridge and Arnhem rail bridge in mind, but as Michael points out they are probably more relevant to an operational game.

Press version, no worries
Answer is you can't blow bridges. In real life this would take hours and a truck of explosives. Not something done under combat conditions.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Might it be possible in future revision of CMBN to include this as a scenario editor feature similar to a wire IED found in CMSF?

I too qualify as a lurker having joined the board back in the CMBO beta days. I've purchased every Combat Mission game and am eagerly awaiting CMBN which I have pre-ordered.

Was watching NOVA this week and they mentioned that the break walls all over the devastated areas were less effective because the coast subsided by 1 m during the quake.

Can someone tell me approximately how much it would cost for S & H to Canada. It may be cheaper for me to get the download version only vs. the pre-order as I could then burn a DVD of the download as my hard copy back-up.
Hi CanuckGamer, Shipping and handling to Canada is $14. However, the Canada Revenue Agency may take an additional cut depending on how the dice roll as the package crosses the border.

Yeah essentially it's using MGs like artillery. By pointing MGs skyward with a spotter somewhere and hail an area with bullets from above. But didn't this first start in WWI and was used very little in the beginning of WWII? Not sure about this.
Use of machine guns in an indirect fire mode was pioneered by a Canadian major Raymond Brutinel and was used quite effectively during the battle of Vimy Ridge.

Ruthless,
Thanks to you I was quickly able to restore my ability to play CMSF after a Zone Alarm update.

As a Canadian, I too am looking forward to the NATO module and am curious to see what mix of equipment will be represented in the game. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Coyote and Leopard II.

Hi Steve,Originally posted by Battlefront.com:JohnE,
No, not yet. Charles wants to deal with the multi processor thing on its own.
Steve
As a Quad Core owner, I look forward to any multi-core enhancements that you can offer in future patches. Given the performance stress that CMSF puts on the CPU and the fact that multiple cores on processors are the future, it would probably be wise to devote some resources there (Sorry Charles!). Establishing some multi-threaded code in the near future would help with the overall longevity of the CMX2 engine and would provide a nice performance boost to those of us with multiple core systems.
Thank you as well Steve for still being accessable after all these years. I had a great deal of respect for you guys back when CMBO was released and I still do today.
I do look forward to other fixes as well since CMSF came out of the oven just a bit too soon.

Taki,Originally posted by Taki:@Moon: Thx for your Support. BFC and their Forums are the Only Game i ever played where the Gamedesigners actually Read and answered the Questions and Suggestions from the Users.
That is one of the very nice features that makes the Battlefront forums so good, some wonder if it really is the game?

Speaking of Leo's, there are reports (Globe & Mail) that Canada is preparing to send at least 10 Leo C2's over to Afghanistan to support operations there.

Looks very interesting.
I look forward to seeing more info over the coming days.

Hi Steve,
As others have mentioned, thanks for tossing us some bones lately. In terms of the AI, if I am not mistaken, in CMX1 the computer only plans its moves once the player hits 'go'. Have you considered using a threaded AI in CMX2? Stardock's Galactic Civilization which has a pretty well respected AI, is a threaded one which allows the computer to be planning its moves at the same time the player is plotting his. Taking this approach could allow you to use a fair amount of computational resources without too much impact on gameplay i.e. long waiting times for turn calculation.
Anyways, just a thought.
Thanks again to all the gang at Battlefront for giving us countless hours of enjoyment.

Another critical factor was ULTRA. The British were able to sink much of Rommel's supplies as they crossed the Med leaving him chronically short of materiel.
Reading Rommel's mail allowed an adjustment in strategy. Not that different from peeking at your opponent's move prior to plotting your own.

Michael,Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:Calgary struck out for the weekend too. Hey, maybe I'll have a new hard drive by the time it gets here....
If only I could get that teleportation device working properly I'd send you my 2nd copy of CMAK since I don't require it until Christmas.

Michael,
I wouldn't mind trying out your Ortona campaign as well.
Thanks,

(Edit) P.S. CCRA did not demand their pound of flesh. The slimness of the package probably helped along with the value marked on the package.

Mike,Originally posted by Mike:\Well the Aussies have offered to be targets for the testing of missile defence, and the Yanks have a collective guilt about bombing the shirt out of Nagasaki......what've Canadians ever done for the US other than be a place for 60,000 loyalists to flee too after the revolt of '76?? Hm....??!! oh, and beating them in '12 too....don't forget you beat them in '12!
I know you meant that in jest and I did get a chuckle out of it.
But if truth be told, while Canada has not been very supportive with regards to Iraq, Canada has been very supportive with regards to Afghanistan. Since the start of the "War on Terror"
Ex. Navy
Canada was the first coalition nation after the U.S. to deploy a naval task group into the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility, which stretches from the Horn of Africa to Central Asia. At its peak in January 2002, the Canadian Naval Task Group comprised six warships and about 1,500 Navy personnel.

Army
3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and a recon squadron from Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians)served in Afghanistan the first half of 2002. During that time, 4 soldiers died and eight were injured in a friendly fire bombing by U.S. forces.
Currently there are 1900 troops deployed as part of the international stabilization force in Afghanistan. The 3 RCR Battalion Group deployed with modern LAV III infantry fighting vehicles, LG1 Giat howitzers, and state-of-the-art Coyote reconnaissance vehicles
Air Force has been busy executing Transport and Maritime Patrol missions.
I bring this up to say that Canada still remembers 9/11 and stands with you in the War on Terror. Sure if our forces had been better funded, the commitment could be larger.
