Maybe we could get the Canadian Airborne in a patch?

Okay, you guys raise a good point. I may have inadvertantly helped the pirate scum by starting this thread. I guess it was that I was so darn ticked, I wanted a friendly forum to vent in.

Okay, I've sent the post with the URL to Steve.

Sorry Guys,
But I'm in vent mode. It burns me up to think some slime ball who pre-ordered is now filling the net with pirated copies of this game. Is there no sense of decency left in this world? I can't understand how someone with even a shred of a conscience could do this to Steve and Charles after they have worked so hard to bring us this game.
This rant was brought to you by some guy who goes by the nick Macroshaft who posted in comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.war-historical asking for links to a warez site since his file 15 doesn't work. Anyways, this guy is getting royally flamed and deservedly so!!
I wish there was some way of disabling the game for non-registered users.
Anyways, rant mode off

Still no joy in Mississauga.
Although I don't feel quite so bad since we all seem to be in the same boat.
I wonder, could we be the victims of some of our american brethren pulling a Patton and interdicting our supply lines?
Although with the update today saying the last orders have only gone out today, it may be a longer wait than we expected

0311,
Your worst fears are realized. While I don't have the game just yet, I have heard definite rumours of there being those boxing glove equiped Kangaroos about.

Well RWCanuck,
although we are all jealous, you should get a medal for showing dash and initiative by staging that cross border raid!
Enjoy!

Robertpat,
I wouldn't say it was necessarily that their weapons were bad. The sometimes poor showing of the Canadians can be traced more towards poor leadership.
A fascinating read for any Canadian (and others too) is John English's "Failure in High Command:The Canadian Army and the Normandy Campaign"

Nothing here in Mississauga either.
At least I have next week booked off for vacation.
I wonder what I'll do?

Steve,
Just curious, do you ever sleep?
Chris
P.S. Congrats on a great review. You guys deserve it!

Hi folks,
While those of us who reside in the Great White North await the arrival of CM, I was just curious about the number of missions that might feature our fine boys.
Could any of you who have CM already, give us a quick recon report on the number of Canadian vs German missions?
Thanks
Chris

Hi guys,
I've started a thread in the above newsgroup extolling the virtues of our beloved game. Although the wargames is a 'better' venue for its discussion, this newsgroup has much more traffic. If you do Usenet, go on over and add your 2 cents. Hopefully this will be another way to raise the profile of this truly wonderful game.

Which one is that? The Stacey book? I'm currently reading that, our library has a copy.

Germanboy,
Yes it is the 3 volume set by Stacey
Volume I is entitled
'Six Years of War: The Army in Canada, Britain and the Pacific', Volume II
is entitled 'The Canadians in Italy, 1943-1945' and Volume III is entitled
'The Victory Campaign: The Operations in North-West Europe, 1944-1945
Yes this set is available at the University Library but I wanted a copy for handy reference.

Formerly Babra,
You aren't the only Canadian who feels that way. I must say reading John English's "Failure in High Command" was an eye opening experience. He paints a very different performance picture than the Canadian Corps in the first world war.
Michael Reynold's dedication in "Steel Inferno" sums it up well:To all who fought with honour in Normandy in 1944- many of them deserved better commanders.
Slightly off topic but: Given the weaknesses outlined in English's book, how much worse off is the Canadian army today given the general level of professionalism in our officer corp. I believe we have more general officers today than during WW2 and few have any experience commanding large formations.
On a tactical level though, I would say the Canadians acquited themselves quite well.
I am expecting the arrival any day now of the official history of the Cdn army in WW2 which I have managed to purchase (unfortunately not cheaply) and plan on creating many a scenario. It is a real pity that this book has been out of print for 30 yrs. I will probably concentrate on The Scheldt initially.

I've pre-ordered and eagerly await its release and arrival

Still no sign of it here in Mississauga. The regular mail has come and gone. I'm perched in my observation post looking for any signs of a Can Post truck. My card was charged back on the 15th I think.
