  1. Manx

    Wish List!

    1. Useable buildings. 2. Map & Scenario making tools. 3. Trench systems for static defense scenarios where defender would have had enough time to build them, foxholes used otherwise. I'll wait for the demo before suggesting any more.
  2. Indeed it has. Good to see your still around mate. Again, thanks for the quick reply Moon. Appreciated. Like everyone else i guess i'll just have to wait until the beta-demo is released. Talking about that - Release it already!!
  3. Thanks for that Moon. Is this is mainly due to the hit on system requirements that displaying extra terrain elements would add, or like i suggested, more a gameplay issue? The CMBx series gave a pretty good impression of dense terrain with it's forested areas, bush, undergrowth etc., although admittedly, it's graphics look dated now when compared to ToW. I'm still a little concerned that most maps will consist of attacker attacking trench positions over open fields. Setting up a defensive trench system in the middle of a open field dates back to WWI when airpower didn't play a significant role and isn't something that i've read about occuring too often in WWII apart from in the NA campaign. I'm no WWII grog by any means, but i think that most engagements took place over terrain that tactically provided as much cover as possible, especially to the defender, i.e - villages/towns/cities, forests, hills, river crossings etc. etc.
  4. The bit i like best: "we plan to add more editor features and support modding (map and scenario creation etc.) to the fullest extent after the release."
  5. Thanks. Now that looks better! The more variety in terrain and it's density, the better. Hopefully there will be enough cover and concealment for infantry, AT/assault guns, mg nests etc. to provide the player with some tactical options whether attacking or defending. While i can understand that heavy cover might not be very practical towards ease of gameplay (viewing/selecting units etc.), i do hope we don't end up fighting over open fields most of the time.
  6. In every screenshot i've seen so far tree coverage seems rather sparse, and always lining roads and field boundaries. Are forests and heavy tree populated maps represented?
  7. Nice screenshots! Wish i was able to place a sniper up in that windmill.
  8. Hey, this looks great!! As someone who was involved in the original "Normandy" release for CMBO i know how much work goes into terrain conversions. Best of luck with it David, look forward to trying it out.
  9. Philippe, Thanks mate, good to see you still hanging out here too.
  10. CMMODS slowdown -- Sorry fellas...that's probably due to me frantically downloading all the mods i've missed over the past six months. Great mod Gautrek...thanks!
  11. And a pleasure it was to host them for you too. Top quality stuff! RL puts a stop to any future CM work, although i do miss being involved in some way. Happy times! Still, i acually get to play the games now which is something i didn't get much chance to do when i was running the website. Anyway, it's great to see so many old friends still hanging around here and i hope everyone is well.
  12. Glad to see you are still churning em' out. Great work!
  13. I don't think that many of us who set up the first few CM websites in addition to CMHQ actually took into account just how popular CMBO would become. I certainly didn't. I certainly didn't budget on paying hundreds of £'s each month to host mods. Looking back, i should have left Combat Missions happily running along with Scenarios and Articles as it's primary content.
  14. Rushing 3 whole companies of men across open ground towards what looked like the safety of a shady wood. Needless to say, one turn later my men had been slaughtered to the last man by what turned out to be a full compliment of crack SS Pz Grenadiers (w/heavy mg support) waiting just inside and along the treeline. Come to think of it, most of my worst moments seem to happen on open ground. Strange that. [ June 06, 2003, 12:22 PM: Message edited by: Manx ]
  15. Besides CMBO n' CMBB, Wargames SPWAW Panzer Campaigns: Smolensk41, Korsun 42, Kursk 43, Normandy 44, Bulge 44, and Sicily 44 on order. 16. Nice one, thanks! I too would like to know whether it's okay to install over 1.03b.
  17. Yeah, just got my 2nd Edition today. Thanks for taking the time and effort to gettin' it right. I'll keep the 1st one as a collectors ed.
  18. Another one bites the dust. Thanks to all the "Kessel" team for a great site and some wonderful scenarios. Edit -- What are you going to do with the files hosted on your site? Will they be available elsewhere? [ April 11, 2003, 09:58 AM: Message edited by: Manx ]
  19. Point taken. Anyway, good thinking on your part...always keep em' guessing.
  20. I'm a bit confused (nothin' new there), but i was under the impression that the Med. edition would be released using a new graphics engine. Why have you put it back? Economics, workload, or was i wrong in presuming that this would be the case?
  21. For 1.03 Beta -- Shurely BFC would find it easier to track one dedicated thread or even a temp. forum rather than starting individual threads? [ April 08, 2003, 11:19 AM: Message edited by: Manx ]
  22. Don't go all "corporate" on us -- just do the best ya can and stay true to the faith. That's all i'm asking of BTS and their future products.
  23. Potentially another satisfied customer, thanks to BFC's worldwide sales team. Don't know about Combat Mission, we should be on COMMISSION!
  24. Bo, Where ya getting your mods from? It's just that i don't know of any site that doesn't in some way specify which game it is for before you d/l.
