  1. Boots & Tracks has yet another scenario. Get all the details at CMHQ. Note: I would have posted this sooner, but I just received the update from B&T.
  2. C18, If the "War in Siberia" option is disabled, a group of Soviet reinforcements will arrive around the Ural Mountains.
  3. IE, No apology necessary. I actually thought your post was quite funny.
  4. B70, What you see is not an error. I chose to provide the most commonly used definitions of the words in question and ommitted several alternate definitions for each word. "Effect" is generally used as a noun. However, it is used above as a transitive verb, meaning: to bring into existence. This use of "effect" is less common than that of its use as a noun. I chose to simplify things, assuming C18 wanted the most common definitions. I apologize for rambling here. I imagine you meant to explain all of that yourself instead of just saying you thought there was an error.
  5. C18, The "War In Siberia" option assumes that the USSR is currently fighting a war in Siberia with Japan and will eliminate the historical transfer of Siberian divisions to the defence of Moscow. Affect is a transitive verb that means: to have an influence on or effect a change in. "Inflation affects the buying power of the dollar." Effect is a noun that means: something brought about by a cause or agent; a result. The power to produce an outcome or achieve a result; influence. "The drug had an immediate effect on the pain." If you'd like to use all of the ideas together, try this one: "Stalin learned that Japan was not going to attack in the east. This news affected his decision to transfer the Siberian Army to the west. The transfer was quite timely, producing the desired effect of bolstering the defenses around Moscow."
  6. Straha, If this was true, then I would be all over the AAR. I have been doing little bits of it when I get chances, but Hubert and I are digging up (and squashing) bugs. Once we're through that, the world will be mine...

  8. Len, The server gets a little touchy on weekends, with all the traffic. I just checked and the only link that is working is the one for "A Wake Up Call." The problem should be resolved in a couple hours. If it isn't, feel free to send me an email ( tedquincey@yahoo.com ).
  9. TH-Forums CMBO has some great new reading material for Newbies and Grogs alike. Stop by CMHQ for the details.
  10. The latest scenario is from veteran designer Kinch. It is a small, single-player affair and loads of fun. Take it for a spin today.
  11. Aaron, Do you mean to tell me you do not have Men in Kilts bookmarked?!

  13. Hey, that's a picture of Hubert from a recent party, celebrating with all the pre-order money. Sleep? What's that?

  15. JP, Just reading the title of this thread, I would say it is best to stay away from knee reconstruction operations if at all possible. [ July 27, 2002, 04:58 AM: Message edited by: SuperTed ]
  16. Sorry to step on you here, A3, but all technical issues should be directed to Hubert. Despite doing a great job in the CM technical community, I believe Ian has never set foot in here. Dave, Hubert and I found a bug yesterday that may be what you're seeing. The bug we found has been fixed, but only Hubert can verify whether or not that will help your specific case.
  17. Ryan, I noticied you're in Wisconsin? I'm in Madison...
  18. AOM, The difficulty setting affects how many MPPs are collected via plundering. Also, it has an effect on Free French chances, Siberian Army transfer chances, and a few other goodies. The experience setting is straightforward. It adds 1 or 2 experience points to each enemy unit.
  19. As some have mentioned, rockets are very effective once the research gets up to levels 4 and 5. Every advance in research increases the range and all attack numbers by one. If you do the math, you can see how nasty these little buggers can be. Oh yeah, as RD stated, there is no defense against rockets.
  20. OK, so that was sound effects from Superted getting spanked by one of the beta testers? Were you playing axis or allies? </font>
