  1. SPY_EYE so what youa re trying to tell me is that in the 'ARCHITECTURE BUSINESS', You can piss off your customers and still make a profit ( never mind stay in business)? IF JOE_Gamer decides to buy a house and he comes to your SPY_EYE ARCHITECTURAL CO. HE gives you the specs for his new home and what he wants. He has money and other friends that are in the market to have a house designed and built- are you telling me that you don't build it to what was asked of you? DO you think Joe-Gamer is gonna take that lying down? Do you think he is gonna tell all his friends what a wonderful company you have .....Be happy... SPYE_EYE put alot of hours in it - he didnt give me what i asked for but- but he showed up for work an punched the clock, .......for that Joe-Gamer will be eternally grateful to the SPYE_EYE ARCHITECTURAL CO for not doing what Joe-Gamer had originally asked. This analogy can also be applied to a larger scale - a developer finds out whats currently 'in demand' in new homes; he wants some designs for a group of houses - you do it your way -- GET THE PICTURE.....? NOT GOOD BUSINESS SS_PanzerLeader.......out
  2. SPY_EYE QUOTE: Tell me the game you are playing now. The game I am currently playing that I would deem as accurate as I’ve seen would in fact be this one but maybe you are so blinded by the wonders of cc4 that you failed to notice lol. I also enjoy many other types of games I love role-playing games, first person shooters, and other stuff. Basically I enjoy a game that is well made and not thrown together just to make a buck which is something you obviously condone BTW which company do you work for you are obviously VERY defensive of their practices. There I answered your question but I see you ducked mine by asking this one- obviously you were short on an answer! QUOTE: Just reading you makes me want to listen from someone else PLEASE FEEL FREE! You opened the thread and now the heats turned up you are ready to duck for cover! Whets the matter afraid of hearing a voice other than your own? Maybe you shouldn’t have started this! QUOTE: Ok, tell them to sell 10 000 copies at 30$ profit on each. Lets counts that. 10 000 x 30$= 300 000$ WOW they sure can have 50 employee at 50 000 $ a year....OH wait a minute they lose money!!! Let say 10 employes. at 30 000, They get even. But they dont make 30$ a box, they make 10$ So they have to sell at least 50 000 copies. So to listen to everyone, or take and compile data, they need people. Why not you give them 1 year of free time. I sure wont object. Help them bring us the best "accurate" ww2 game. And also you will take charge of all the complains and ideas given to you? i sure hope you do. But i am realist about gaming industry. What on earth are you babbling about? IF a company continues to make its customers unhappy sales will fall - what business class have you taken - this is a very competitive world. What you claim is a realistic conception of the gaming industry is more of a complacent acceptance. If you support inferior products I take it you have a Yugo in the driveway or maybe a ford pinto. QUOTE: If BM breaks the 20 000 copies, but if they not? How many hours of work was put on the game? how many people worked on it? Version 2 will due in 2000 or 2001? Do they espect to sell all in the first month? How much pub to buy or to give some to reviewers? so SSpanzerLeader you should be of great help to us if you help all of them... thanx, thats not an order private. dismiss!! I believe they worked on it 2 1/2s form what I read in earlier posts. They also are breaking form the tradition of the gaming industry which you claim to know so much about, My money is on them I think their efforts will pay off - because chronic complainers (as you classify all of us) are putting forth allot of energy promoting the game and it isn’t costing them a dime! IS that enough free time?? As for the latter part of your question, remark or whatever it was it, made no sense, as did a large portion of your commentary. I’ve also noticed that you’ve hedged serious comments posed by gamers - your response is simply: 1. ACCEPT all with open arms praise the industry 2. Buy all with open arms praise the industry 3. Don’t worry when it don’t work be happy they went to work -be happy to support them in their lifestyles...be happy lol You still didn’t tell me what you are smoking? Crack? QUOTE: That’s my point; the line is draw by someone. Not by you since you are still in college. But who decide the one who draw lines? The ones who make the games. the one who worked hard to make it happend, good or not. They made mistakes in the eyes of some, but not to all. Ask BM designers how mant hours are pass making it possible for us to play it, and i hope we wont complain like you What point ? what line ? obviously since this is in your mind, we must be dealing with points referenced by complex numbers lol. They spent many hours to bring us a game - so because they hurried up an churned out a piece of garbage, to get our money that is ok>?? GOD where on earth do u live? I got all kinds a stuff in my junk room I could sell there at a good price. QUOTE: Yes sir, ill follow you down the russians lines to fight back and kill all other opinions, since you are the only one right here, sir.....do i have to say the heil too? Wich war crimes did you commited? The only one here trying to tell people how to think is you but obviously you wernt astute enough to notice. And what on earth are you on about ....... oh my mistake my warcrime was contradicting your rules of thought and opinion along with those imaginary lines that contain them. SS_PanzerLeader......out OH BTW GET A SPELLCHECKER!
  3. No offence intended, but if we are talking about the average Joe-gamer we are assuming he is happy until these mistakes are pointed out to him. We are also assuming that he cant think for himself or make decisions for himself in regards to game play, If Joe-Gamer truely enjoy a game it makes no difference what anyone else thinks. If Joegamer is searching the web looking for information by other gamers on the game then there must be a reason for that or he'd still be blissfully playing. For Joe-Gamer to have that ignorance is bliss Idealism, is to adopt what Atomic and compaines like them are connstantly appropriating the gaming populace to be. This allows them to continue to make more crap and still take Joe-gamers money, who gets to find out the hard way. SS_PanzerLeader....out
  4. IT would be awesome if they did because it would give us ammutnition to sway those CC players tht are still sitting ont eh fence undecided. SS_PanzerLeader.....out
  5. MAybe BTs could give thought to a realtime version of it whilst still holding on to this style- it would cover a broader market- also it would be nice to have as realistic of a realtime game as possible. In that sense there is definitely a huge void in the market all realtime strategies do not nee to be 'clickfests' SS_PanzerLeader......out
  6. SPY_EYE I'd really love to know what version of the Close Combat series you are playing, to have no trouble with tank driving, do u mean to tell me that all the people that have complained about tanks doing 360's are all just chronic complainers with poor driving skills? My god what are you smoking?? QUOTE: And for those who complain about tanks, you should have a driving course. I don’t have problem crossing bridges, and my tanks rarely turn their back to show their 6 to other tank "mooning". I hear it a lot, and see it a lot on my enemies. Atomic should give driving and command lessons to some!!! With the way the tank AI performs they should give lessons in figuring it out because it’s beyond the realm of normal comprehension! To think that all these people that have posted here the majority of them praised earlier versions of the close Combat series But now because we hold an opinion we have blasphemed before the GOD of Games GIVE me a break! QUOTE: Democracy is a compromise on all views. But a line must be drawn. When is this line drawn? Who made the line? When we do not agree with you, we've crossed your magical mental figmentation of a line? Or maybe its governmental censorship that you are accustomed to, brainwashing seems to be evident in your rhetoric. ALL sheep please say 'BAAAA BAAA' QUOTE: I wont stop playing CC. But please don’t buy cc4 if you are buying to complain after. I don’t recall asking you not to play cc4 _personally I couldn’t care less what you play with And why is that you think you have some divine right to tell us what we can and cannot do?? Sorry did I miss your coronation?? All over the internet people post their opinions on games - you sound as if you’ve been personally assaulted because allot of us agree on the draw backs of the later cc series- you sound like you are dating someone on the atomic team or are hoping for employment! QUOTE: If I find flaws, I wont be the one complaining or going to call the homes of the designers, like some cc3 players did!! I will sure help them by buying the game. If they ask my opinion I will give it. They simply can’t listen to everyone views. Atomic made choice base on the fact that if the game was the specific views of certain people, Close Combat should not exist today. They went for the selling for the regular people, not for the historians of ww2 freaks. 5000 copies don’t pay bills. the one making cc3 mod know it well, if 500 people have their mods, that’s a big "best seller" even thought its free So what you re saying are basically is that anyone recognizing the fact that a game is historically inaccurate is a Freak? Despite the fact the game is advertised as such? You are saying we should not offer to voice our complaints we should blindly accept what is delivered upon us and smile as we bend? Do you go out an support every game when you find flaws with it- some of us just cant afford to do that and would have more brains than to do so If we did!! In regards to the mods – obviously that is 500 unhappy people if they are using mods!!!!! Quote: So let the dogs of war go free, and stop making comparison of games here. More orders! Quote Panzerleader should be the one who make games and listen to all the sugjestions. Let say that sometimes costumers are like old complaning wifes, nothing is perfect in their eyes. for once you have to stop listening to it and make the job. That is SS_PanzerLeader And in response to your question I am currently in college to do just that, as I am a CIS major! When I get finished I want to be associated with people in the business that actually cares about their customers as BTS does. Companies like Atomic treat their customers like a mindless mass audience, Unfortunately people like those at BTS are few and far between. I’m sure its comforting for the guys at ATOMIC to know that they have people out their like you to pay their checks no matter what crap they turn out! MY advice to you since you are so readily issuing it is IF YOU DONT WANT TO HEAR THE ANSWER DONT ASK THE QUESTION! SS_PanzerLeader.........out
  7. ok SPY_EYE , Here why I feel it necessary to post my opinion on the current status of the CLose cOmbat series. 1st an foremost I live in free country 2nd. I was a huge support of CC2 even though it had numerous faults. I was an avid cases ladder competitor an played several games a day, up until an online meeting with atomic 3rd. THe meeting with atomic proved very very informative on the type of people we were dealing with, Beta testers CC2 vets and genral supporters alike offered hardline questions to atomic. These questions were on the realism, historical accuracy, and problems with the game. I myself posed a question to Atomic, letting them know that myself and many other avid fans, were not pleased with their efforts. I also praised them on C2 . They simply responded by basically saying they didnt care what we thought and had no intentions of doing anything about it. 4th. any company with an attitude like that deserves what it gets IMHO 5th. BTS jsut hit the nail onthe head when it replied to the question of why people are trashing cc4 and cc3; THey are representing this as a historical realistic wargame - IT IS NOT! 8. THanks for posting that I enjoyed reading the info. Very informative and helps to keep in mind, the things we dont always consider during the heat of battle. SS_PanzerLeader.......out
  9. ok thx for responding Fionn -- GOd are you always online SS_PanzerLeader............out
  10. Hi I did a search for smoke bugs and came up with two but they were unrelated to what Ive encountered I was playing Chance encounter and Smoke was dispersed by the krauts, Well I thought in otehr games the AI smoke seemed to last much longer than mine: Well this took the cake the smoke appeared about round 8 and was still there at the end of the game. ANy one else seen this permasmoke>? SS_PanzerLeader.........out
  11. Hi again I jsut tried replacing every american MG sound with the new 50 cal file - it will notpalyany suggestions? BTS? STEVE? IS this something the actual module coding that is preventing it from taking this file? HELp thx SS_PanzerLeader................out
  12. HI Fionn thats for responding. I think what you are suggesting is what I've tried. For Example I have tried two different wave files one for a 50 cal and one for a MG42; I have literally replaced nearly everywave file trying to make sure that I a matching the Sound wanted to a unit. For some reason I can never hear the new wav - it seems to continue to play the old sounds which is why I took them into a wav editing studio to change the new waves to make sure the files matched in size as well as name. I do have two installs of the game but in seperate directories as I didnt want to tamper with one I was using, I very much doubt it but could this have any bearing on it? Help SS_PanzerLeader.........out
  13. Im not interested in doing any editing to any unit data but I am interested in swapping out some of the sound waves for others I have. I have a SOund Blaster Live sound card but I am not getting enuff variations in weapons, sounds etc and the voices are muffled somewhat. I have attempted direct swapping and also I have gone into a wave studio to duplicate file length exactly, yet I cannot get the sounds to play is there someone that can help me? SS_PanzerLeader............out
  14. I agree with you whole heartedly BDW, I actaully tried to play cc4; lol besides the fact is sucked - the view felt terrible, a big something was definitely missing and I felt like I had blinders on:-P THERES NO TURNING BACK!!!! lol SS_PanzerLeader...........out
  15. WELL DoNE on the graphics guys- I think some of you guys are missing the key point here. BTS has said (correct me if im wrong), they will be working continuously to upgrade the quality of the graphics. This is an example of what they have done so far, which IMHO is a nice improvement over before. Credit should be given where credit is due. How many other companies have you said "we dont like this plz fix it" to and even gotten a response? everything I saw was a notable improvement thanks BTS SS_PanzerLeader...........out
  16. I had a little trouble also geting used to the controls - so far ive found i use the angled views extendively - i use the buttons for quick movements and i can fine tune with the directional keys on the kbd- If I missing somethign vets help me out. Keep at it bud when u get hte controls down the gmae is nothing less than awseome SS_panzerLeader............out
  17. I saw the riposte on the pbem-vs icq so at this point I'll add my two cents - I've attempted 3 email games completing none of them so far, and my first attempt at Icq was successful, I must admit that I had file problems playing via email, some of which were my own due to it being a first attempt, some had to do with email clients. It seems to be to be so much more of a pain to have to keep up with email, than to play via icq. With the regards to the lengthy turns,I myself have been chastized in the CC2 arena for being the result of long realtime games, when prudence was indeed the better part of valor. IMHO I can see no reason that if you want to play lengthy turns why this cannot be accomplished by IcQ if its discussed before hand - personally at the demo level in the game, I can see no reason for 30 min + moves - but maybe that COMMAND AND conquer version of CC2 has developed my ability in the dextrous area :-P As pointed out above You can play multiple opponents in ICQ - so Play an email game or something at the same time, then you have something to do in downtime. Personally Im glad tcp/ip is coming out and I am very hopeful where will be a turn clock as I dont want to sit for 30 minutes for every gameplayed in TCP/IP no more than I am interested in playing chess via snail mail, Games of such length to me personally represent campaign endeavours as far as time investment goes and Im sure I dont stand alone in this. Maybe when competitive play begins for tournaments and ladders, it will be possible to divide game competitions by turn time, in order to accomadate all styles. When the full game comes out, and the detail depth does entail quite abit more actions per turn, my view may change somewhat. Yet I personally wouldnt find it to realistic to be able to take 30 minutes to plan out every minute of combat in a compteitive game. Not trying to offend anyone here I love to strategize, feel free to blast me SS_PanzerLeader.......out.
  18. Oh thats it you two jsut see how green with envy you can make us :-P SS_PanzerLeader.............out
  19. It really is nice to see such a refreshing attitude in this industry and just in general maybe it'll set an example for others to follow( thats is they get done inspecting their sphincter muscle an take a look) SS_PanzerLeader....out
  20. THat new scenarios is a goody - was late and I played haphazardly; therefore as Germs I got spanked, althought my stand at one of the last flags was reminicinent of the Hurtgeon Forest :-P Well to business I have some questions regarding some game elements that I searched for but was unsuccessful. 1. Will there be Large scale works, like factories and city buidlings, as well as specialty features like the fortress at Metz ( i think that was it) where the brits brought in a couple crocs to try an get in 2. will there be things such as opel blitz trucks, willys jeeps, kubel wagons ie little stuff 3. Is it possible at a later time to add a little gore :-P you know when the unit takes a hit from a shell, have the squad blown in all directions and bodies left till maybe the end of the turn? Im sadistic lol but hey its war 4. any chance of seeing gun emplacements, nebelwerfers, lol maybe a big railway gun? thanks SS_PanzerLeader......out
  21. Just want to thank you again for the new scenario Steve and BTS, that was very kind of you. This kind of gesture shows that you guys are a cut above the rest and have gained a dedicated supporter in me - time to preorder SS_PanzerLeader .............out
  22. IF theya re looking for hot females in a virtual conference room, dedicated to a WW2 strategic wargame - then they really are pathetic lol- (not that absolutely no females would be interested just that this sure isnt gonna be a hotspot for hotties :-P ) SS_PanzerLeader.......out
  23. IS such a shame that all this negative feeback falls on deaf ears with the guys at atomic - most companies with any sense listen to their customers - but then maybe they got a money tree in their backyard :0p SS_PanzerLeader............out
