  1. If it hasn't happened by then, CM5 could be a release where all the improvements of later editions are incorporated into the earlier ones and make it a huge mega-release or something. Just a thought. Jason
  2. Dead bodies. The topic that keeps on giving and giving. This topic has been discussed to death. (pun intended) If you do on search on this topic you will likely find well over 100 posts about this. There are a bunch of arguments pro and con.   3. My first attempt at Riesberg as the Germans I had routed the incoming AI Americans. Almost all of my units were at low ammo status. I aassaulted with my squads to root out the last remaing American units. My units advanced to within 10m of the Americans. It was knid of eerie to watch the tuen replay because all I had left were grenades. This little black object would arc from my squad and explde near the Americans and explode five seconds later. The point of this post is that even a unit low on ammo still has something left for close range combat. Jason
  4. At first, I wanted something like what Vince is looking for. Then I realized it would be too much like using a crutch. After a few times playing the beta demo I changed my mind and agree with Steve. After a couple of attempts I finally managed to pull off a well coordinated asault against the computer. If I had been able to coordinate everything down to the second it wouldn't have been as satisfying. In fact, I think that knowing the orders delay time of a squad down to the second is too much information. Jason
  5. I don't mind watching the movies multiple times at all. A couple times to get the gist of the turn and, if the turn is particularly interesting, a bunc more times for pure entertainment value. The interface conveys an astonshing amount of information in such an efficient manner that, with some practice, watching the movie more than a couple of times shouldn't be necessary. Jason
  6. I stopped firing at the church with my tanks the turn I assaulted it with my American infantry because I was afraid I would bring the church down on my own troops. Imust have pumped over 30 rounds into the church and it couldn't have been in very good shape. I sure would have felt like an idiot if I had brought the church down on my own troops. Jason
  7. I think that what was decided was that all crews, regardless of actual armament, would only be given pistols as well as some kind of self-defense bonus. A searh would find a couple of threads dealing with this as well as Steve's answer. Jason

  9. After several recommendations on this board for 'Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two' by Chamberlain and Doyle I went out and ordered it. Barnes & Noble processed my order quickly and it arrived at my local B&N in a couple of days. The book is paperback and only $20. Has production dates as well as production totals by year. Not only useful for figuring out when a vehicle was available but also how common a vehicle was. Very good book. Or you can do what Mattias and Moon suggested, which are certainly the easier options.   10. I believe this tactic is called 'mouseholeing'. And, no, it is not in this version of CM. Maybe a later version. Some of the things Steve said would be hard to put in turned out to be relatively easy and some of the easier things turned out to be hard. Steve has said that they want ot do more building types for later versions. Maybe they will also look at making buildings more complex as well. Jason

  13. I hope someone with far more knowledge than I would do a couple scenarios of either Varsity or the 6th Airborne on D-Day. No doubt we will have Market-Garden scenarios coming out of our ears and some variety would be good. Jason

  15. For me as a new player it is sometimes hard to differentiate between a gamey tactic and a stupid tactic. I think a gamey tactic would be abusing deficiencies in the TacAI. With repeated play, I suspect many of us will be able to pick these out. Jason

  17. Iadmit to using a useless unit to scout ot the enemy. I knew that there was a platoon of Germans hiding in some woods. I saw them enter but not exit. All I had to look at were Iron Crosses. I sent a bazooka team into the forest and spotted the Germans. I wiped out the German platoon with two of mine for minimal losses. I assume this was a gamey tactic. But a bazooka can't have a very high point cost. I would rather have sent two men in then a half-squad of six men. My question is: how else could I have done this in a realistic fashion?   20. It was kind of a trick question. The air operation that had the most men and planes in the sky at one time was not Market-Garden (as I found out on Discovery Channel just a few hours ago). It was the operation to secure the Rhine by the 17th and 6th Aireborne divisions. And I feel stupid to admit that I have now forgotten what the operation was called. Victory or something like that. It began with a 'V' Jason

The Puppchen was manufactured by Westfallische-Anhaltische Sprengstoff AG at Reinsdorf. The few that were produced before production was abandoned and switched to the Schreck were sent to Tunisia and Italy. Some actually ended up as beach defense weapons in the Atlantic Wall. Panzerschreck production was so important that by 1944 it was being produced at seven factories and sub-assemblies at many other minor factories. Cost was an astonishingly low RM70 and 289,151 of the first two models were produced in 1943 and 1944. 25,744 of the final model (the 54/1) were built and over 2,000,000 rockets had been manufactured. Other bits of Schreck trivia. There was ammunition for winter and summer. The front sights had marks for +20C and -25C. The rear sight had an aiming off plate. The Panzerschreck had a safety. Jason
  24. The Puppchen was, in fact, the precursor to Schreck. The Puppchen was rolling off the assembly line at about the same time that Germany encountered the Bazooka in Tunisia. The Germans realized that the Bazooka was much simpler than the Puppchen and designed their own accordingly. They used the same 88mm rocket of the Puppchen midified to fire electrically. The only information I have on the PAW 600 is that the Germans mounted cut-down French 75mm guns on the PAW 600 anti-tank gun carriage. Jason
  25. I'm playing a Chance Encounter PBEM game as the Americans. I haven't looked at the German setup nor have I played through solo as the Americans. I must say that it is proving to be more exciting than my other games simply because of lack of knowledge. With the possibility of so many scenarios, I don't think foreknowledge should be a problem. Finding a fresh scenario that neithe player has played yet should be no problem. Jason
