  1. Jeff,

Actualy your last post made it clear what you were asking for. As for my reply.

I really doesn't think it matters in CM's scope. For a squad's personal weapons the "effective" range is a lot shorter than any drop you need to be worried about. (and those firepower ranges are given). For Big weapons, IF guns,AP rounds,heat,ect.. the drop rates really won't come into effect due to map size either. Unless your firing from one end of a map to the other, and even then the map would have to be very large for it to have much effect. Your crews being able to hit something at 2000+ meters is more of a factor than the drop that would occur.

For your sholder fired AT weapons I see your point. But this really doesn't take more than a game or two of using them to figure out.

I guess I see your point, I'm just don't think its nessasary.

  2. As for the logo.. I don't mind (but then I don't play in 600x800 so I don't see it.)

As for accuracy.. I have no idea what you want. A weapons effective range is its effective range. If your guys can hit what they are shooting at is a whole new ballgame. Unless your looking for something totally useless like "this weapon has a noticable drop of 6.8 inches at 1000 meters so train your men to fire accordingly" or "at 500 meters you have a 99.9% chance of hitting an airplane hanger, For targets smaller than this adjust accordingly."

As for backblast.. Yes they are bad in an enclosed area. They can set the building on fire,ect.. This also can happen outside in dry conditions.

    Sorry for the ramble

  3. I'm not an expert.... But I don't believe there is anyway CM will work with NT. NT does not and will not (according to MS) have directx support. Since they consider NT a business platform. This is why you see almost no games that will run on the NT platform. There are most likely some OS gurus out here that can explain it better. But that is my take on things. I use NT at work also, and I believe we are just SOL.

  4. You use your HQ unit to set up the ambush site. Then have a hiden unit target the ambush marker. Your units then fire only when the ememy approches the marker. Troop quality plays a factor in how soon your troops open fire. The better troops will wait longer before springing the trap. Untargeted ambush markers go away after the turn. Also, remember that AT weapons can set thier own ambush points.

Thats the quick and dirty. Need more clarification.. just ask.

  5. I think you were just unlucky. The shot did hurt the tank.( there is a hole in it now). It just didn't hit anything that mattered inside of the tank. Play long enough and your see side armor, front armor, upper hull penitrations with no damage also. Just the luck of the draw. Same as you can riddle a car with bullets, and they car still run and drive.

    Don't ask... I'm rambling

  6. Kevin,

You shouldn't feel that way. Our at least I don't. Cliques are formed on forums, same as I assume PBEM cliques are formed. This has more to do with the length of time people have been here and the comfortable factor. People just have to get used to seeing you around. Let's face it. I'll speak my mind or share my ideas at the drop of the hat, and I'm an idiot. So there isn''t any reason for anyone else not to.

As for this dissapearing act... I have came across it in other games. But I've never had that problem here. In fact all my PBEM opponents have been great and some good friendships have came from them. As for surrendering. I think most players know when the time is right. As long as there is a chance, stick it out. If all hope is lost, then go for it. The biggest thing is communication.

still an idiot in search of a village...

  7. I think a great ship game would be great too. But you have to take into account ranges. WWI would be at the extream. Civil war would be fun, but not sure how many scenarios you could build out of it. My choice would broadside sailing ships. Thier ranges were limited, and you could treat the ships as vehicles and maybe dis-embark your fighters off one ship onto the other for some close combat. Just an idea.

  8. In operations resupply is in. How much you get depends on what the operation designer decides. Same as with digging in. The ability to fortify positions or dig in is an option in the design of a scenario. Of course Digging in is still only allowed during the set-up, not during a battle. As digging a decent foxhole takes a while. Better to locate reverse slopes and shell holes for cover once the battle starts.

One tactic that I thought was a great idea (I never thought of it) was this: When playing Fionn in VoT, My men finally made it into town (I was allies) and what did I see? It appears that he had his units dig foxholes between the buildings. So when moving from building to building or if the building was being overrun or shelled. He had the foxholes dug and waiting. If I'm wrong he can correct me. But I thought that was a damn good tactic.

  9. umm... guess you got me there Capt.

Easy enough to fix though. If you really want a wire cutter, then just open a .bmp in something like paintshop and add a little green line to the jeep. It was just a piece of v shaped metal. Much like whats on a helicopter today, just not as big.
