  1. He was in the Anti-Tank Company of the 242nd Regiment. He was the Captains Jeep driver.
  2. Buckeye, I have a grandfather who was also in the Rainbow Division in WW2. I have done a map of a battle in Hatten,France about Jan 9 1945. Although my lazy butt has been too busy playing other scenarios to finish play testing and tweaking the scenario. So, my post doesn't really help much but I'm interested in the Rainbow Division connection. Otto
  3. Hope Matt doesn't mind me posting this, but I just finished my first battle of "Recon by Force", it was really fun!!! Here was his post: "I have created a very unique scenario that involves a good deal of recon and some real decision making by the player. It should be a challenge and like nothing else you've played. And it was designed specifically to be played against the AI (now updated to 1.1b22)." "I am looking for a couple of playtesters. If anyone is interested in testing it for me, all I ask is that you do me the courtesy of writing back to me when you are done and let me know how it went. Send me an email if you are interested." Thanks, Matt Hyra loyalcitizen@home.com All you Recon lovers will get a kick out of his creative ideas. Otto
  4. ED, Very nice!!!! We can never have too many maps. Glad to see you working on a Mac also Otto
  5. Little O/T and I don't know if this link has been mentioned before?? Anyone interested in sharing with CNN here is the link. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2000/memories/ After hours of thought I decided it wouldn't be proper to send in my CM battle stories Oh but the stories this CM board could submit!!!
  6. To those of you who have also tested this scenario what did you think of those Jadgtigers??? I think this scenario should be renamed "Debut of the Wrath of God"
  7. Manx, Great site, I like your layout and design. Especially under on your scenario page I like the photo of each battle map. Good stuff, I have of course bookmarked your site. Otto
  8. pritzl, Great news indeed!!! Feels like a whole new game now that I can look at my kill info....or lack of kill info Thanks for the tip.
  9. IPA, Score!!!!! Got it finally. Amazon's search engine must be taking lessons from my infantry....they both don't react until they are perfectly clear that its a 76mm shell coming at them ....well...er...doesn't apply to Amazon but my troops know what I mean. Otto
  10. IPA, Thanks for the amazon UK site, but you are dealing with a professional knucklehead(me). I went there and the closest I could find was "Atlas of the Second World War : Europe and the Mediterranean" That book has a different isbn and was published in 1995...???? signed, "Its not easy being a moran"
  11. Erin aka SuperTeds Wife, I have silenced my Panzers for a well deserved moment of silence in honor of your presence on this CM Board........... I would name a Panzer in your honor but with my combat skills it would be a short lived memorial. Otto
  12. Must be my age or peer group but I never heard that before..sure liked it though. Is Mel Brooks related to Garth Brooks? or did Garth Brooks change his name and image again?
  13. Sorry bachlors, don't want to make you spew......but good wife talk is following. Priest, Sounds like we have the same wife In addition to what you said my wife also: 1)Ordered CM a week before I was going to buy it. 2)Encourages me to play CM when I'm grumpy. Her pet name for all of us CM guys is the "Tight T-shirt Guys". Guess she is referring to all my wargaming friends who have outgrown their favorite T-shirts but still wear them..... Sorry to give you guys such a nickname. One last thought Priest, if you just happen to post your wifes email, I could accidently send her the link of you complimenting her on this bulletin board....major points for you [This message has been edited by Otto Mekanik (edited 11-06-2000).]
  14. Moon, Count me in, but just confiming what McAuliffe said, I'm getting the same error when I try to download.
  15. Hundminen, Sounds like a great book, I'm sure we have our share of map freaks on this board, myself included. I couldn't find it on Amazon, maybe I will have to actually leave the computer and travel to a book store. Thanks for giving the isbn #. Otto
  16. Jackson, I concur!! I don't even know Turrent but I can imagine : 1) wife driving tank in "combatish" way 2)pot of coffeee=heat of war 3)case of beer=fog of war Dang, I'm still laughing....can't stop the tears
  17. Frenchy, He was in the 42nd Division. 242nd Regiment Anti-tank company The 70th Div. web site sure is organized, I like how they have brought together Regimental histories. Rommell22, You have a great connection with your father on firsthand experiences, great material for a website or a book. I have always been fascinated in hearing the German side of battles and experiences.
  18. Wild Bill, Thanks for passing this message along, I have a great interest in that area. My grandfather was in the Hatten/Rittershoffen battle and won a bronze star for his actions in the Anti-Tank Company. He is still alive today and I recently spent a week traveling with him in a motorhome talking about his war stories.... But anyway, I wanted to mention that I'm making a Hatten/Rittershoffen operation. Would be great to speak with Mr. Brown to see if my scenario is accurate. Also, I'm sure you have great sources, but I have seen much written about Herrlishiem in the books "Final Crisis" by Engler and "Winter Storm" by Pommois. Would love to get some advice from you about scenarios and stuff.... Later, Otto

  21. Snave, I have the same problem, see the thread titled "Complete Grey Screen" and "Problem on imac ". They are both on this tech bulletion. My conclusion.... we will just have to wait for an update, but the talk around this place says its being worked on. Did you get the new Radeon 32mb card with your new G4? [This message has been edited by Otto Mekanik (edited 10-31-2000).]
  22. No slowdowns with my G4 and now thanks to David Aitken the sound is really good with sound sprokets 1.0!! Hope the boss doesn't mind the sound...oh thats right, I work from home David, I agree on Wild Bills statement of "nice website". I also like your professional site, looks like you do some good stuff.
  23. Schrullenhaft, Thanks again and I'm such a knuckle head I didn't think of the shift-W to take off the fog. The best news is when I turn the fog back on and have a gray screen, then I can read the text on the units and kill info....yippeee... Well, I'm off to the foggy Ardennes to be Panzer fodder
