  1. Just saw something odd...finished a game of Stare as Axis (vs.AI) and My casaulty list read: -1. -1? KIA, below it, was blank. Perhaps it was because I rejoined the squads that were halved at start in the setup phase?
  2. This, I think, is the bane of the CM series. It's very hard to see the slight elevations in terrain even from the lower levels. I wish the los and orders lines would stick to the ground...that'd help alot.
  3. I've come real close..but no cigar yet. I just end up using 'em on bailed crews..Maybe that's a bit vindictive, but..the ATR crews seem to enjoy it. [ September 03, 2002, 11:17 PM: Message edited by: mch ]
  4. If it's a Sherman, yeah! One thing to remember: It's always safer inside the tank than outside the tank. Overpressure does a good job of telling tankers when to get out (and helping them along). You can't assume that WWII tankers were experts at damage and threat assessment. WWII tanks were small, noisy metal cubbyholes. Usually the decision to bail was made when a MAJOR operating component was rendered inop, such as the engine or main gun. But-also remember the death clock, that's new in BB...Your teams won't stop firing on the KO shot anymore...Maybe that's it? [ September 03, 2002, 10:24 PM: Message edited by: mch ]
  5. Gotta hand it to the kid, though...Having your first post into the forum locked down seconds later... .This might be the new standard for infamy
  6. You mean it's going to end DRAMATICALLY? I was thinking anti-climactic all the way....
  7. Guess I misunderstood the topic post [ September 03, 2002, 09:24 PM: Message edited by: mch ]
  8. The tank crews don't want to leave their Mk.41 air-conditioners..It's a pretty hot day for a battle. I dunno what to tell you. I've had 'em bail after a few hits, but..they were close in. a 45mm just dosen't have the same effect ohhhh say an 85mm will..
  9. Hey, and look on the bright side! The full's not out yet, so..you still have the "The patch ruined..." category to look forward to
  10. I tried searching, honestly..found nothing conclusive, so: Is CMBB going to cover (or have the ability to cover) any of the pre-barbarossa ops, like Yugoslavia, Finland and Poland? Or..is it just as the title suggests? Thanks! (sorry, but..I've been AWOL for awhile..trying to catch up) [ September 03, 2002, 12:42 AM: Message edited by: mch ]
  11. Or, maybe it's this? growing pains on the part of the player? The combat system has been changed quite a bit, for the better IMHO. It's slower, and more deliberate planning and movement is called for. Trying tactics that worked for me in CMBO caused alot of headaches, but..taking a fresh look at it, and 'starting out from scratch', I adapted to the new system and I now have no troubles working with the russkies at all..In fact, I dig it!
  12. Finally seeing a tank go off after hitting it about 20 times was N-I-C-E! Wasn't expecting to see the chunks go flying.
  13. Yep! the good ol' fire magnet diversionary tactic is NEVER bad!
  14. Just pay alot of attention to the experience and state of the unit-Don't expect conscripts to do a man's job! Just like in CMBO, the less-experienced units need alot of TLC..Plan around the realistic capabilities of the units, and you'll have no problem,heck..you might even get some new ideas..I was experimenting with operation:get behind the conscripts! worked pretty well. Another good use for 'em is a good quick, tank borne reserve. [ September 02, 2002, 05:13 PM: Message edited by: mch ]
  15. I think that what you're hearing is "Davai!" (spelling may be wrong...) I t means, roughly...move! or move out!
  16. Playing Citadelle as the Soviets can produce quite a few tense momens-and even some defeats! It's quite amazing to consider, as..it was pretty much impossible to get an zero advantage game that was any challenge at all from the AI in CMBO so...Progress was definately made! It seems like all these scenarios were made thinking that everyone would be playing the soviet side (heh, the new guys!) more..I've had better vs.AI games playing them than the jerries.
  17. Panzer elite! LOL-does the re-sell version still have the .000 time until shot impact? Gawd that was funny...Every tank was armed with a lazer cannon Steel Beasts is a very, very good armor sim, but...it's modern (which is just fine by me, but you know how it goes) SB's the best tank sim, ever..until Steel Beasts 2. But, that's tank sims...As far as wargames (esp. WWII wargames) go, the CM series is really the best you'll find. [ September 01, 2002, 08:23 PM: Message edited by: mch ]
  18. I'm speechless! I haven't played CMBO in quite a bit, but..looks like I checked back in on the right night I've been playing it for just a few hours, and I already want more! BTS, I think you've outdone yourselves on this installment..it's just nuts how many improvements you've made and how much of a pleasure this game is to play. The visuals are top-notch, the gameplay is rock-solid and..Man! what'd you do to the AI? it's an ass-kicker now!
  19. Howdy! I just got my full version of Tacops. I was wondering a few things, like: - What's the difference between the a2 and a2 SEP in Tacops? Shouldn't the SEP have a better spotting ability, and longer main gun range? - Aww..There's no T-90 to battle my M1a2's. Any chance of a future release? - Any chance of a vehicle creation utility, ala BCT? (a rather handy feature) [ 06-23-2001: Message edited by: mch ]
