  1. Thanks Pathfinder! But....what Jeff said goes for me too! p.
  2. > Why not make them half obstacles like > walls? Short answer - not the same, because walls don't move. Actually, radio-controlled walls would be a nice idea for a new unit. p.
  3. If it gets to Australia before it gets to Montreal, I'm going to puke. Enjoy the game, those of you who got it. p.
  4. Thanks Steve for the nice (but totally unecessary) apology! I'm sure this is just one of the little episodes in our CM saga that we'll look back on with a smile (...the evening of the gold demo release will keep me laughing for a few decades at least). Fingers crossed for tomorrow. p.
  5. Still nothing in Montreal...but the mailman threw me a funny look as he walked past my house. I think he had it in that big bag of his and is just having some fun at my expense. It's nice to hear that it arrived in Toronto though! (Doesn't make sense though).
  6. Just a thought...Things might be a bit slower than usual because of the holidays this time of year. If the games crossed customs by truck in Quebec it might have gotten hit with a big provincial holiday last weekend and Canada Day coming up this weekend might have an impact too. Friday tends to be a great day for getting packages though. I have my hopes up for this week still. p.
  7. Nothing in Montreal. At least the sun's out. <sigh> p.
  8. ARRGGGHHH! Mailman came and went, absolutely nothing. This is ridiculous, it was in Vermont like what? A week and a half ago! Does anyone know what the standard procedure would be - will it be the mailman or the truck? p.
  9. > Can troops not dig in. Only defenders in the original positions that you place them. They will get foxholes. > how do you employ sharpshooters - they > always get spotted It was mentionned a long time ago that the best way to use snipers is to just find them a nice hiding place and don't try to micromanage them too much. They will choose their own targets. You're probably blowing their cover by setting them off too soon. p.
  10. A big name publisher wouldn't be able to bring anything to the game itself which would remotely justify what they would try to take away profitwise. If what BTS is doing now works (...and it looks like it is) it doesn't really make any sense to make things more complicated. Hopefully what we're seeing now is the beginning of a trend. p.
  11. > Nothing in Montreal Yeah, but Iggi, that's because it was the holiday weekend! CM will definitely invade Montreal tomorrow. p.
  12. I'm thinking of doing a scenario where a bunch of veteran fanatic (and angry!) Canadian CM fans have to storm a post office. Oh well. Customs, must be customs. p.
  13. Mailman just came and went in Montreal...nothing. Damn! Too bad he's a nice guy - I felt like really letting him have it. p.
  14. Nothing in Montreal yet. I have a really good feeling about tomorrow though. p.
  15. > Talking about addictive, nothing can come > close to Civilization II which I have been > playing every month for a long time now. Welcome aboard Steve, Nothing against Mr. Meier's masterpiece...but, yes CM comes close and might outdo it depending on what you like in a game. p.
  16. Hey Canuck! Congratulations! Give us a scouting report, OK. Everyone is saying they got it but very few people are talking about it. "InDixie" huh? Doesn't sound like it counts. p.
  17. > I don't know if anyone noticed the > artillery airbursts or not. Are these real > airbursts or are the trees causing it? That's what happens when the arty comes down on units hiding in the woods. Airbursts are modelled and additional casualties/suppression can result due to them. > Something else I noticed. When one of my > machinegun crews was walking along, > someone said "argh" and one of the crew > went missing. Did he stumble and fallout > or was he shot by a sniper? Food poisoning is a possibility but more likely you are being shot at by something you can't see yet. Cool game, huh? p.
  18. Vacations are just too short. I strongly recommend quitting work completely to get the most out of the game.
  19. Hey Ghost, Let us know if the sound tip does the trick cause I'm curious. You've described perfectly a little graphics stutter that I've always had with the 2 demos and other 3-D games. I've always assumed it was a 3D card thing for me but it was never annoying enough to warrant changing cards.
  20. Congrats Ghost, Give us a scouting report as to scenarios and operations OK??? p.
  21. I had a nice little CM scare the other day too. Post truck drove up while I was enjoying a drink on the porch and the mailman jumped down and walked right up to me with a sort of almost could conceivably be CM sized package in his hands. Turned out to be windshield wipers and some touch-up paint for my car. At least it was better than a boring old phone book!
  22. Montreal, definitely Montreal. Heck, we're so close to Maine, I would have saved them the shipping costs and driven down to pick it up myself. I'm betting on middle of next week. p.
  23. I read that the Axis decided not to resort to chemical warfare because of their huge reliance on horses for their mobility. A counterattack could have wiped out their animals and left them stranded. I think this was from Keegan. Valid argument especially in the early years???
