  1. Could be copying RL. Artillery is sometimes denied if it might cause a civilian casualty.
  2. Just a word comparing EoS to Empire Enhanced. I've been playing and modding EDEE since it came out. Also played the original Empire and Empire Deluxe. EoS is not a remake of those games. EDEE was a remake of Empire Deluxe and you can tell. EoS is an entirely new game that bears some resemblance to those other games and that's it. Just wanted to clear that up. EoS is so different and so much better there really is no comparison.
  3. I am trying to print the manual piece by piece. Looking at copy/paste into a word doc and then printing. Problem is some pages, like the map editor, don't show the images on the left when opening the html manual. They show when opening the manual in the game but not the html. In the game I can highlight the page but when right clicking to save no menu comes up. Frustrating. Is there a way to either get the images to show up in the html manual (preferred method) or save the page in the game manual. When I'm finished I can save as a pdf and post it if anyone is interested.
  4. Trying to duplicate last night's crash problem. Started a new game and played a few turns. Exited and loaded save game. No problem. Exited and went to map editor. Fooled around a bit - large map, large continents, made random map. Exited. Opened eos and got an error window. Bad ruleset Checksum (official 1900-2030 Atomicboy 20091106-121217 unit set). Got this last night too but just clicked it shut. Interesting because I used the 1940 ruleset in both games. Loaded save game and this time it started ok. Last night (files sent) it didn't. So there you go. Have fun.
  5. Prior to EoS the latest and best Empire game is Empire Enhanced by KillerBee. I've been playing and modding it since it came out about 4-5 years ago. It's good enough that I've been going back and forth in my mind about EoS the last couple months if I want to spend $45 on it. So yesterday when it came out I went back and forth on the two playing and decided EoS was really enough better. It still needs some features that have been discussed here but this game will go down as one of the all time greats. It's like Empire on steroids plus some.
  6. Yeah. The only problem is there's only 4 terrain types. So I've been pushing for terrain sets and it looks like a future feature.
  7. Just tried to load a save game and got the gray microsoft window of death and the game crashed. This is the release version. Guess I won't be playing over Thanksgiving after all. EDIT: What's interesting is this happened after the game was saved and I fooled around with the terrain editor. That reminded me the last time this happened it was after I fooled around with the terrain editor for a bit. Maybe there's a link? I'll look to see if I still have your email and will send the files if I do.
  8. I just got it and can tell you a few things. First the game seems more solid. Second the time from giving orders to units moving is longer. Third other than advertised features that would come with the release it seems the same as the demo. Fourth Brit seems like a fellow who will keep improving it so I'm not worried that stuff I requested didn't make it in. Time was limited after all. It's very good now but by New Years it'll be great.
  9. I wasn't asking about a printed manual but a printable pdf which is nice. It wouldn't add any additional cost to the game publication and would allow customers to print it out, sit down, and read it. You might be surprised how many gamers like to read manuals. Also, I believe you missed the question on top. Will there be a list of features that come with the release game, especially the differences from the latest beta demo?
  10. Is it the same as the demo? That's kind of skimpy and maybe outdated.
  11. And does it come with a print friendly pdf manual?
  12. I'll be getting win7 soon and from what I've read the best thing to do is disable UAC (whatever that is). I have xp now.
  13. Will there be a list of features that come with the release game, especially the differences from the latest beta demo?
  14. Sounds good. I suggest, if it's not too difficult, make the terrain sets separate from the rule sets. That way an author wouldn't need to add all those terrain attributes into the rule set by hand every time, he could just refer to a terrain set if available. Different rule sets could refer to different terrain sets for different scenarios. It would just make everything easier. Then when someone wants to download a scenario, the appropriate rule set and terrain set could be downloaded as well. Or maybe asked in case the player already has them, or one of them.
  15. We've sort of been discussing this. I'd like to suggest terrain set mods. Players could set up graphics, names and attributes. Then each set could have a title. The terrain set title could be put into the rule set (which iirc you suggested). Also I think it would be a good idea for a rule set to be part of every scenario. That might already be in there but we haven't fooled with that so don't know. In any case, a scenario would automatically include a rule set which would include a terrain set. This would greatly enhance scenario mod making.
  16. Are you saying the file somehow got screwed up and the game doesn't need patching to fix the situation? I'm not worried about continuing this file. I was in the closing stages. The two veteran ai enemies didn't do much and I was way ahead. I'll start another game and hopefully with the new patch the ai will do better.
  17. I'm still getting the error from the save game. Has the error been fixed and maybe I just need to start a new game?
  18. May I suggest the ability to make continents much larger, even 5-6 times the current max? Then, also, it would be necessary to have available much larger maps as we discussed. The reason for the bigger continents is to enable land/air battles on a larger scale.
  19. Ok, they were sent a couple hours ago.
  20. I don't know if this can be done but what I think would work the best is to have terrain rulesets the same way you have unit rulesets. Putting the two together would be limiting.
  21. I can send you a couple. Where to?
  22. So I went to the autosave and it worked fine. Played a dozen turns last night and went to continue this morning. Had the same problem with the autosave.
  23. Brit, I think the current terrains are fine for the typical random map. But when designing scenarios there are simply too many different terrain types around the world for them all to be in 4 sets. Just a map of Europe from France to Russia would require several, including different height hills/mountains, etc.
  24. That would work. But I think a "wait" command should be included. It would put that unit at the end of the queue.
