  1. Oh, and I would add to my question Can you see your whole OOB once the game has started? It would be nice to have the ability to view your entire OOB on one screen and see their various status' and abilities. (Also jump to their location). And, wouldn't it be cool if you could watch a "movie" of your battle when you're done? No pausing every minute, just watching how everything unfolded in "real" time. Is this planned or in SF?
  2. Well, "seeing" with the camera isn't the same as 'seeing' with a unit. Sometimes you'd swear you could see something but you can't. Or, vice versa. Here is an earlier thread that I just tracked down that might explain better: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=75535 Sorry if all of this is old stuff.
  3. Can infantry hide behind a vehicle now? I know in CMAK they couldn't. Also, is there going to be anyway to "view" from a particular part of the map to see what it can see? A kind of "show me what I can see from here" option? This is very useful in setting up a defense, or figuring out an avenue of attack without trying to use the LOS tool to guess. Thanks.
  4. Thanks Kingfish. Yeah, I must have had a question a long time ago and then just haven't had the time I'd like to play the game. My kids are finally getting old enough to enjoy playing this game with me so I can justify the time spent on it to my wife! Jet
  5. yeah, i guess so. My thought is that, at least sometimes, the crew bails out due to non damaging (or minor damage) hits. They just lose their nerve. You'd think that between battles, they would have time to regroup and crawl back into a still functioning machine. Maybe that's too much to ask of the game engine. Probably hard to differentiate between the two. Say, what about abandoned guns? Sometimes the crew hightails it, but the gun is just fine. Is it the same thing? Overnight? Thanks, Jet
  6. Thanks Kingfish! So, it sounds like you have to have a night turn. I guess that means short ops aren't going to return anything even if you save the crew. Thanks for the info. It's much appreciated. Jet
  7. Yeah, I have the field where they were abandoned and the settings seem to indicate decent recovery chances for the Americans. But, there is no night in this scenario so maybe they can't be recovered in the "Rock the Kasbah" Scenario? Thanks for your reply. Anyone else have advice on this topic? Experience on what makes it more likely to be recovered? Thanks, Jet
  8. I read the documentation on this, but it's a little confusing. When a crew abandons a vehicle in an operation, what's the trick to getting the vehicle back for a later battle in the operation? Does the crew need to leave the battle field (the doc seems to indicate this *might* be the case) or does it matter? I know you don't want to let them get shot up, but what happens if one is killed during the battle? In one case, the crew abandoned a Priest in the "Rock the Kasbah" Operation with a simple anti-tank rifle shot through the copula, not even a "real" damage to the gun or the base of the weapon. Seems like it would be pretty simple for the crew, all survived, to craw back into the vehicle before the next battle starts. In any case, what should be expected here and are there any tips to making it more like you'll recover a vehicle or gun that has been abandonded? Thanks, Jet
  9. Doesn't matter to me who posted it first, but I'm really glad John posted it to the forum I tend to look at! I have not seen those series, but I will keep an eye out. Having seen so many in B&W, I look forward to seeing in color. Is this what you're talking about: http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=42760 Surprising that there weren't more color made sooner after the war? 10. Very cool. Thanks. It really makes a difference when you can see what things look like in color. You get so used to seeing things in B&W from WWII, that you forget that it wasn't really in B&W!!!!
  11. The sight point would be a good addition I would think. As for the other, it's not like you have to do the calc all the time, only when requested. On some machines that might take a little time to do, but it's only upon request. Besides, machines are getting faster all the time! Jet
  12. Ok, I can buy that I guess, although, when moving through, say, woods, it would nice to know a little more precisely how far to plot the move such that you have the amount of visibility you want out w/o too much visibility in. That *would* be available to the troops on the ground and it hard to replicate at times in CM. Maybe at least this is an option. It would make game play less time consuming IMHO. Jet
  13. Well, you have a lot better idea of what the terrain looks like when you're there than in CM AND, you sure as heck know what you could see when you were at a point that you just passed (and now are retreating to). It would at least be useful during set up to be able to see what things looked like from in front of you. This would replicate advance scouts who have now pulled back to the start line. The problem with what you describe is that, as been pointed out numerous times on the forums, terrain features (e.g. Trees) aren't exact and sometimes it looks like you can see something through the trees, but you can't (and vice versa!). Even if you don't add the "pick a place" LOS, I still think the "area" LOS would be good. As it is right now, you have to do multiple LOS from a unit to try and determine what he can see and what can see him. It's error prone and time consuming. But hey, that's just my opinion. Jet
  14. Another thing that would be great would be to be able to click on a spot, not a unit, and see what the LOS is from that place. In addition, it would also be nice to be able to click on a place or unit and do an "Area" LOS. In other words, show me every place I can see, by making it dark where I can't see and light where I can. As my sight lines get weaker, have it get darker and darker until I can't see any longer. This would make planning sooo much easier.
  15. Printable would be nice, at least you could see your entire force at one glance, BUT, you wouldn't be able to get their status. Right now you have to click around, or look for messages to see if your unit is having morale or ammo issues. If you have an interactive OOB, you can see, with color coding, the status of your units with one glance and know which ones may have, for example, come under fire and you didn't realize it, or have been expending ammo at a greater rate than you thought. In large battles (and it sounds as if they may be getting bigger) it can take a long time to check out your units adequately. Jet
  16. Well, that explains why my son was able to hit my Pz III's so easily when I *thought* he could only see a small part of the tank! Something good to know for sure.
  17. Wait, let me make sure I understand. If I have an infantry unit standing with a tank between them and an enemy MG, there is no benefit to my infantry? What about tanks? I have used dead (but not burning) tanks to "shield" my still alive tanks. Is there no benefit to that either? Thanks, Jet
  18. Don't know if many (any?) of you played HPS' old games Tigers on the Prowl and Panthers in the Shadows, but it has the ability to view your entire OOB on one screen and see their various status' and abilities. (Also jump to their location). I don't know if this is planned for CMx2, but I find myself missing it. Anyone else see the need for something like that? Jet
  19. Hi Guys, I don't think this is possible currently, but wouldn't it be cool if you could watch a "movie" of your battle when you're done? No pausing every minute, just watching how everything unfolded in "real" time. Jet
  20. I must have inexperienced pilots. Is there any way (even after the battle) to find out? Also, any comments on the effect of a/c on morale? Thanks, Jet
  21. Do planes have any morale effect in CM? I would think that they *should*. Even if they weren't very accurate, there's no doubting that worried the heck out of the potential targets. Jet
  22. I guess I expected more than two passes (one of which he didn't strafe or bomb at all) from two a/c and > 500 points expended! So far, very disappointing. Although watching the bombs take out a building was *very* cool. Jet
  23. I recently started a QB with a couple of Stukas just for fun. Well, I thought it would be fun, but they have only appeared once a piece, on turns 2 and 3 (we're now in 18 of 40) and have yet to return. Is this the norm for airplanes???? Is there anyway to view the status of these a/c? Thanks, jet
  24. Glad to hear it's a "toughie". I get good shots in on the Shermans and Lee's, but EVERYTHING richochets! Arg! My 12 year old is beating me right now! Oh the shame! Seems you have to get within 200 meters or so AND have a side shot to knock them out. The smoke screen is helping me get close, but I'm not convinced that I'll be able to kill them before they kill me once I get close! Right now I have 3 Pz III's in front of the 2 story building behind the ridge, barely peeking out from behind just so I can see him in the Orchard and another three coming down the wadi on the German's right behind a smoke screen. Most of his tanks are on my left, but he's starting to move them now. I left 2 tanks there to hopefully get flank shots while they're moving. They now have to pop back up from behind the ridge. Hopefully it's not too far for the pea shooters (50mm) to get penetration! Jet
