  1. Hi Guys, I apologize if this has been covered, I did try some searches, but didn't come up with the answers to a couple of questions. 1. I the old CM, when you tried to target something it would give you an idea if you could hit it and if you did hit it whether you had any chance to kill. I guess this was removed in the new game? If so, that will make it tough for the sometimes player like me to have an idea whether it makes any sense to take a shot or which shot of a couple I might have. 2. There used to be a "cycle through targets" key. I guess this is removed also? Bummer. I'm afraid I'm not going to like the answers, but if you know the answers it would be appreciated. Thanks, Jet
  2. Thanks for the feedback guys. I updated the video driver and it comes up! Yay! Haven't tried playing yet as I need to go BBQ some burgers, but at least I got to the menus! Thanks for your help. Say one question, will the game play on multiple monitors? Jet
  3. I see. Thanks for the reply. So, yes, I have an ATI Radeon HD 5800 card. Does that mean I can't play CMBN? That would make me very sad.
  4. Got it working on my second computer under XP. Anyone know if W7 64 bit is supported?
  5. I have a problem too. Windows 7, 64 bit. Installed as Admin, running in XP, xp3 mode as admin or in Windows 7 compatibility or no compatibility selected. The splash screen starts up and then it says "has stopped working". Bummer. Have you guys tested with W7 pro 64 bit?
  6. Just need wireless! Course, that means we'd have to use mostly laptops I guess, but..... We can do it, it'll just take some creativity!
  7. Phil, Would love to do it again, especially if we can get an IP connection rolling. Hot seat just takes a little too long. Jet
  8. I'll have more to say later, but a few comments off the top of my head. As all the screen shots show, the graphics are great, the movement the troops and the vehicles is very impressive. The terrain is excellent. I was watching a battle, and I realized that there was a telephone pole in the view. It was so realistic, that it took me a second to think: "Wow, you don't see that kind of detail in games." Very cool. Phil was an awesome host getting us a room at the Marriott so we could preview. Thanks Phil! It would be fun to set up a quarterly thing where we could set up several tcp/ip games going at once and battle it out! Maybe once the game comes out we can do that and give feedback to BFC? The new interface will take some getting used to. I'm still trying to figure out why move is N and Fast is B and why when I pressed M the tank went into reverse. I sure liked having M for move and F for Fast in CMX1 certainly more intuitive. But, the game was fun and it will certainly be on my birthday list (which is in August, so you guys have to release before then or I'll have to wait for Christmas!) Very cool watching the 14 inch naval fire taking out buildings and a truck getting destroyed by a Sherman. Enough for now, more later. Jet
  9. Phil, My sons and I will be leaving Pleasanton around 3:15 see ya soon. Jet
  10. So Phil, should we bring a small cooler (six pack sized) with a few beverages and maybe some chips stuffed in our pockets? Or does it need to be more subtle than that?
  11. Ok, thanks. BART will cost the three of us $24 total so I may as well drive. Sorry, no, it won't be a tank. Although, I guess I could bring a Suburban. That's sort of a Soccer Mom Tank.
  12. Phil, do you know the best place to park. Not sure if I'm going to drive or take BART. There are three of us so BART starts to add up.
  13. I'm 90% sure of in for three. If something changes I'll let you know. I've never been to one of these, what should we expect? jet
  14. Awesome, I'll be bringing my sons (15 and 18 years old) along. They like to play too. Plus the 18 year old can be my DD! (And I'm not talking duplex drive) Jet
  15. Thanks KR. I knew it was pretty close, but I thought that the tank had come close enough. They might have been too scared (not that I blame them!) Jet
  16. Say, just curious, I was playing a battle with Engineers against tanks (among other weapons) how far away to the engineers have to be from a tank to use their demo packs? This is in CMAK. thanks, Jet
  17. So, I take it, no Omaha Beach then. yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I do understand the logic.
  18. Speaking of Market-Garden, do we get to see paratroops and gliders actually floating to the ground in this version?
  19. I'll make it if at all possible. Need to know the date before I can totally commit. Oh, President's weekend would be bad for me.
  20. Sounds like a good way to approximate sight, but it sure is nice in TOP to be able to actually know from a spot what your LOS is with one quick look.
  21. Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback. Well, I did ask for them a loooong time ago. And, as you can tell, I'm not on the forums all that much. I guess the impression I got was that there wasn't going to be another WWII game after SF. So, I just kind of gave up on these ideas. Wish I would have checked in more often. As for the OOB, you are probably younger with a better memory than me. I can't keep that many units straight in a big battle. I think it makes it much easier to check up on units and see how they're doing at one look rather than having to + through each one. And, if you're looking for one specific unit, using the plus key can take awhile. I realize that some of these questions would be answered by getting SF, but that still wouldn't answer my questions as I wouldn't know that they were added in BN. Yes, the anticipation is cool, but I guess I was hoping to have some impact on future features, but it's probably a LOT late for that. Anyway, thanks for the info. It's much appreciated. Elmer, thanks for the info on the taking cover. That's pretty much what I meant. Although, I would think something like a sniper could hide pretty effectively behind a big AFV depending on where the enemy was positioned. In any case, it's good to know that bullets no longer fly through tanks and hit infantry behind them!
  22. Hi Mark, Thanks for the replies. One question you didn't answer. Can you hide behind a Vehicle? What I really mean by the LOS tool is, well, I guess it is sort of an Eagle eye view. I'm comparing to the old Panthers in the Shadows/Tigers On the Prowl that HPS Sims did years ago. You could, at a high level, click on a hex, pick a direction (not just a single LOS, but 180 degrees in that direction) and it would show you what hexes you coould see into and to what level of sight. It was color coded so you could easily tell good spotting locations. Now, i realize there aren't hexes, but something like this would be useful wouldn't it? Same thing with the OOB. In the CMAK scenario builder you get a list of your OOB. Why not have that available at run time? Jumping do them would also be useful I think. IDK, maybe I'm the only one that likes these ideas. yeah, I'll have to get around to downloading the demo, but that still won't tell me everything as I assume they're adding new things for CMBN right? Thanks again! Jet
