1. Try at http://www.abebooks.com/ I found cool stuff here. Ariel
2. My best ambush is showed as stand alone movie in CMHQ. In Last Defense as USA, I put two squads hiding at the adjacent sides of the right two stories building, and a MMG firing from the second floor. One entire german platoon try to swarm the MMG and got a quick dead in the first floor. Was fun. I killed the Tiger in the same turn also. But I lost the game Ariel
3. Try the Chance Encounter scenario. This is the more hard in the first time you play. I think you could d/l it in Battlefront and CMHQ. Try to play against humans by PBEM, there is the real challenge. Ariel
4. All American said:
quote:
I am not supporting the killing of civilians by ariel bombing but with the inaccuracey of WW2 bombers, civilan casualties should be expected if the military target is in a heavily populated area. As Fionn says, sh*t happens.

Uh? Ariel ps: I read somewhere that the SS soldiers were indoctrinated in being the most "ethics" soldiers in battlefield (the stuff of being arial supermen crusaders), specifically to avoid confrontations with inferior races. The book (a german research, IIRC) states that most of atrocities were committed by rear echelon units of regular army, as the SS was ever in combat. This not clean the SS name from some really bad things. All the nazi Germany was a bit (a bit?) crazy. But, as ever the racial thing comes, attrocities were committed in both sides. Being an asiatic in USA should have been hard in this days. No kill is a good kill. I disagree with Fionn in almost every thing he said about how to treat the "partisan problem". I think I read in the same book the Wermacht law's don't justify the use of criminal solutions to things, so, no trial could be made to soldiers disobeying criminal orders. One example about one german MP who refuses to participate in some "progrom" is cited in that book. Never was judged. If he was in trial, the criminal methods used by all german organizations could be revealed to all the world. They knows they were doing bad things. Sorry by my english and bad memory. Ariel
5. Chance Encounter as Axis. I retreated all forces but 3 Stugs and one Platoon HQ (Veteran). I fight until I loose one Stug, then retreated. USA minor victory (almost a draw, in fact). Ariel
6. Hola, gente. Yo soy de Argentina. Les sugiero que mejoren su inglés, porque hablando solo entre hispanos nos vamos a morir de angustia. Ariel

8. Hey, I'm argie too in CoC. I'm in the X31 regiment and we have trainings, good cooperation and all this things... The game is a lot of fun but you could got crazy with uncooperative people. Oh, I'm a "career corporal", as Yassy, a Captain, defines me with keen judgement Ariel
9. Hey, Mark... Let me know when you come here! Mail at my e-mail arielglb@hotmail.com I'm against the hunting, so I can organize some demonstrations in front of your hotel Ariel ps: "ciervo rojo" [This message has been edited by argie (edited 02-11-2000).]
10. Try in www.army.mil/cmh-pg/online.htm There is a pair of entire books covering the Korea's War Ariel [This message has been edited by argie (edited 02-10-2000).] [This message has been edited by argie (edited 02-10-2000).]
11. ... the prisoners responds instantly to movement orders the AI gives them. Why? I see it in a few games. When a human take prisoners must wait to the next turn and then the lag that the prisoner haves to begin the movement. It's clear what I'm saying? Another strange, non critical glitch: in LD, at the beginning of the units movements in the first turn, one german FO 81mms shows the JAM signal for a second... Uh? Ariel
12. Moon, I think the global morale thing is in. If you take the town in Last Defense by turn 8 and the USA global moral fall below 10%, in turn 10 the reinforcements come only to surrender to you. Not sure if it is by the Global Moral or the fact that you already have all the Victory Locations. Ariel [This message has been edited by argie (edited 02-03-2000).]
13. Howardb: The Glock 17 is an austrian pistol, not german... The M2 tripod, if my little experience counts, is much more simplest than the Lafette. An off topic question: Howard, how much you weight? You run with Carl Gustavs and absorves the recoil from an MG3!!! You are a very BIG viking, I think... Ariel
14. After a serie of games against the AI, hot seating against myself (no-loser situation) and PBEM, I have some questions to ask. Some of it I think were discussed before, but I don't remember if some conclusion was reached. 1- Turret rotation and hull facing: I understand that was SOP in heavy german tanks to rotate the hull to increase the turret's rotation speed. In one game LD I just played, my opponent ran their Hellcats all over the roads, dancing around my Tiger. My Tiger take two conflicting actions: face the front armor to the M18 and try to rotate the turret to target it. For it position, this manouvre ends with the hull front to the Hellcat, but, as the cannon was pointed to the other side, the cannon stays pointing the same place in wich was at the begining. So, it never point the gun against that M18. The movies from the two turns after the reinforcements are very interesting if you are a coreographer. The Tiger was buttoned because had lost their TC. The question is: Are this SOP (using the hull rotation to increase speed in targeting) being incorporated? The skill of the tripulation will be considered? Could a good veteran TC make their tank targeting first priority, instead of facing the better armor (front)? How mange this probably conflicting SOP (maybe a matter of skill level in TC)? 2- Same turn, same characters. The Hellcat take their position behind the Tiger (in fact, in front, as the Tiger rotates). Their main gun targeting the Tiger's rear turret. One of the Stugs target the M18 and fires one round. Before to fire the Tiger, the Hellcat try to target the Stug, begining a new turret rotation, and lefting the Tiger unscratched. End of the turn. The Hellcat was at roughly 7 mts. from the Tiger. Here the question is how accurate, in realism, is the targeting? I think the AI works in base to threat level in the battlefield, but it had a very high chance to take the Tiger and then point to the Stug. This behaviour is roughly similar to the infantry firing long shots instead of targeting closest ones. I think that in combat situation (I'm only could think about it. I'm lucky and never was in battle) one may tend to take the closest threat, instead of the target with more kill ratio in sight. More if the target was assigned to him. In the next turn, the Stug takes the M18, who can't rotate in time, and the Tiger, who was pointing the main gun at back, targets another M18 in ran against it. New facing dance... Was funny... Well, I never write so long in english, so better stop now and let you judge my style... Ariel
15. I played the germans first and my three Stugs were killed. But one took 2 Shermans with him. I took 2 more tanks with one Panzerschrek and other with Panzerfaust, from less than 10 meters (maybe much more less) When I lost the last Stug, I did a rush with infantry over the 2 Shermans left and take it out. Was fun. I took almost the same casualties than the USA, but I win a Total... Ariel
16. I promess don't use these 3 tiny mortars against you. Ariel
17. Chris, i think you got the idea. I think some honest people in other countries could represent the Battlefront interests, and increase their profit. Maybe Royston could be a good representative in Asia. He is sincere and polite, I think, beyond Fionn statements. Ariel
18. Hey, Lokesa, in which scenario you get that wep? I think i need it to stay as sarge at least. Ariel I just see the site Apocal... Guauuu!!! [This message has been edited by argie (edited 11-07-99).]
19. I don't agree with Marko. I think the people here take the easy way of put a line between morality and crime instead of listen the things that happens in real (third) world. But my english is too bad to discuss this topic in deep. Then, my little contribution: what about licensing? Maybe in a reginal basis. Here in Argentina we can access Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and other countries with less cost. Same for some country in Asia, I think. Or NZ. The licensor (spelling?) could even translate the manual. Steve say, replying to Royston, that two asian people (2) had do a preorder. Two in betwen how many thousand potential customers? I think you must forget morality in this and listen carefully to Royston. Is Capitalism what we are all talking here. I'm pretty sure that capitalism and morality haven't nothing in common. I had not make my preorder yet because the cost thing. I'm sure I gonna pay for the game. You Steve and Charles deserves it. And is for sure no one pirate here will have the interest in copying "this" game. Then I don't have the option to test my "morality". Remember, you proudly caucasian people , you make Robin Hood an hero, and the British Empire was made with piracy acts. Again, is capitalism the thing we are discussing. Sorry by my "weird" english. Ariel
20. Sorry, Coffee, it's my fault. I change the name instead of saving in another folder. And will continue making that. Ariel [This message has been edited by argie (edited 11-05-99).]
21. I run with all my vehicles ahead to the other side of river, loaded with all MGs and Company HQ. Then make an ambush at the American reinforcement zone. I have 2 nice Jpg of what happens. Was a nasty slaughter.
22. Sorry, I know this is off topic, but, how many people here are playing Chain of Command? I'm playing two accounts: argie and falucho, both Corporals in the hard way to Sargents. BTW, how many people here are women? Just curious Feel free to correct my spell and grammar. It is my way of learning english. Sorry again for the of topic thread. Ariel
