  1. Yea we all read posts that make us mad, but I think we have something really very in common with each other on this forum. WE WANT THE GAME ! hehe but also we are all persevearing to get a historically accurate account of weapons, tactics and men from WW2, so even when we read something that makes us mad, we keep it in check. Or theres the iron whip of Fionn which also does the job.
  2. Ok in a scenario, if a crew abandons their vehicle, will they get another tank in the next map? or the map after the next one? Yes fionn i understand it wouldn't be a quick thing to get a replacement panzer. Just wondering if you'll get the crew back ever.
  3. nah i don't think this was gamey, after all didn't the crews have mp-40's issued? like 1 per crew? and probably sidearms for each member. After all if your in a halftrack that a zook crew just wiped out, are you gonna run from them when they are 20 feet away and reloading for the next HT, or are you gonna be a might bit pissed off? Remember the scene in SPR when the spw gets knocked out, and the crew rushes out? they weren't rushing out for the hell of it If the allied soldiers aren't gonna eliminate the crew exiting the vehicle, then it aint gamey. Germans had to use every available man, luftwaffa ground crews can be infantry, then Panzer crews without rides can be too.
  4. Is the rifle types going to be limited to the stander mauser and mp40 for the infantry, or will there be improved units that use like the mp43 &mp44, and mauser carabine?
  5. I found the best method for destroying a halftrack is to center your fire on it from all 3 mortars.
  6. no kidding, i loved "the thin red line" book, but was disgusted at how bad the movie was, they said that terrance mallick hadn't made a movie in like 22 years prior to this, well i think he shouldn't make another one for another 22 years. And god don't let it be a war movie. Personal favorite warbook, "the forgotten soldier"
  7. Personally i dissagree, i think taking out the halftracks are crucial for supression. You can effectively turn away the german infantry attacks with combination of MG's and your infantry squads, but if those halftracks are there they are like moving suppression for your troops. On a good game i can get 3 sometimes 4 with my mortars, on a bad one 1 or 2. Haven't been able to use them too effectively against the enemy infantry, though i have used them for smoke.
  8. yea saw "when trumpets fade" pretty good story about how soldiers aren't all gung ho. Would have to say the first 30 minutes of SPR. And seeing those different panzers at the end were cool too. Das Boot of course, no video collection is complete without it. Personally loved Big red one. Battle of britain's a classic.
  9. yup they fixed them good! neutered them so to speak. But actually you know, in reality there were reports of certain knights cross winners who drove stugs killing 5 t-34's in under 30 seconds.
  10. ah those were those very late war model tigers VIt (turbo)
  11. Yea i know not only from books i've read (yes read panzer commander too) but from stories my grandfathers told me, that motorcycles were being used by the germans. In CM though, i think they'd only be useful as scouts, and not very bold ones at that, remember these things would have been very easy to take out. Cool little guys to play with, but in the big picture in CM pretty useless.
  12. Not to belittle any other countries that were fighting previous to Dec.7. but the date is important to Americans, as the saying goes "a day which will live in infamy". On the important dates for other countries I would humbly spent a moment thinking about those people if someone posted a note about those dates, of which there are probably a dozen different countries. And don't forget please that american merchant marines were dying previous to this date as well, not to mention volunteers who flew in the "eagle squadron" in battle of britain, and the secret military/civilian pilots that were part of the flying tigers squadron. Just because America wasn't in the war officially before this, doesn't mean we weren't supporting countries that were.
  13. Ok now this one is about the ethics of playing pbem, when playing against someone, in a pbem game, do you all play like your playing in a real life situation, i.e. playing like you don't know those m10's on last defense are comming in at turn 10. or Do you play like your playing against another player and take any kind of advantage possible? Did a maneuver the other day in last defense that guaranteed an early advantage against the allies, but playing in real life would never ever have attempted that maneuver. But was brought to my attention by my opponent that that maneuver would not have been attempted in real life, far far too risky.
  14. um yea i have a um personal in house gaming magazine called um "rommels games" and i umm need a pre-release copy too
  15. btw look at scenario reisburg, in the front description it says prisoners that were picked up earlier were from a different division, its already saying information received from prisoners.
  16. now come on, take no prisoners? Guess that was something that was left out of the army field manual. And honestly to say all prisoners are gonna be privates is kinda stretching it too. But regardless even a private who was marching down the road and sees a 88mm setting up, or maybe rode to the battle on the back of a panther, would know information that would be valuable.
  17. true but if a prisoner broke down and said like he knew that there were 3 88mm at guns in the area or something like that, not specific positions but unit types and proximity
  18. but what about intel? sure not in the 3 or 4 mintues of an engagement but like in a operation where you are victorious in one section of the map (as i understand how the maps work) inbetween the time for the next one, then you could break prisoners. And hey doesn't every regiment has their friendly gestapo or OSS representative? couldn't they do it?
  19. gotta agree, remember the hellcat just was better armored, i mean a hit to the side of the hellcat wouldn't knock it out, while the same would with a spw
  20. Ok i'll agree on one point, some reviewers might mark it down because of the fact that it has not tcip/ip but the fact of the matter is that what BTS has that many do not is CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are listening to what their customers want and delivering. I'll probably be playing this game for at least 2 or 3 weeks maybe a month before i even think about going to multiplayer. As for reviewers there have been many already that have spoken highly of the game itself, I think if anything they'd just say that BTS wanted to appease popular demand and will release TCIP/IP connection within a few months after release. But remember, if we wait for TCIP/IP they said that it could take up till MARCH! if it was just a week or two longer, maybe, but hell man i want to play! Release the game!
  21. ah but in every book by any german commander or american, prisoners were a vital source of enemy troop information. Sure in theory only your serial number, name and rank but in reality most people spilled their guts. True about the defense thing, but would have to argue against the elite, vetrans etc following the to the death thing, if anything the germans were very willing to give up if the situation was hopeless. In fact in north africa when a patrol would be ambushed often the ambushed would simply surrender, and the germans and british had an ongoing aggreement that they radio'd each other to see if so and so was captured. This information gathered from "panzer commander: by Col.von luck"
  22. Ok so in last defense i've got a german mechanized infantry soldier as a prisoner. 1: are they as hard to capture as in the demo, seems these are the troops hitler wanted, fight to the death and all that. 2: what information about the enemy will be given from prisoners? 3: any other stuff about prisoners
  23. hey i'm all for tcip/ip but not for the delay it'll cost the game, if they do it, do it in a patch. but pronto give us the game as steve said, we want CM done yesterday
  24. yea the site has some really hard to find info, such as that stug drivers wore grey uniforms wink wink
