1. good Rob.

I thought of suggesting getting someone to make the map for you and place units etc.

I think we should go with email, it's the only way to do it.

Bhq to Chq to Phq could be complex. But as long as the Bhq is general and the comands get more specific as they go down the line it should be really interesting

like a game of chinese whispers.

how about getting hte map maker to place units and name them after the players!

  2. Squeeks, you been reading my email with Pawbroon? Sneaky little bastard.

Well, it seems your time away from the pool (was that a temper tantrum or did mediocrity cause fatal brain seizure for a few days?)hasn't reduced the bile in your belly.

Perhaps your sister completed your toplement and now you are her taunting minion which she waves in front of us like some cheap marionette where all the strings but one controlling the lolling head are loose or broken, so your head and mouth twitch like some roadkill on an empty highway.

The only result is that your sister torments us with the verbose equivalent of "you won't play my game you nasty men, whaaa", and we see it in every second post that diuretically you splash upon the thread. It's like I have to get a healthy bunch of cleenex and wipe the screen down after each of your posts less it all dribbles down the monitor and collects on the desk in some festering puddle.

Get on with your game with the True Hand, Snatchy and enough of these little two-bit whines.

  3. Also, it's a game.. there has to be some chance of winning or you're not going to play. I think the losses to both sides will be well represented when the Russians are forced to use conscripts and green troops and later in the war when the Germans have some good gear but find the Russians more than a match

  4. The east front also has both sides attacking, and both sides defending at different periods of the war.

Vastly different types of terrain and battles and some different equipment.

Also, I should note the t34 is hardly a land battleship. In size it's smaller than the Tiger and it's only a little bigger than a Sherman.. And you know? It was designed by an American but wasn't picked up by the US army so he went to Russia.. wow.. imagine if the Yanks had been armed with t34s!

  5. well it's like this.

I was sitting playing a game against a friend the other night, and it suddenly struck me (even after owning it for so long), how damn cool it is!

I can choose my own force, drop them on a totally random yet wonderfully made map, and every battle is different and unique.

I can watch my AT Gun as it rotate and locks on to the enemy tank... I can zoom in so the effects of paralax (?) are more pronounced and hear the gun fire, and see the shot arc through the air, and strike, followed by an explosion, smoke and the cries of crew.

    Buy it smile.gif

  6. sounds like a plan.

I will probably see the map, then issue orders to each of them and give the list of names and they pass it one to the other as they do their orders. Then it's returned to me and I hit 'go'.

Then i receive the movie, review and tell them their orders and they pass it around watching/ordering whatever, then back to me for 'go'

  7. I've been reading a few AARs (real life ones) where blowing buildings was a standard tactic.

In Casino, in their words, they "sniped with the 8inch". Yup, one howitzer, good fire control.. slowly move it on taget and then blow the **** out of the enemy across the street.

any kind of city/town fight most would assume the civilians are gone, and if the enemy is in the town, no holds barred.

  8.
quote:
Always the right mix

I think it's kinda the point that you don't always have the right mix. No, you can't have a firefly loaded up with HE and AP. No, you can't give you hetzer piles of HE.. or whatever. Changing the system would, in my mind, throw game balance and points in complicated and messy directions.

As for Germanboy's 'Generalization'. If by that you mean "well generally that happened in WW2", well that's the IDEA. This is a ww2 game where the general theme is to get as close to history as possible.

If you want to take a firefly, but want fire support, pick up a stuart even, pick up a cheap M4, it's not too difficult and allies almost always have the points for it. Furthermore you get a couple of MGs chucked in as well.

Also, who wants BTS fiddling with stuff like ammo options when they could be doing something useful? I'd rather not have osme ahistorical stuff start popping up like a building blowing M10, or a infantry support 17lb. I also don't think that many other people would either.

This is an interesting idea, but not within CM's design I would suggest.

  9. It saddens me to see so many vapid lies spread about one so honest, easy going and pleasant as I. Yet, JD Morse, apparently my sponsor, refuses to release the truth about his mangy lot and their inveitable defeat.

Whilst he niggles over the victory locations, and may even be correct, he can't see the forrest for the trees. One victory location he was so proud of -almost- holding I recaptured with half of a squad of riflemen.

Fact is I definately own 2 of the 4, of the remaining two, one is a little flag a fair distance away, the other one should return to my control shortly.

His little flanking move is amusing, yet I hope he has more than that remaining halftrack and lynx with a squad or two or it's going to be a short battle.

Come on JD, you do have some more troops somewhere don't you? Please say yes or the rest of this fight is going to be slow!

    Herr Oberst

I see he's still chortling from his lucky break on those panthers. Alright, no more mr nice guy!

    Elvis

I don't report on that game because it's.. well.. it's bloody dull (Sherbrook Fusiliers)! I stopped giving orders some 3 turns ago and now just watch as all the various units fire at each other and slowly one by one die. Please, kill all my stuff quicker so we can get this one over and done with.

    Chupacabra

Well an allied tactical victory at the pub is good enough for me! The hordes of frenchies (all green) on the assault overcame the conscript germans defending what seemed to be the Swiss Alps, (nice one andreas). I could say the 105 VT played a decisive role in the battle but I think it was more my tactical genius.
