Yes, I know! Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac, so unless someone donates me one (and some software), I'm out cold. But as I said, Ariel Becerra is going to port it (he's away on holliday now, though). Another reason for starting a user group was that I hoped some Mac people would join so that Ariel could get some help (testing etc).

    Elijah:

Thank you mate! smile.gif I've found that the best way to keep small 'o' above the 'a' is to use Zap-a-Gap (superglue)! biggrin.gif

Seriously, if you press and hold down the ALT-key, then press 3 9 0 in sequence and release the ALT, you should get an 'å'. Of course, on my norwegian keybord there is a key for it! wink.gif

    Napoleon:

The map for Cocat 1.10 was made by Rene Lloyd, but any graphical file will do (as long as it isn't bigger than roughly 2000x3000 pixels).

COCAT USER GROUP

Ladies and gentlemen of the board. Would you like to join the Cocat User Group?

"Huh?" I hear you ask. Well then, let me elaborate a bit...

Cocat is an acronym for Combat Mission Campaign

Tool. It's a graphical tool (created in Visual Basic) originally

    developed for the CMMC, but

in such a way that it will be easy to convert it to almost any WWII campaign

currently covered by CM. The current version is 1.10 and is tailor maid for

    the CPX, a CMMC test-run.

Cocat allows you to create units that can be

moved around on a map, draw movement arrows, place objectives and map labels,

write unit orders and keep track of combat losses, supply etc. etc. To find out

more about Cocat, please go to the Cocat

Section at CMHQ (the 1.10 version is still hot from the press, so that page

might not have been updatet yet). Please note that Cocat is currently only for PCs, but I'm

hoping that there will be a Mac version out soon (Ariel has started looking into

    it).

Now, in order to develop Cocat further, I would

like to set up a user group with people who can help me with ideas, testing,

programming etc. If you think this sounds interesting, send an email to paaar@online.no,

or use ICQ # 21751180 (ICQ is temporarily down because I'm upgrading it, but

    it'll be up soon).

    Mr Kdog, Sir!

Thanks for stopping that little .... ! smile.gif

I was just wondering, do you have moderators spread out across the globe? I.e. Europe, Asia etc. If not, perhaps a few extra moderators from those places would better the chances of one being present at all time.

There are probably a lot of people out there like me who checks the board at least a few times each hour while at work (but don't tell my boss! smile.gif).

    Just my 2c.

  5. Welcome to the crowd, you'll probably be assimilated soon...(Borg?) smile.gif

I agree that "flying" turrets would be a nice touch. However, it would mean that the 3D models of the turreted vehicles would have to be made more detailed, and have some new "skins" for the parts exposed after the turret is thrown clear of the vehicle. Then it's the process of making the turret fly through the air, which probably would also need some nifty coding!

But perhaps it'll happen in the next verison of the engine, CM II (which isn't the same as CM2 - East Front if I understood correctly). We'll just have to wait and see, I guess. smile.gif

  6. When setting up the forces, I have sometimes pressed the GO! button by accident when changing height. Could it be possible to add something like this:

    IF GO! button is pressed

    IF phase is setup

ask if user wants to continue

    IF answer is yes

    goto turn 1 phase

    ELSE

    return to setup phase

In other words, if you're in the setup phase and press the GO! button by mistake, it would have been nice to be able to cancel that. Perhaps in the game phase as well, or at least have an option for it.

  7. What really makes the game for me, is the fact that you can choose! And what a set of choices....! smile.gif

On a side note, I tride setting up a LAN game between two of my PCs at home, and it workede like a blast. Now, I have a standard ISDN connection to the internet, but I still get an IP starting with 192.168.0 ... (on both PCs).

I thought I wouldn't be able to set up a game (only connect) with that type of IP address, or did I misunderstand the readme? Anyway, playing solo aginst myself on two computers was ... an interesting experience! biggrin.gif

  8. Hi folks,

I know this is way OT, but since HPS is a small independent company much like BTS, I thought it might be of some interest.

    Grumbling rant mode on

According to a rumour I heard recently, Hasbro is taking legal action against HPS ( www.hpssims.com , makers of fine games like "Panthers in the Shadow", "Tigers on the Prowl", "Aide de Camp" (ok, it's not a game, I know!),"Panzer Campains" etc) since HPS's latest games ("Panzer Campaigns" among others) are too similar to some now Hasbro owned games (they have indeed been made by the same people, so...).

    Can anyone confirm this?

I thought about writing what I really think about Hasbro, but that would probably result in a legal action against me as well! frown.gif

I'm not the first to suggest this (cant remember who was first) but I think it bears repeating.

both Pillar and ScoutPL need to stop discussing the issue and settle it on the 3D field of honor.

    Quite right!

Now, why don't everybody take one step back while the moderators locks this thread up (we can all see where it's heading, right?) and then we move on to the next topic!
