  1. I got a copy of this just before christmas I would recommend it to any of you. Not like CM but doesn't try to be. I like HPS, a small guy like BTS. They're on our side and trying to do a good job. I like to support them when I can and the game is fun, very big. Should pass a lot of time with it while waiting for you know what.
  2. My appologies if this has been covered. Does the % exposure given by the LOS tool take into consideration sight diminution by such thing as trees, leaves on trees, bushes, wheatfields, smoke, haze, light conditions such as dusk and dawn? 2. Does that equate with hit chance by that unit's particular weapon? 3. Can an infintry unit shoot from a hiding position? Can they crawl to the top of a rise and fire over the rise? This would mean they could see their target clearly with excellent hit %but because they would be lieing flat on the ground and would offer a much smaller target. Sort of a "hull down " position for infintry. ** please excuse spelling errors.

  5. The build that Fionn and the boys are playing seems to be updated with lots of fixes, tweaks, and additions that are not in the version we have. This is exciting to me because I love the one I've got now. These thing shave been mentioned throughout various discussions but I'm thinking it might be real interesting to see a brief listing of the things that have changed in the game since beta demo first came out. Probably to much work for someone but I just can't help but ask...
  6. Is there someway to quickly determine if a platoon is in their company, or what platoons are in their company? You know what I mean. Thanks
  7. and questionmarks that appear under platoon commanders info. This has probably been asked and I tried a search but didn't know what to ask for. Also, how do we use the +1 and +2 ratings for various characteristics under commander info. Thank you.
  8. I'm sure this has been covered but what are the numerical ratings of the HQ units for? What do they mean and how should I be using this info during play? Thanks.
  9. Thanks Fionn. It happened last night and of course I just kept right on playing. I'll play the scenario again and try to place the zook in the same position and see if it happens again. Hate to ask this but can you give me a quick and dirty on how to send the screen shot to you?
  10. My understanding is that with the 3D model the units in the game see what i see. I have been trying to use "tab" and then "1" so i can get on their shoulder so to speak and see what they see. I also use the Line of Sight order to check this. I had a bazooka hidden behind the stone wall and didn't need to to worry about him firing to soon as he couldn't see down the road much more that 100m because of a slight rise in front. Finally, an HT comes down the road and the bazooka doesn't fire. During the orders phase i go to issue the target order and get the responce that target is "out of sight". I use the LOS order and get the same thing. When I use "tab" "1" and get down on that bazooka's level i can clearly see the HT. It's not perfect but but I can see at least 75% of it. I'm probably not doing this correctly. Please respond. Also, could some one please advise me as to if there is some way to have our units hold fire until a high percentage shot is available other than using "hide" and thaen later "stop hidding" and then "target". This early firing just may be the fog of war model where the soldier says "I'm scared, the enemy is everywher i look, I'm nervous and I'm not waiting anymore...I'm sooting now!".....if so... cool.
  11. Try TacOps # demo.. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Not like what I expect CM will be but very detailed. I still have room on my hard drive for this type game.

  15. BTW Steve, how is the manual coming. I, like Fionn, love a good manual and have kept everyone I have owned. I'm asking as I remember you saying that was one of your responsibilities. My award for most indept and helpful currently goes to Tigers on the Prowl 2. I still pick that one up from time to time. Can't wait to see if your takes ove r the top spot.
  16. I've really enjoyed your reviews on the Game Source and find them to be the most indept and complete of all i have read. Can't wait to see your review/preview of CM. It oughta look like Gone With the Wind.
  17. steve, would you mind listing the german ranks in CM and how they correspond with american and british ranks? thanks. also, is it safe to assume that we may be seeing the beta demo within three weeks.....hmmmmm?
  18. Steve, there was mention of prisoners and the need to keep them guarded because they would try to escape and return to there own lines. Will the surrendered units remain in the map and if so how will you assign one or two troops tostand guard. Fascinating...sorry if this has already been asked and answered.
  19. Fionn refers several times to his sharshootyers or FO's reporting some observation like a number of tanks spoted or inf. units crossing some hillside. Do these reports really come through on the game or is that just Fionn's way of spicing up the commentary. It would really like for that to be true.

  21. Finding this page is the worst thing that ever happened to me. I even reloaded Tigers on the Prowl II (which i think has the best game engine i have found for that type game to date) and have been playing it. It's just that I read this Forum and I cant wait to get my hands on this game. Yesterday I broke down and bought Close Combat III and actually it kind of fun, but I know it's not going to stack up to CM. I'm so ashamed..... how much longer will it be?
  22. I notice on the screenshots that there is a patch of darker green around each tree. does this represent the woods and does it mean that any squad or vehicle icon located on this green patch is in a wooded area?
