  1. And that's why I play Panzer ELite instead of getting furious at the dumb ai behavior. Take the matters into my own hands, load up PzGrt39/40 and let it fly towards some ronson
  2. You know if other companies notice the success of CM and they'll jump on the wagon, producing another series of clones as happened after C&C, we might have a whole choice of 3d tactical combat games. There could even be middle age armies going at it, feudal japan in true 3d battle, unlike the Shogun Total War, it could be done if things are implemented the right way. I just wonder if CM could be done in real time, combining the order phase with action phase, give orders on the go, in real time. The game is fun as it is but I just wish I could give orders while events are unfolding. The panther just stood there shooting at some infantry unit while sherman was in plain view taking shots at my units. I remembered this ww2 tank simulation game called Panzer Elite and I decided to go for a stroll, take matters into my own hands Make short work of some ronsons. I even wasted some human players online, too bad two games can't be combined. I also miss the huge Elephant unit out of GE vehicles, too bad it's not in it. Noticed the dam map made by Fion. That's great when everything could be made in a scenario editor. The battles could go on forever, a whole list of scenarios evolving into a campaign, taking cities, block by block, defending bridge crossings, wow! 3. Can buildings be placed in the editor? How bout raising terrain? Or is it just the given maps to place different units on? I was thinking how cool it would be to place a bunch of buildings on the map and have only foot soldiers fighting it out, sort of like take the Stalingrad or defend Berlin where fighting took place from building to building.
  4. I knew this was gonna happen, I should've add a line to my post that losers, lamers, fanatics need not post. Notice I didn't say; CM sucks, I want the game to be like CC and be played in real time. Ezra keeps blabbing about the market and crap and says "But please, Leave this game for me" you said that 'you don't care to play them' Well, this game is for you. It's gonna be released in few weeks, I never wanted to take this game AWAY from U! I don't care if you dress your barbie doll on your pc, it's your life, your comp and u play what u want. I was just wondering if it was possible to do CM in real time, just an idea with hopes of hearing from designers. Then some other moran says "kia, in a word or two......HELL NO!!!!!" Both of you should get together and screw each other and slap some buttocks. 'Ooh big boy, Ooh, bang my ass like a little school boy!' Enough with them/ I said it when I first played this game that it's great, new, fresh idea in this follow the crowd strategy momentum. Hm, I can't even think of a notable turn based strategy that came out lately. There's SSI's Reach for the stars coming soon, but their screens kinda suck, there's Imerium Galactica 2 with turn based game and real time battles which looks good so far and that's what comes to my mind right now. I used to love TBS and still do, I played single games of Civ and Civ2 for weeks and thought just like Elvis, that RTS like Age of Empires would suck and that I like to 'relax and take time planning moves for my units and so on'. I tried the rts and I must say it's a whole new different experience. The exhiliration that comes from monitoring everything at once.. the rush of taking care of one aspect and thinking about the other, especially online, it's a battle between you and your human opponent and the winner is usually the one who keeps an eye on all the things, attacking and producing new units and defending home base. It's a fantastic experience and I think everyone should try it.. every game of AOE I played online, I swear my heart rate was in 200's, the thrill I had from the win and knowing that my planning and micromanagement came together! Notice that I said "it would offer some advantages, crating a whole different game", "perhaps a different build of CM" one that would be in real time. I didn't say, don't release CM as it is, change it to real time. I suggested that if it was possible to perhaps release CM in real time as a stand alone game after this one is out on the market. I like CM right now but I just wonder how it would be played when me and my opponent is also issuing orders at the same time. I think I would like that action. Some ppl complaing about CM being realistic now.. Well the player becomes a general issuing orders to battle groups with intention to defeat his enemy. Think, during the war did Rommel and his American counter part issued orders and then watched what happened for a minute, then called each other up and said 'ok sir, now we plan turn 2 of the battle'? Or was it chaos? And what was planned before the battle turned out into all out war, and the general who was able to keep track of all the aspects of the battle and use them to their full advantage went on to fight another day? I'm just doing some brainstorming here. Online Battle scenarios would not have to be big, choosing units before the battle would be a must as it was in CC3 (why these morons didn't do it for CC4 is a mystery), thinking how to beat your opponent and his units is crucial. Deciding to get all heavy armor or have panzerschrecks and combined force of ground troops supported by armor to knock out enemy tanks, then keeping track of your units. Also moving around with camera would have to be improved to be faster, perhaps it could be still done for CM, right mouse hold or holding shift and moving mouse would move the camera, ctrl and mouse move would turn the camera around. These are just ideas and to those who contributed with some constructive comments I Sallute <S!>, I know this is a public forum and there's no way to keep some fanatical morans away who treat anything said that's diferent from their usual bible crap is an attack on their cult.
  5. CCM for Close Combat Mission. Combined CC and CM. After planning one mission in the new scenario, my Stug started shooting at some infantry in the woods, however a tank became visible and my Stug kept targeting the inf which started running in front of the tank! so the Sherman knocked my tank out. Iw as watching the whole action from tab1 view which shows the view as being the tank commander. A drawback became obvious in this game. With the order planning part and watching the orders being carried out, there's no way to order a unit to attack something else during the action phase. I was thinking if CM could be played in real time as CC(yes, the game blows). Where orders could be given at any time, players could attack units different then the ones computer chooses to attack, maybe the game would probably become a click fest and the it would become another RTS where tactics, planning would have as much significance as being able to keep track of the units and issue orders on the go.. However, it would offer some advantages, crating a whole different game which could be played online in an hour or so instead of a week long PBEM game. I was wondering if it would be possible to implement planning into action phase, perhaps a different build of CM. It would be a 3d ww2 real time game, I think it may have potential. If design team or anyone has thoughts about my idea, if it was possible to accomplish that I would love to see them. Thx
  6. That's exactly what I had in mind. That's why I said "if there was a way to link few units to a platoon commander so that we could move a group of soldiers just by clicking on the commander and issuing him orders." Say we could right click on a ss troop and link it to the commander. There already is a line from a unit to a commander, now we could just have them link up to form a team. So we could link up few units to a commander and form a battle squad where the entire squad could be moved just by issuing an order to the commander. Ability to form a some formation so they all move in sync with the commander behind and perhaps few choices as- form a line, wedge, dome, scatter.. I think all it takes is just few more options when right clicking on a unit. However, I must express some dissatisfaction with the demo. My tiger was standing on a road and when the tank destroyers came through reinforcments one of them came into view of the tiger. I saw the two exchange a serious of shots. The tiger (not moving, buttoned, just standing still, facing the hellcat) shot all 4 rounds way up above the hellcat! while all 4 rounds from hellcat hit the tiger. First 3 hit and shell broke up, the 4th penetrated front hull and boom goes the tiger. Can you imagine the foam in my mouth when I saw shot after shot from the tiger flying way up above the hellcat? I really hope this was some freak accident in calculations for shell projectory and I saved the game few turns before so I'll go back and replay the turn I hope this will be unacceptable in the future version. I don't want to get into my ww2 tank warfare history but the superior targetting of the tiger with it's vetaran crew who shot 4 rounds and missed all of them is outmost ridiculous. Tiger's could engage and knock out allied tanks from some 2k, which was out of range for allied tanks. I hope the team will tweak this up.
  7. I must say that few of the people that suggested this option are correct. when playing the scenario, I would like to select a group of troops and send them through the trees. I like to conserve energy and clicking on each and every unit and ordering it to move ahead is very annoying. I play with the paths turned on anyway so I see in the planning turn where each unit has to go, if I want to modify their route I can click on the unit. Or if there was a way to link few units to a platoon commander so that we could move a group of soldiers just by clicking on the commander and issuing him orders. I am all for precision and in time of combat units can be ordered one by one, but if situation requires to move a large number of units over a distance, it would be just more convenient to be able to do it faster. Hope this explains the usefulness of click & drag.
  8. I must admit, this game took me by surprise. What a beauty. If I use view 1, I feel as if I'm there amongst my troops. It took me a minute to get accustomed to the interface but once I got the hang of it, it was a painless procedure. I saw some screenshots and I see snow. This will be great. What combat theaters and terrain's are planned to be included int he full version? Snowy steeps on the outskirts of Stalingrad? Sandy road of the Desert Fox through Tunisia? Since this is a beta I think the full unit markings will be there, on tanks and other vehicles. I wish to know if the elite WaffenSS units will also be modeled in the game? Forgive my asking as I don't have time to read all the posts but can the Stuka's be called in to punish the enemy with some horrifying air strikes? Oh, and I forgot to add my only concern so far. I just wish there would be a way to select multiple units. As in the scenario, all these foot soldiers have to be clicked on and assigned orders, I would prefer if we could click and drag an area and the units in the box could be ordered at once. So if I want to send a group of soldiers in the advance, I could do it without having to click on every one and ordering it move. [This message has been edited by kai (edited 10-30-99).]
