  1. Chup, I never entered one of those rediculous Peng threads, so please, after 20 years of wargaming, I still like to discuss game topics (even about one or two inch more of armor on any tank), and not be a member of wannabee stand-up comedians. Poolers are def not the 'elite' of CM fans, and they should live with it; when it all started (you saw my number?), there was no PENG pool, there were just 'boring' grogs that commented on the game...and it worked. So, stay in your 'pools' and let us discuss game topics...and all will be good. Fred
  2. As I said before, nonsense. No, it does not waste bandwidth...but it wastes time. Ignore it,... true-blue grogs do not taunt, they play... Fred
  3. I 2nd that! Scale modellers everywhere, rejoice! I checked some german CM sites, and Tom's is numero uno... Great job! Fred
  4. These 'Peng' threads are pure nonsense, but liked by BTS (for whatever reason). It has nothing to do with CMBO, and is obviously for people who think that they share some certain type of 'humour'. It adds nothing to the game, but, even if off-topic, is obviously tolerated. Just ignore it. Fred [ 05-05-2001: Message edited by: Fred ]
  5. FFE. we are talking about zooks, not LAWs... 'Regular' zooks need some 100 m to hit flat... Fred
  6. Paw MB is another difficult customer... And Tiger, hope to see your fine work in CMBB, Barbarossa to Berlin...playing soon in a theatre close to you Fred
  7. The Grandmaster of scenarios éxtraordinaire is back! Nice to have you back on track WBW! Fred
  8. I just gave it a try; well, no feet poking out between the tracks in my cmbo version. You have v 1.12? Fred
  9. Tiger, Maximus, I use mods from both of you, and I never thought about pixels or blurriness. Pieces of art, not more, not less. You both did a GREAT job, and there is no need to go into a "my thingie is bigger than yours" discussion. It is all about mod style and taste, and if this is different, well, the better it is for the community. Tiger, I really hope that you do not quit modding b/c of this discussion. Anyway, both of you, keep up the good work, calm down...and take a look at the download numbers of all your mods Tiger and Max...this speaks for itself Fred [ 05-05-2001: Message edited by: Fred ]
  10. well, after all this talk about the 'invulnerability' and 'gamey' issues I did some test runs. This thingie is dead meat if zooks fire on it from a decent range (50-100 m); it is dead meat if a .50 halftrack opens up; it is dead meat if infantry opens up with small arms fire. Ok, it survives some hits from tanks, but after 27 seconds, my Stuart kills it. It is tougher than in 1.05, but not invincible. Fred
  11. Abbott, get the Churchill! This tank is a winner. Even Panthers and Tigers will bow to it. Quite frustrating if a Tiger/Panther gets non-penetration hit after hit... Fred [ 04-30-2001: Message edited by: Fred ]
  12. Abbott, you are right; most of it is senseless and does not add anything to the fine game Charles Moylan and Steve Grammont designed. Insults of people does not make any sense to me. I keep it this way...simply not my kind of "humor" and def not a contribution to this fine game. Fred [ 04-30-2001: Message edited by: Fred ]
  13. Well, that's what I'm talking about; people that spread their kind of "humor"... I really do not care for the rediculous "Peng" threads or the infamous Hamster talks. Take a look at my member number; not all old-timers degenerate into Peng things. As longs as those people keep it to their "one" thread, it is ok, but now, all those comedian wannabees try to infiltrate even serious threads, and this is something true-blue gamers can not tolerate, so thanks to Madmatt and his policy to keep those nonsense-threads under control. Fred
  14. well, as this is the CM forum, topics should be on the game. I know, some twisted kind of "humor" fills thread after thread, but basically for OT things, there is still the general forum. Fred
  15. wow! were we this bs when we were young? I doubt it... oh, btw, "Patton" with a double "t", pls...and when you turn 14, daddy should buy you a dictionary...you simply have better chances to get a job if you are skilled in the art of writing... Fred
  16. Well, I agree. All those rediculous Peng or Hamster threats do not add anything to the game, and should better be redirected to the general forum. Fred
  17. Well, Panzer Leader...you remember CM = tactical combat..no sieges, no Sevastopol DORA or GUSTAV attacks... Just ours vs. da bolshevik hordes Fred
  18. I will send you an email with the scenario(s) attached. What is your email address? (if you don't want it public, send it to fh221@aol.com). Fred
  19. ...anyone out there for a challenge? Someone want to playtest my scenario? In fact, there are two versions of the scenario, one for Axis vs. AI and one for Allied vs. AI (the same basic battle but diferent setup, tweaks, etc. ). It is named "No white flags in Gundershofen". Lead Easy Company into hell, or be the Kampfkommandant of Gundershofen... Any volunteers? Fred
  20. anyone remembers this one? ...but, how to cross the street and get into the factory, without the smoke ability of the german combat engineers ? In CM, no inf unit is able to use smoke. In CM2, the ability to do it should be assigned at least to Sturmpioniere/Combat Engineer units (maybe one or two Nebeltöpfe should be sufficient, like the satchel charges in CMBO). Thoughts? Fred
  21. hmm, first of all, you pay A LOT more points for a tank company then for a inf company. Second, it dependes on the terrain and the weather. If it is night or fog, your advantage in range is not this important. If it is muddy, (and no roads to speak of) your tanks will have a hard time of moving around. And if you have to go to town, better take some grunts with you, or else your tanks will be toasted. A combined arms force is usually FAR superior than any tank-only force. Fred
  22. von Schrad, long time ago you were here guy... nice to see an "oldtimer" back on track.. Fred
  23. first of all, make sure that you did a full install, then check the path of your windows shortcut icon. It should be "c:\cmbo\combat mission.exe" (if you installed on c There should be no reference to your CD drive in the shortcut on your desktop. Fred
  24. well, since 1.12, the AI is def better on the attack (this is a reason to use 1.12, even if there is the smoke bug and the invulnerability of the various german SdKfz) In "The 21. Panzer attacks" campaign I only was able to get a draw (as the germans). If there is only one reason to use 1.12, it is the better attack ability of the AI. Fred
