  1. Don't hate me, but I have to comment on this.

People have in the past called the RPG either too effective or not effective enough. And here's the trend I've observed in those complaints:

Those claiming the RPGs are not effective enough will give an example of them firing RPGs at vehicle X and it not getting killed. And the people that think RPGs are too effective will always relate how RPGs killed their vehicle X with ease.

It is never someone complaining that their vehicle X got hit with a gazillion enemy RPGs without it getting KO-ed. Or that it's entirely too easy to kill an enemy vehicle X with the players RPGs. Never ever.

Suck it up people, sometimes you are the pigeon, sometimes you are the statue! ;)

  2. -Allow the player to drop and pick up ammo in setup.

The frenzied shifting of squad carried anti-tank and machine gun ammo to that weapon's operator just prior to battle can be quite tricky to do in time when on the defence. It's a neat little detail, don't get me wrong, but without the option to distribute ammo during setup it's also a bit of a PITA.

  3. This new behaviour caught me out unexpectedly too, once or twice. You get used to it though, and it does make sense. Especially with the SPGs you don't want them to turn to targets willy nilly, humbugging your carefully laid plans.

It does mean a bit more micromanagement of your AFVs, but this shouldn't cause too much headaches since your infantry need less constant hand holding now.

  4. England is famous for fog. Syria... not so much. Hence I suppose there is no fog in CMSF.

But haze is most definitely in. It's included in some scenarios but since I couldn't name them from the top of my head I suggest you fire a random scenario in the editor and change the environment conditions to haze or heavy/thick haze. Or selected haze in the QB generator.

    PS

Could you reduce your images to a more forum friendly 800x600 by any chance? Thanks.

  5. You might want to give a linear arty mission with the Infantry target type for the air burst effect. That'll clean those trenches out double quick.

But generally I'd advise popping smoke before you disembark and then unload directly on top of cover. and then don't move them about much except when it can be done safely.

Use the firepower your vehicles provide to smash the Syrian strong points and mop up survivors in the trenches. Also, cleaning the trenches on the road side of the fort is a useful thing to start with, the rest you can leave for later, when the fort is in your hands.

To what do you lose your Abrams though? If you drive them all on top of the berm at the start you should deal with the dug in tanks nicely. Then keep two on overwatch on top of the berm at your right flank. Don't get them close to RPGs, you can hurt them from afar, they can't. In some instances you'll need to get Strykers close to the action. In that case make sure every Syrian nearby is either dead or being suppressed by heavy area fire.

The weapon they had equipped last, to be exact. Usually. Though in this case I do not doubt it.

You wouldn't happen to have the savegame of this incident, would you? If you could, please email it to the addy in my profile and I'll look in to what's going on. Something odd, that much is for sure.

  7. Uhm, I'm not sure I'm following you. Who did what? For as far as I can see the US still has both AT4s and no CLU for a Javelin so couldn't possibly have hit itself with a rocket. Did you mean the M203 40mm grenade launcher? Smoke/dust seems to be a bit much for that, to be honest.

And M1a1, if you had been more observant you would have noted that Wiggum is playing the German language version of CMSF. So give him a break on his English, why don't you?! How is your German?

    Ouch, harsh much? ;)

I'll say I haven't spent a lot of time looking at the inf animations with a critical eye (too busy trying to figure out where to send them without getting them killed ;) ), but still, they don't seem ridiculous or anything. </font>

  9. I'm not an expert on these matters by any means either. So if at any time your computer explodes... I wasn't here, never talked to you. Who are you again? ;)

Firewall and router aren't the same thing, so if you only set your firewall, that might be it. Check the manual of your modem (which is doubling as a router) it should have a section on changing your router settings.
