  1. Play Blue Vs Red AI; H2H; there is one AI plan Red Vs Blue AI but it does not play out all that well.

    Background

Our Regimental Combat Team (RCT) main effort is engaged in clearing operations to the north of AR RIBAT. In the past week enemy fighters supported by combatants have been stepping up ambushes on our convoys travelling along Highway 5.

The SBCT battalion S2 states that there is a hard core of around 40 experienced and well-armed Chechen fighters co-ordinating this activity.

At 0645Hrs this morning the Battalion CP received a radio message from Timberwolf (SBCT Battalion CO) that the supply convoy he had been travelling with had been attacked by an IED. This attack had been followed up by heavy and sustained small arms, MG and RPG fire from the surrounding buildings. Currently Timberwolf is now in defence positions in a small farm 100m NE of Blue 3 on Highway 5.

1st Platoon (2 rifle teams and 3 Strykers), designated as the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), has been tasked to immediately make contact with Timberwolf at their position at Blue 3. They are enroute heading north up Highway 5...

    Grab it HERE!

As always feedback, comments ect most welcome.

    Cheers fur noo

The way you present your scenarios there is great and as it seems that you made quite the scenario here, I was wondering if you had any plans in that respect?

PS. I haven't played the scenario much less play the game...hell I don't even own it lol.

I have thought about :)Nice of you to say how much you enjoy all the stuff. Charlie and I would need to redesign the home page, but that's not a problem. At the moment the problem is time or lack of it! Busy with CMSF and the CMBB scenarios. I'll be around sometime during the XMas holidays - so I'll get onto it then I think.

We are just putting the finishing touches to the last few Strachwitz scenarios and currently debating what our next series for CMBB will be... ;)

How you getting on with the editor? Are you getting the hang of it?

I've only just started working with it and found it a bit strange the way the briefings are put together.... but I also had the same thoughts with CMx1 briefings when the game first came out! smile.gif

    Hi Mate! smile.gif

Yup I must admit I really enjoy working with the editor - it's far more involved than in CMX1 but it does allow you to produce more realistic looking terrain.

The briefings thing is odd, but guess like the CMX1 once oyu get the hnag it's nae bother. I just save the txt file, insert my text then delete the headings, and insert the txt file into the scenario. I like the inclusion of maps (although we did lobby for larger maps, graphics overlays etc just it all came down to the issue of coding and time etc). I guess it does make it more challenging to pruduce scenarios but I think in time people will get the hang of it (many already appear to have done so given the quality of scenarios being uploaded to CMMODS). It might be that the involved nature of the editor might keep it in the realm of those with a scenario design bent but we'll see.

  4. Hi Guys

Sorry to cause confusion. I was caught out by the chnage to make Syrian arty support more realistic (only FOOS can call it in). So the chnage is to give the Syrians a FOO. I guess it'll make a differenc just it won't make things any easier for the US player. I'm not sure how good the AI is at calling in artillery... ;)

I suspect it won't spoil your enjoyment of wherever you are at in current games smile.gif

in summary, so far I managed to kill one javelin squad, the m2 and rv humwee, both bradley. A squad with survivors are hiding in bldgs. My opponent just received a new wave of renfort. the serious stuff is about to start now and I'm expecting my casualties to grow quickly

    Excellent! smile.gif

Handihoc I suspect you are right, that in H2H this might well prove beyond the US player. Still we'll see. I reckon indiscriminate use of artillery fire could win the day smile.gif Think WW1 Barrages...

  7. I still play and design scenarios for CMBB. Partly cos I have an interest in the Eastern Front, and also because I still enjoy CMBB. I like playing larger actions company plus on large maps.

CMX2 allows me to play smaller more detailed actions which I also enjoy. I enjoy the more detailed game play and realsitic terrain, modelling etc. Guess I have the best of both worlds right now smile.gif

  8. Silesia, Dawn 25th January 1945: General Rybalko’s 3rd Guards Tank Army has turned 90 degrees to the south and cut off German forces fleeing from the disaster at the Vistula. Nothing seems to stand in his way to breach the last major defense line left to the Wehrmacht—the Oder River south of the Silesian capital of Oppeln. Elements of his 9th Mechanized Corps have already overrun a majestic estate. It is Strachwitz’ ancestral home, Groß Stein. The German High Command desperately scrambles to send forces to hold—or blow-- the key bridge at the Oder river town of Krappitz. Strachwitz , still recuperating from a terrible vehicle accident in the fall, has risen from his hospital bed on crutches and assembled a force of volunteers.

This is the final scenario in The Panzer Counts Ostfront CMBB series.

    Map size: 2.9Km x 3Km

Total points combined: Approx 11000 combined.

Authors: George McEwan and Charlie Meconis

Designer’s note: we describe this scenario as “semi-historical” because there is very little solid detailed information on the operations of Strachwitz’s last command in Silesia during the chaotic final months of the war. We have chosen a carefully researched actual battle setting—the fight for Krappitz, Silesia—as a plausible and interesting setting for this last battle in our Strachwitz series
