  1. Really great stuff!

When you say 'counterattack' is that the AI reaction to touching objectives or can it be triggered beforehand, based on time remaining?

Unfortunately no.  Triggers function in Scen designs but not QB designs.  So counter attacks are a variable time setting.  I hope the new engine will address this along with many other features  on players and my bucket list.  I can say that BFC pays attention to QB Player comments and request. But like all things BFC... it takes coding time.

  2. @ Kieme(ITA)

I'm responding to your QB Map concerns. I posted: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/121388-whats-new-for-cmfb-quick-battle-games/ and answered the question you raised regarding using maps made in previous games.  The two points most germaine are:

    1. CMBN maps ported to CMFB were significantly altered in size, terrain, elevation, and AI orders.

    2. CMRT maps ported to CMBS were often not significantly altered because I thought East Front players might enjoy playing with modern equipment on CMRT historical maps.

It would be best to read all my responses to better understand my reasoning. But make no mistake; I am solely responsible for The QB Maps in all four games.  While I would hope all players would just love what I do, I understand my artistic choices are subject to criticism.

  3. No. However scen and master often do provide that info. Since CMFG qb maps use the title of the scen or master maps it shouldn't be difficult to figure.

So why don't I give credit so richly deserved?

I make most of them and I change all of them. So when it comes to taking bows know it's a beta team effort. But when the compliants and bug reports roll in I want to be able to take full responsibility for the mistake.

  4. RE: CMRT to CMBS Maps.  The maps used from CMRT were often Historical Maps  that I kept more or less intact.  I changed dirt roads to paved or added more, newer commercial buildings but generally kept more to the original design.  I felt, too, that similar layout but advanced weapons technology would be of interest to East Front QB Players.  This was a judgement call of mine.

  5. Maybe a few facts about how I reuse maps will put veteran QB player's minds at ease.

I did indeed recycle CMBN Maps.  None of them are now the same.  Most do not even slightly resemble their CMBN birth.  Elevation, terrain features, Buildings, you name it, are altered. So are Objectives and setup areas. Even with all that I started by using less then 60 CMBN Maps.  And of those perhaps a dozen that were of my own creation that have never been in a title or module.  The actual total of CMFB QB maps is 160 (as of today)

Providing duplicate maps is not my plan.  Providing as many unique and playable maps is.  While I may not always succeed, please know I always try.

  6. When I do the AI setups I must always think about WHAT the AI will be... Infantry, Tanks, a jeep, mines, barb wire, a pill box, or a trench.  So plans must be made to be flexible.  How the AI makes those setup choices is not under my control.  But I think you are actually asking if it's getting better. I can't actually speak to that. But BFC is not known for resting on it's laurels so it's safe to assume the AI evolves with every title.

I can tell you how VERY much I've enjoyed playing CMFB QB's.... and I mean from random unit selection to final turn of the game.... playing against the AI in iron mode.   Sometimes it just feels so darned RIGHT. I bet many players will feel the same.

  7. What's New

All Meeting Engagement Maps have no AI first turn Artillery Strikes of any kind!

All Probe Style Maps have no AI first turn Artillery Strikes (exception The AI can lay Smoke on first turn)

Assault and Attack Maps still Have AI Artillery plans for first turn but with limits. The AI Attacker targets Objectives only

The AI Defender no longer targets EVERY possible line of attack the Human Player has available.

Changes in The QB Map Description:

"Best Play" time setting gives the player a good idea of How fast or slow the AI is set to Attack or Counter Attack. For example:

If the Best Play is 30 Minutes the AI will start its attack or counter attack well within the time it might take to reach it's objectives.

So the player should consider Not just the time but the size of the map when selecting a game. In no way does this hamper the players'

choice of time. Just a suggestion.

"NOTE" is a way of addressing not clearly defined map features, like Water Depth or the existence of Fords.

The information is available to not only during map selection but at any time during the game via the Menu.

  8. FYI just saw this.  You've already got the answer I would have given.  And yes ANY Map that has a setup area and AI pathing orders can be used in QB.  The results may not always be what you hope for.  But many players adjust the maps to set their needs.  It's a very flexible game platform.

I've been very busy taking new scen and master maps from the Fantastic beta scen  guys and doing just that.

  9. The Following statement pertains solely to me.

Since 1983 we've had a small business  directed at a very tiny market group in an other wise huge group (Healthcare Professionals).  We recognize our target group and do some print advertising in specific professional publications.  If we widen the net it's a dead cert that more people would become aware of our products.  It just won't convert to revenue.

We love what we do (service to humanity!) but not nearly as much as our family, friends, and personal lives.  Growth is not our overriding concern. Happiness is.

As some of you will note I'm a long time player of CM and QB Map Maker for BFC.  I don't pretend to know How BFC makes it's business decision's. But I do know they are fun group of guys who seem to enjoy what they do and how they do it.

  10. Thank You for your kind words. It is a labor of love. I also appreciate those who report problems when they find them and endeavor to fix them when I can.

RE: future title QB Maps: I'm hard at work as are the Campaign/Scen Designers. I believe we are all improving our craft as we go. Only time and you, who play the maps, will tell how successful we are.
