Now, especially playing Veteran, because Elite is too much clicking for me, I fail to see any significant influence of the OOB on gameplay at all! Heck, I do not think I ever paid any attention on how my companies are organized, I just spread them all over the place, without any penalty that I am aware of.

I wonder, if others perceive this differently?

    Best regards,

    Thomm

Point well taken. If there is a difference in C&C I don't get a sense of it. Build, play and test daily....
  2. They are seeing the burning enemy vehicles and saying so. This is absolutely the case...You will hear the same thing about knocked out vehicles that are NOT burning as well. You should keep in mind that abandoned vehicles can be re-crewed and if otherwise not damaged, fight again.

"I have seen the same thing consistently when bunkers are about, even though no vehicles are in the game."

Same thing Bunkers read Vehicle to the game

1.01 was released because even BFC admitted it was unplayable for a large number of people.

After that, you may have a point that releases came to quell the noise.

Quell the noise? No, I don't really think that was the impetus. Not that the noise wasn't there. Not that the noise wasn't justifiable (also over the top, Rude, and often childish). What drove BFC to work around the clock on the first set of patches was a desire to get the game on track. I doubt many would agree that BFC would have just sat on their hands if the game had been met with stony silence. Just look at their history. CMBO was met with universal acclaim...(except for the FPS "click Festers",CC RT people and a pretty large group of my SP brethren who all condemned it daily for months) Yet BFC patched it several times. Remember, too, that this game was out as a Demo several months before the release and had tons of player input yet still had flaws, bugs, and missing features. No, BFC didn't work their tails off because of any noise. They did so because that's the way they are.

Also, it says area fire now spreads fire amongst all areas on a target building level, but I've seen that they just hit the same spot over and over like before. At least vehicles do, normally my infantry is too fragile to be doing much supressing anyway. Is this a problem on my end, or is it a problem with the patch?

My understanding is they had it working, put in a last minute bug fix elsewhere and broke the AT specialist again.
  5. Hi Scipio: Six and Web took my point correctly.

As you recall in any CMx1 version a Line of vehicles going down a road tended to rear end one another creating a pause and often creating more rear end pauses and mishaps. Although speed was set the same the culprit often had to do with variations in experience levels. This would create longer start to move, slower turning, ect. CM:SF seems to function by correcting pathing automatically thus avoiding the bump pause malady of old. Webring has it right, however. Vehicles will still visually overlap at close quarters. I expect it's lonely being an armored vehicle...why deny a bit of affection.

I used to make quite a few maps for CMx1, and figured to do the same with CMSF, but it's actually more of a chore.

Possibly because the game itself is more of a chore to play I don't see the pay off to spending hours and hours making the maps and partially it's just more difficult to make them.

The editor is much more detailed, certainly. And different from old CM in many ways. Frankly I was somewhat intimidated by the thing. But once I dived in I really loved it. AI editor is the key to the kingdom...and now that I've got the hang of it...well I want them to add more detail....micro manager me... I couldn't agree more that scen design is more complex and labor intensive. For Me the finished product is worth the effort.
  7. It's really OK...I get my 76's confused anyhow.

The Syrian hardware actually interest me and I play red a lot...It's like playing US against German hardware...got to really pay attention to tactics. And of course I look forward to WW2 just like so many of us do.

  8. 76: My pleasure to give it a rest I too think it's a silly argument...Forum activity and what it means. Here's my actual only point. I enjoy playing the game. I talk with others who feel the same...on this forum. I do that when the mood strikes me. I do not come on this forum to pick fights or denigrate members of the CM community. When seemingly every positive comment is pounded on by people who don't like the game, don't play the game, won't bother buying another BFC product, ad nauseum...well that kind of ridicule can only be tolerated so long. So I'll put it out to you this way

    1. I liked the game. Liked it right away.

    2. The game had a TERRIBLE start and many are justifiable pissed.

    3. I'm not one of them

    4. I think BFC picked itself up off the mat and got in gear fixing this game.

    5. I don't think it has been a waste of their time.

    6. It hasn't been a waste of mine.

    7. BFC has commented on patch progress right along. Some say that they want or need more complete info.

    8. I'm not one of them

    9. Some say that v1.05 will decide if the CMx2 engine can be successful or not.

    10. I don't REALLY know but I lean that way.

    11. Will I continue to play CM:SF...Yes

    12. Will I pre-purchase future BFC products...Yes

So this should clear up any doubts about my motives when posting. If your views are the same or diametrically different...say so and then we can all move on. In the mean time I'll play and wait for the patch.
