Got the photos, thanks.

Not sure why? VAT applies to ANY purchases you make in your country, too. If Battlefront was in the UK (or whichever country you are located in), then you would have to pay it, as well.
Some domestic US customers of ours have to pay VAT on top of the purchase price (if they live in Maine).

In short, you can't. The ModTools are available for PC only at the moment.
-
Our free demos are still frequently covermounted, and a couple of deals have been signed already. On the Mac side, we'll release an updated demo soon that will no doubt find its way on Mac covermounts soon enough.

Is anyone reading reviews these days at all? I stopped reading reviews, uh, must be 10 years ago
Anyway, being a self-publisher we do not require any huge hype before release or day one reviews. Not having a huge PR staff, in fact, would make this impossible anyway. So review copies are going out to reviewers around and AFTER the release. You should start seeing some in the coming days, no doubt.

Yes, you get an email when your order status changes from "Confirmed" to "Shipped". You also should get an email from the USPS.com website with your tracking info.
Both of these can be and often are blocked by spam filters, so it's beneficial if you add sales@battlefront.com and usps.com to your safe sender list. And you need to enter your email address correctly when you purchase, too

Received the much awaited Strrl Box today. Unfortunately, it was damaged in transit. The Steel (plastic really) Box is cracked, dented and warped as received. I know that it is sold out...but I hope I can get a replacement. Order# 00235217 Date ordered:10-Mar-2011
Should I send back the damaged Steel Box? The contents (disk & manual) seem fine.
Help...Help ...Help
Thanks
We'll need a photo of the damaged box. Please go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and click on Submit Ticket. You can upload the photo there. We should be able to send you a replacement.
I had tested what it takes to damage the box myself with some of the samples we had received, and you basically have to jump with your full body weight or drive over it. There are plastic parts in the box but it's quite sturdy.

The first US based players will probably get theirs on monday. Or who knows, if you are unbelievably lucky and near Maine (where we ship from), you may have it today
Right now we expect to be able to ship out the last pre-orders on wednesday, i.e. within the 7 days timeframe we anticipated.

One 18-wheeler full, and then a little more.

If you have problems with applying the hotfix, then simply re-downoad the full version. That contains the fix and is all you need to get you going in terms of entering the full key.
If you have a problem with the game not launching after activatin (it freezes with a black screen), then please see the Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk. You need to NOT click the PLAY NOW button after activating. We're still trying to reproduce the issue on a Mac to figure out what is failing.
Lastly, if you need a key reset because you used your activations trying, go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and Click on Submit Ticket. Make sure to not forget to include your key

There is no activation code needed for the demo. If you are being asked for a code, then your demo installation is corrupt. Uninstall, and reinstall, see if that helps.

my order says nothing about if I qualified for that Steelbook thingy. Any thoughts on that?
If you ordered and didn't see a "Out of stock" message, then you will get one.
-
It takes time to process all pre-orders, guys. We expect about 7 days in fact before the last pre-order leaves the warehouse. They are processed strictly in the order that they were received.
-
The registration page is telling me my key, copied directly from my e-mail, is an invalid serial number. Any suggestions?
What do you mean with "registration page"? Do you mean thw window that comes up when you first launch the game?
When did you download the game? If it was before this morning 10 am EST, then please make sure to install the Hotfix from www.battlefront.com/patches.

Im not really like this system.
There is always the danger that you could (new OS/ new hardware ect.) run out of activations.
If everything goes wrong you will have to wait 1 year to play CMBN again...
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you cannot reactivate your game, all it takes is a support request at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk, and brief explanation why you need an additional activation.
This isn't any different than in our previous eLicense system when you forgot to UNLICENSE your game, but the chances that you will EVER need our support to get your game reactivated are much smaller to start with.

When an order is processed through shipping, the status changes from "confirmed" to "shipped". An email note is generated automatically when this happens. What also happens is that the USPS should send out an email with the tracking number to you once the package is processed. However, I *think* that this only happens for domestic orders and I also think that that email from the USPS is prone to be blocked by spam-filters, because I have seen many customers who didn't get theirs.

GSX, the EULA allows you to have the game on up to two PCs at the same time. The activation system will allow those two and then two more (called "overflow") without asking questions. So if you want to disregard the EULA, you could use the key to install on 4 PCs, yes. Just don't let me know you did or we will have to send the cops out to your house.
One good reason to NOT do 4 PCs at the same time is because after the 4th activation, you only get 1 more PER YEAR.
Ankh Morpork, hard to say if the activation survives or not. It may, or it may not. It depends on a number of factors. We do not use strict fingerprinting, so you may be lucky. Or not.

The manual IS included in the full version, including the download version. It installs together with the game, and there are links to it on your desktop (if you choose to allow desktop links), in your Program Group, and in the game directory itself. Two versions of the manual are included, a pretty version (like the hardgoods printed version), and a print-friendly version without background.
-
Sure. The total number of activations is not limited. The EULA allows you to have two concurrent activations at any time.

Our new Online Activation System is designed to play nice with the vast majority of AV software out there. We using various techniques to signal to the AV engine that the game is legitimate. But there are some products out there that basically don't give a crap
*Some* Norton products are like that, BitDefender is probably the worst (even blocking completely unprotected/unencrypted software), and there are some others.
We use a virus engine database to check our new games against possible false positives. The success rate is about 99.9%. However, on top of the AV engine, some packages come with various additions, like Keyloggers, Virtualization software, Process Explorers etc. All of these will prevent the game from running because the game detects this and shuts down, as for all it knows it could be a hacker trying to get in.
So if you get problems with your AV, please contact your AV vendor and have them check out the game files that are being blocked, and they should be able to tell you exactly how to fix it.
Personally, I think that many of these protections schemes go to far and are completely unnecessary. Something to put on the marketing sheet, perhaps, to get you to buy another copy. What is worst perhaps is the lack of documentation and transparency about what is going on.
If you really need strong AV protection on your PC, for work or whatever, that's ok but you should probably consider not installing games there
For the gaming PC, basic firewall and AV protection will do the trick 99.9% of the time. And stay away from porn sites

Yes, you can.

chris, this issue is most likely tied to your ATI card. Make sure to update your drivers to 11.5

Destraex1 is correct. We should be able to come up with a solution at some point that will allow us to offer customers interchangeable platforms for their purchase, but this requires a bunch of work and planning, so at the moment, the two versions need to be purchased separately. We offer a small discount for customers who want to buy both a PC and Mac version.
Upcoming Patch?

You can copy to a different location on the same PC. No need to reinstall. (what you cannot do is copy to a different PC, that will trigger all sorts of issues, including a licensing/activation issue)
