Unfortunately, there is no way right now for us to support a platform-independent CM:BN (or any other game, for that matter). The platform specifics regarding downloads, licensing and activation, as well as tech support, mean that effectively, these are two entirely different games that need to be purchased separately.
We do, however, offer a *small* discount if you own one and want the other, too. Go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk, click on Submit Ticket, and ask for it.
For *future* releases, we're working on a platform independent system already, that would allow you to buy the game and switch between platforms.

If you have a disc and it asks you for the CD to be in drive, then you have purchased before we started digital delivery (or very shortly after). We made new discs that are using the eLicense system and do not require the CD in drive some time after launching digital delivery. So yes, right now when you buy the game (download or mail, doesn't matter, you get the same thing), you do not need the CD in drive in order to play. But if you own a CD that was produced before then, well, then this doesn't automatically change out of the blue

I have no problem alt-tabbing out of the game and back into it in Windows XP (yes, I still use that on my PC). So whatever is wrong seems to be wrong with your particular setup or Windows install.

The announcements can get kinda hidden when you do not look at the actual game forum index page very often (which many people don't, they instead look at "Today's Posts" for example). But another good place to make sure you don't miss news is to visit www.battlefront.com once in a while (you can subscribe to the newsfeed from the entire site here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS2.0&no_html=1 )
(And there are also RSS feeds for individual games in each game's web area)

I just finished watching all the episodes. It's seriously awesome and suspiciously addictive, and VERY well made. Every episode is better then the previous one. I loved the sniper duel (way to go, Butch!) and episodes 10-15 are definitely MUST SEEs!
Patrick managed to capture the essence of what Combat Mission is about!

We have just forwarded the 1.05 file to Excalibur, so after a little Q&A they should be able to put it up shortly. I wasn't aware that the file was corrupt until now, but either way, since 1.05 is all-inclusive, you should be able to get a working download soon.

Obviously LOS and vehicles are being influenced by an outside variable unless this game REALLY is that imbalanced in which case I just wasted my money and will soon find something else to occupy my time as I'm sure many of you care deeply about.
Unlike most other games, Combat Mission is not artificially "balanced" in any way. We use real world data exclusively. This means that the imbalances you will find in the game mirror (or should mirror) the imbalances found in real world conflict(s).

I searched the manual pdf for Nervous again and it's not there.
Gerry
Hi Gerry,
yeah, sorry, Gerry, but we cannot update the manual once printed/pressed on disc. We do release Erratas and updates to the manual with patches, and we also update the online manuals. The online CMSF manuals, including the base game manual, as you will notice, are reflecting v1.21 or something like that, for example.
We didn't update the CMBN online manual but the 1.01 patch includes an errata to the manual.
The reason why Nervous was left out (among a few of the other states between "OK" and "Panic") is because they are pretty self-explanatory, and there are no special game rules applying to them. Unlike the Panic or Routed states, the units still respond to commands, for example. So, "nervous" is really just what it says - the unit is nervous. Stating this in a manual seems somewhat redundant. Having said that, the errata now clarifies and acknowledges that there are states between OK and Panic, and it's definitely better this way, which is why we added it.

In other words, the manual is adequate after all, ja?

Mods are entirely platform independent. Any mod will work on any version of the game, Mac or Windows.

I am sure The K Man has already had his case resolved long ago (we usually respond to Support ticket at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk within 24 hours). So, go ahead and do the same (open a ticket), and we'll look into it.
There can be several reasons why a license state may become corrupt, and we can usually resolve this quickly.

Paradox, the distributor of the retail version of CMSF, stopped support for the title after patch 1.20 IIRC. You can purchase a special 1.21 "patch" for $1 which changes your game version from the Paradox retail version to ours (basically, it swaps out the licensing used), and with that you can use our patches, and patch through to the very latest version (for free).

It sounds like you are entering your license key instead of the Authorization Request Code. The Manual activation process has a specific sequence, and the Authorization Request Code is generated during the activation on your computer. You don't need any of this when you choose "Online" as activation method (then you only need your lciense key).
For more details about how our Online Activation System works, please see:
-
There is no problem in the installer as far as I can tell. You need to pay attention to the install path. It's easy to miss that sometimes the path will double into something like
C:\Programs\Battlefront\CM Afghanistan\CM Afghanistan
Notice the double entry at the end.

It means that the user was kicked out of the forum. JetC1E1 was not a real user (in the sense that he wanted to actually participate here; in fact, he was probably human and not a bot), but a spammer who wanted to post anything (they often use generics like you see above) in order to plug a URL in his signature line which other bots then can use to improve that website's search rankings.
-
Sounds to me that you installed the patch incorrectly. Make sure to specify the correct installation path when you run the patch!

EOS comes with its own built-in tool for sharing mods (and matchmaking etc.). Simply launch the game and click on the corresponding menu in the game.

I don't know about Play.com. They may be using a different activation system. If this is using our eLicense system, then we can reset it for you. (However, I don't think they do use eLicense, so you will probably have to contact play.com support).
-
If you cannot unlicense on the previously installed computer, please go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and click on Submit Ticket. Explain what happened and why you cannot unlicense (or relicense), and we can reset your key for you. Make sure to include your license key(s) in the Ticket.
We can reset a key for you a couple of times in emergencies like that, no problem.
(This applies to our old eLicense system; the new online activation system does not require unlicensing and if you need new activations, you can add them yourself via the online web interface).

Ask your grand pa, or whoever bought the game for you, to contact us at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk.
-
Did you recently upgrade to 10.7? Anyway, please go to www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and click on Submit Ticket. It's most likely a permissions error that we can reset for you.
-
Actually the manual is correct as long as you are using the default hotkeys.txt file/configuration. If you use the "alternative hotkeys.txt" file, or changed the hotkeys.txt file manually, then it works differently.

PS. The only potential issue you may run into when copying is one of Windows permissions which may lead to errors when trying to run the game. But it's difficult to predict because it depends on the individual Windows setup. So, if you run into problems after copying, check your Windows permission settings.
Sale on Global Conflict?
in Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918

We only very rarely do outright sales at Battlefront.com. We did a summer sale a few years ago after launching the digital delivery platform, but that's about it. We do reduce the prices on older games eventually a little, but usually after several years only.
We believe that our games are priced fairly for what you get, and that due to the replayability, expandability and scope they are offering, they are not losing value as quickly as mainstream games. You will get as many hours of enjoyment out of Global Conflict now as you would have last year.
