MikeyD
If a rifleman is close enough to hit a crewmember loading the weapon he'd also be able to put a few rounds into the ammo box itself. Which at the least would affect ammo feed. Another reason to keep back from the line of contact.
Sgt.Squarehead
Is the box not protected (I'm not familiar with the Stryker RWS, being British and a civvy).
c3k
Modern optics allow, adrenaline excepted, 1" accuracy at 100m. At 300m, hitting a 4" circle is easy...under range conditions. IRL, adrenaline, fear, suppression, etc., all degrade that to quite a degree. Even if you make accuracy 10x worse when in combat, at 300m, shots are coming within 40" of the target. Support weapons should be BACK. 300m in WWII was close. In modern combat, 500m is close. Get your Strykers further back.

cool breeze
Sometimes not all your assets should be used offensively.
MikeyD
One thing I haven't tried. Stryker and 'hull down' command - I've had success with it firing on the enemy from pre-selected position but I can't recall if unbuttoning and reloading is safer or not in a hull-down position.
