Aragorn2002
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to change the size of the master maps? I would like to use parts of all those beauties to make some battles of my own. Thanks in advance for helping.
Bud Backer
If I'm following your question, you should be able to load any existing map in the scenario editor, and then in the Map portion of the editor, use the "-" buttons at the top where the dimensions are indicated to trim from a particular edge. Which means you can cut from top, bottom, left or right, or any combination thereof. Hope that helps!
kohlenklau
...but always first save it under a new name.
Aragorn2002
Thanks guys! It is indeed as simple as that. Click on the side you want to trim and then just use the "-" buttons. I still think the editor is one of the most underrated aspects of CM. It is incredibly versatile.

You don't want to have to reinstall to get the original back...
kevinkin
Another thing to remember when re-sizing maps is that you may lose track of any objectives and AI plans on the larger map. Sometimes they cause problems on the newer smaller map and you will have to enlarge the map to remove them. Their presence on the maps will be cut off but they will still influence play on the new map. Invisible objectives will appear in end game report calculations for example. Master maps are naked in this respect but all the QB maps are loaded with objectives and of AI plans. Remembering this will save a bit of time later in the design process.
