Schrullenhaft
I'll have to check this, but I believe that the S3 Savage4 based video cards may not support fog-tables to the extent that CM needs. There have been some hacks of the drivers by third parties, but I'm not sure if any of them have added anything other than some OpenGL speed tweaks. I'll repost what I find out, but I believe that this card may not provide all the visual details that are possible under CM.
Ellros
I used to have an S3 based card, and it did not support fog tables.
Schrullenhaft
I tried some Diamond Savage4 and Savage 2000 based cards and neither of them completely supported fog-tables under Windows 98SE or Windows 2000. With a S3 Tweaker program I got fog on the 'horizon' tiles, but not directly on the battlefield itself. Unfortunately I don't forsee any further drivers coming from Diamond/S3. Even the tweaked drivers are hard to get nowadays. Microsoft or S3 will probably change the drivers just enough to run under WinXP and that will quite probably be the last for these cards. The graphics division (or intellectual property most likely) was purchased by VIA and they have made some integrated chips for laptops recently, but I highly doubt that those drivers will work with any of the previous Savage series cards.

Amidst_Void
I discovered something new(!). The gears in my head are slowly, but surely, turning.
