Struggling with Elevation

Can anyone direct me to threads relating to help with determining elevation?

I find it frustrating when you move troops somewhere only to still find that they suffer from reverse slope!:confused:

Hmm, have you tried checking first with a Target order on the destination way point?

Once you have planned the move, select the last way point with the mouse. You ll see it becomes a bit bigger. Then select "target" and plot a LoS line to wherever you need it.

Although the line still comes from the original position the color code of the Los line it is indeed that of the destination way point you have selected.

Maybe you were already aware of this, just checking.

Using the scroll wheel on your mouse and getting down in the dirt helps. There is a mod which adds an overlaying grid on top of the terrain. That helps to show the undulations a bit better.

Actually this game could REALLY use a function that overlays contour ines on the map. REALLY, REALLY USE.

I once suffered from reverse slope, but I went to the doctor and he cleared it right up.

I thought that the ability to view LOS from a waypoint was way too God-like, at first.

However, the fact that it doesn't actually tell you what your units will be able to see when they arrive there mitigate this a lot

Yeah, nothing is perfect :-) Your forces see what they see... you still have the power of the Borg in you though... and unless the sought unit is in a too tricky spot, often times you can tell if the blue line touches the area or not...

There is a mod up at the repository for contour lines. That should help you espically when zoomed out.
