13
Not really sure where to post this, as there is no subforum for it. I assume it would be handled by the RU dev, but I'll just see if anyone knows what's going on here. So, in short, the audio gets blotchy as hell, whenever I open a drop down menu, example being the qb menu. Also, during loading, and the first few seconds of the game post rendering is the same. Second, I can't click on, well, on anything in the game. Can't select units, can't do...again, really anything, except save and conditions, etc. Gonna see if the ATI click thing does anything. Anywho, any help, or advice would be appreciated. BTW, I have never experienced this with CM:SF and all of it's expansions. Thanks in advance.
13
Well, never mind. I played with the ATI click thingy, that seemed to have solved the second problem. And the first problem just seemed to have worked itself out. Not really sure what happened there. Ha, so, DISREGARD.
__Yossarian0815[jby]
I have the wierd blotchy audio in both CMA and CMSF sometimes, but it always dissappears after restarting the game.
Aragorn2002
Funny thing is I have exactly the same problem with both games. When I start a game the sounds works fine, but as soon as I ALT-TAB to desktop and back again, the sound is gone or pretty messed up. I'm trying to sort it out with the excellent helpdesk of BF. As soon as we've worked it out, I will post the solution here. If there is one.
Schrullenhaft
We're unable to find a solution to this problem or actually reproduce the problem with our systems. In this case one customer has a Realtek HD audio using the 892 audio codec and an AMD 8xx series chipset. We had on had a Realtek 889A audio codec connected to an AMD 790X chipset. Using the R2.59 drivers we were unable to reproduce the issue with CMSF (we didn't check CMA as of yet). The closest we came to reproducing an audio problem was when re-maximizing the game, all of the Syrian voices sounded off at once. However the audio immediately returned to normal. For the customer who had opened up the Helpdesk ticket, they got the problem regardless of units and events in the scenario. As long as they Alt-Tab'ed out of the game (or potentially just performed a 'save'), they would get corrupt audio in the game. If anyone else is using a different audio chip, let us know. As of right now we can't duplicate this particular problem, though we have heard of it occasionally in the past.
stikkypixie
I usually get choppy sound after loading some PBEM files one after each other. Restarting the game makes it go away however.
Aragorn2002
Restarting the game always works for me too. Well, it isn't the end of the world, but I hope sooner or latter somebody will come up with a solution. Til then better not to get distracted too much by other things than fighting a battle.
