  1. Same here for coop play as the #1 feature. Unfortunately, they've already pretty much said no to this, so, boo. I actually had a few guys in my platoon ask about the game. Told them about it, let them see it in action, etc. The thing that deterred most of them was not being able to play alongside each other. It's so much more fun discussing strategy, and trying things with friends, than playing against them, only having the after action to discuss what happened. But, they're happy playing MoW:Assault Squad right now. Ha.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APDe5QH6fhY A little different seeing as it's concertina wire, but, yeah.
  3. Haha, this old adage will definitely piss people off here: There are only two jobs in the military. Infantry, and support.
  4. 1. It is all honor based. For the most part, no real problem. At least, at larger events. 2. Most of the primary events require specific kit, or restrictions to. Mostly mid-low capacity mags, (30 rnds, or sometimes 100 rnds) only one SAW per squad, max velocity of bb, etc. I got into it cause of the military. We used airsoft weapons once, and I checked it out later. Very mature group of players, from what I've seen. There are always exceptions, but I have loved every minute of playing. I don't remember the link policy here, but just google search "Lion Claws airsoft". Op Irene is the big event, usually at either Mascatatuck, IN., or Zussman Village, Ft. Knox, KY. Very cool stuff.
  5. Excuse me, sir, could you tell me where [insert anything] is? Yep. [Racks shotgun] Back the way ya came...
  6. Have you brought the picnic basket?
  7. Yeah, but there's virtually nothing in Iraq. Or Kuwait. And you can't tell me that Astan's got better ISPs than Iraq. Albeit, Iraq's was kinda bad. To US standards, that is.
  8. Thank god. It might have just been me, but whenever using light infantry, it would be like 5 minutes left and I would be screaming, 'Base of fire isn't even set up yet! NOOOOO!!' [clicking madly, setting all orders to quick] Well, I'm a horrible pixeljoe commander, anyway. So, yeah. There's that.
  9. We used to joke about making the most realistic game ever. You spend 2 hours in a dark bradley crew compartment, shaking violently, while you hear 25mm go off. Finally, two horns, ramp goes down, sunlight burns your retinas, and you pile out, hopefully not falling on your face. 'OMG THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE SAND TABLE', you think. 'Oh, wait. That must be K4, and there's building 23. Ok. Yeah, I got this.' As you set up the outer cordon. About a minute passes. 'Yep. The brad's killed everything. There's a goat. It's hot.' During the course of the game, you receive fire twice, but you never can figure out from where. Now off to burn some poo. Aaaaand so on. Battlefront, feel free to use that as a new IP. -EDIT-For A-stan, 'Yep. The '64's killed everything. There's a mountain. It's cold.'
  10. Would be interesting if Syria had a bunch of hits.
  11. Would be pretty nifty if there were squad formations. But, understandably, it's not done. How many times have I ordered my little pixeljoes along a danger area, the whole while thinking...any second a well placed mg team is gonna light em up. And I'll keep ordering them across. Mwhahahaha. 2nd Squad: 'Where's first squa.....OH GOD THEY'RE ALL DEAD...!' Me: Move along, nothing to see here.
  12. I'd totally post more, but, ya know. I've got...things. To do. Like painting my face, and sitting in a bush outside of Battlefront's building. Oh, haha, *LURKING*...I thought someone said stalking. My fault, out.
  13. ...or if you used a {GASP} fake name. I totally just stole this ebook from Ima Douche. ...it's French.
  14. Well, never mind. I played with the ATI click thingy, that seemed to have solved the second problem. And the first problem just seemed to have worked itself out. Not really sure what happened there. Ha, so, DISREGARD.
  15. Not really sure where to post this, as there is no subforum for it. I assume it would be handled by the RU dev, but I'll just see if anyone knows what's going on here. So, in short, the audio gets blotchy as hell, whenever I open a drop down menu, example being the qb menu. Also, during loading, and the first few seconds of the game post rendering is the same. Second, I can't click on, well, on anything in the game. Can't select units, can't do...again, really anything, except save and conditions, etc. Gonna see if the ATI click thing does anything. Anywho, any help, or advice would be appreciated. BTW, I have never experienced this with CM:SF and all of it's expansions. Thanks in advance.
  16. Also, The Other Side of the Mountain, by Ali Ahmad Jalali. Opposing accounts, great compendium next to The Bear Went Over the Mountain.
  17. Ok, that last one was hard to read. I'll try and explain a little clearer with an example. Your platoon is tasked with a raid on an objective. So, you divide your forces up into the assault element, and the cordon element. Your LT is supposed to be in the thick of it, so he can develop the situation more effectively. Therefore, he is physically leading the assault element. IOT maintain control of both elements, the platoon sergeant will physically lead the cordon. Blah blah blah, in order for it to be represented in CMSF, I believe you would need to separate the HQ element into two. Which is very unlikely to happen. Just pretend when the LT goes down, and it shows a PFC in charge, that the senior squad leader took control. And also pretend he's an SFC. Lot of words to just say that.
  18. "The other thing is that yes the PlSgt will take over the platoon if the Lt is incapacitated but the thing is it will take an appreciable amount of time for that to happen. In the meantime now that I think of it the Pl Sig could step in to the role as he is the one in contact with the higher command until the Sergeant can take over, something that may not actually occur within the game time frames." Hell no. Even in the OpOrd succession of command is clearly defined. If the LT goes down, it IMMEDIATELY falls upon the next ranking man. Is it realistic that it may take a few minutes, yes. And sometimes, in order to maintain that initiative, an e-6 may jump the gun and take command for a brief period. But, will it take say 15 minutes to 4 hours? Ha, no way. If a e-3 is calling the shots, he better be crying broken arrow over the headset. "We are also talking the Platoon Sergeant not sergeants who are in the platoon. Correct me if I am wrong but I think that in many cases American squads are lead by Sergeants ? Consequently there are more ppl of sergeant rank engaged in the fighting, Mr Rock for example." Standard US Army squads are run by Staff Sergeants. In the infantry, it goes a little like this: Buddy team, 2 guys; fireteam, 4 guys, lead by Sergeant; squad, 2 fireteams, led by Staff Sergeant; Platoon, 4 squads led by 2LT. Now it varies, at times. Example; my last deployment we had no 2LT, so the platoon sgt. stepped up and filled the LT's role, and one of the squad leaders became our platoon sgt. A lot of times you have specialists in a fireteam leader role, sergeants in squad leader roles, etc., an old rule of thumb was always know 2 jobs above your pay grade. But, I digress. A platoon sergeant's role can vary wildly, but SH 21-76 defines it as(I will abbreviate as necessary to relevancy to CMSF):PLATOON SERGEANT (PSG) The PSG is the senior NCO in the patrol and second in succession of command. He helps and advises the patrol leader, and leads the patrol in the leader's absence. He supervises the patrol's administration, logistics, and maintenance, and he prepares and issues paragraph 4 of the patrol OPORD. DUTIES • Organizes and controls the patrol CP IAW the unit SOP, patrol leader’s guidance, and METT-TC factors. • Supervises task-organized elements of patrol: — Quartering parties. — Security forces during withdrawals. — Support elements during raids or attacks. — Security patrols during night attacks. • Ensures that the patrol adheres to the platoon leader’s time schedule. ACTIONS DURING MOVEMENT AND HALTS • Takes actions necessary to facilitate movement. • Supervises rear security during movement. • Knows unit location. • Performs additional tasks as required by the patrol leader and assists in every way possible. Focuses on security and control of patrol. ACTIONS ON THE OBJECTIVE AREA • Supervises, establishes, and maintains security at the ORP. • Assists the patrol leader in control and security. • Performs additional tasks assigned by the patrol leader and reports status to platoon leader. ACTIONS IN THE PATROL BASE • Assigns sectors of fire. › Ensures crew-served weapons have interlocking sectors of fire. • Performs additional tasks assigned by the patrol leader and assists him in every way possible. Ok. This is waaay too long. But, there ya go.
  19. Hey, long time BF user, and not really too many complaints through the years. Question, though. Just installed Windows 7, and cleaned up some old files and what not. Figured I'd reinstall CMSF no problem. Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate my marines disk, and the download has apparently expired. The Brits download had not, so, I got 2 out of 3 going...but, is there a way to get the marines download? I still have the keys for elicensing and what have you, just need the setup file. Curious if there is a way, or if I'm just boned. P.S. - CD replacement, or mail delivery is a nogo. Slated to deploy very soon.
  20. Not as bad as getting a bradley stuck, then getting another brad stuck trying to tow it out. Ha. Funny as hell. We watched 'em for a bit, then called up for the 88's before they'd do any more damage. Good laugh before CM'ing. Haha, good times.
  21. Biggest problem with SF units, is the organization. It's almost impossible to make an ODA, and then add say an attachment, ex. Air Force CAC. Then make it operate properly. CMSF just doesn't wanna do it. I tried, then got pissed. But, it's probably just me. BTW, I don't think airborne's a big deal. Just have a light fighter unit, reinforce a few minutes in, and they appear, albeit no chutes, but hell, gotta use a little imagination. Airborne is merely an infil. Air Assault can be infil, exfil, redistribution of forces, and CAS. I'd rather air assault over airborne any day.
