Michael Emrys
...it could be plausible to have had some overweight persons. Yeah, but there is a difference between "overweight" and blubbery. Some re-enactors I have seen could not have marched 12 miles carrying a rifle and pack. And some others that were in slightly better shape might have gone the distance, but would have been in no condition to engage in combat. Anyone that fat might be in uniform, but kept far, far to the rear where they would not have been a drag on their unit. Michael
MikeyD
he rarely uses re-enactors as models. Why? Too damned fat. I heard an interview with a surgeon recently back from Afghanistan. He said he could immediately tell Americans from Afghanis on the table by the sheer volume of fat packed around every organ. And one assumes McDonalds burger and snickers bar wrappers in there too. I joke that when they cut me open they'll find a nougat center.

Wouldn't the weathered skin, beard, looking 60 at 30 and lack of a NATO uniform be an easier way to tell this instead of cutting them open?
