How is direct HE fire, in CMx2 different?

Recommended Posts

Just been playing a meeting engagement in CMBB and one incident caused me to ponder. I'd bought a veteran Tiger and a reinforced regular platoon and had managed to secure the forest in front of the flag and was holding off the waves of green Soviets, who emerged from the light woods opposite. Once the Tiger had dispatched the Soviet armour assets I judged the time was right to attack. I located and pinned the two hmgs, using supporting infantry assets plus the Tiger and kept this up for two minutes. As the infantry paused to jump off they were delayed so as to add to the fire, one mg expired and the other was pinned. The platoon, two up attacked and closed with the HMG, as they advanced the Tiger put two shells into the HMG and my men readied grenades, big mistake! The HMG, which by now had taken 8 88mm HE shells, awoke and gunned down 4 of my men, before dying.

My question is this, in CMX2 would the HMG have lsted so long, if an 88mm gun shell lands a direct hit on a unit in light woods what will the result be? For that matter, when Elvis's Shermans have been firing their large HE capacity shells what have been the effects on their target? I have a suspicion that direct fire HE will be far deadlier than the adjusted CMX1 engine, which will give players another new tactical dilemma to ponder. Or will it be the case that improved terrain representation will counter this, so results will be similar to CMX1. Finally, in my example does the CMX2 engine model knocking out MG's, or do you have to kill the crew to KO it?

I'm sorry...what did you say?

It sounded like you said "Dates and locations of “pre release” demos are starting to pop up now."

It sounded like it because that’s what I typed:

On the front page we currently have:

and

A whole two and three threads respectively beneath this one.

No doubt more may / will follow.

All you need to do is look. :)
